Three Way Liquor Store

It was a tepid but sultry evening as Tina R, Farzan K, and I were lounging around the apartment awaiting for a phantom pizza that had yet to arrive. Boredom had settled into the room which created an impatient reticence upon myself and my two comrades. It was just at the moment of unbearable tolerance that I happened to glance over towards Farzan and noticed the beguiling gaze that he was giving an unaware Tina. As if an antelope instinctively feeling the lion hiding in the grass, Tina lifted her head upwards and espied the expression upon Farzan’s visage. She smiled coyly. «What?»
Farzan said nothing, but only gave a curl of his eyebrow. Tina understood immediately. She smiled a bright devilish smile. Then they both looked upon me, tilted their heads, hummed, and then returned to look upon one another.
«Three way?» Farzan inquired to Tina.
«Three way.» Tina approved.
Then they both looked at me and I immediately returned to a state of junior high school where some of the kids had stolen a pack of cigarettes from one of the teachers and were passing them out in the boys room. The pack had just landed in my hand.
I stared intently into their eyes.
«Three way it is.»
So we jumped into the car and drove on down to the Three Way Liquor Store.
«Oh, look. Wine!» Tina shouted and promptly picked up a bottle of Merlot.
«Oh, look. Money orders! My friends back in Scranton could use some of these,» Farzan exclaimed. He emptied all the cash out of his wallet and bought up money orders aplenty.
«Oh, look. Leffe!» I blurted out upon my surprise at finding a nice Belgian beer in the rack. «I don’t know how it will taste when paired next to the 40 ounce, but now is the time to find out. Farzan, put down that do-​rag. It’s not good for your hair.»
We all piled back into the car and speed off to our wondrous night, amply supplied by Three Way Liquor.
It was ironic that very next weekend I was with Bassey E and Amber M, just milling about in the most carefree and innocuous of manners, when Bassey descried Amber batting her eye lashes at Bassey in a most coquettish demeanor.
«So,» Amber asked quizzically to Bassey. «Are you feeling lucky?»
Taken aback by the insinuation, Bassey recoiled for a second, then smiled, turned to me and asked, «I don’t know. Are you feeling lucky, Mic?»
I was stunned for a moment at having such serendipity. I looked at both women and bluntly let out my answer.
«Yes. Yes, I am feeling lucky.»
Without hesitation, we piled into the car and headed to Three Way Liquor to play all kinds of lottery games. We each bought some powerball tickets, but also played some of the scratch off games and ended up winning $ 78 dollars. We decided to each buy something from the store with the booty from plundering fortune. Amber got herself a bottle of Bombay Gin, Bassey bought a bottle of Patron Tequila, and I settled on a bottle of Jameson Whiskey.
«Who would have thought that this liquor store would have so much variety in this neighborhood?» Bassey asked in amazement.
«You can’t keep all the hipsters in H Street,» I retorted.
«This has been a lucky day,» Amber concluded. «What would be the proper way to end it?»
We all stopped walking.
There was no need to say a word.
We piled into the car
got a hotel room
and had a
three way.
