I performed at this show last Thursday. As a small town Kansan, I am very impressed with the show I saw that night. The audience was full, attentive, and very easy to get along with. The comedians were professional and talented, and the entire show was incredibly well put together.

I was just here last night! For a free show, it was worth it. I don’t think I laughed enough to go again or make it a regular stop for entertainment. It’s located in a super tiny basement space! I refrained from getting up simply because there was little to no space available for movement. When it comes to food, it was okay. My boyfriend ordered calamari and I ordered the chicken wings. It was okay but easily forgettable. The comics were pretty good but I wasn’t able to catch many of their names. I wish there had been some signs posted so you know who was performing. By the end of the night, I could only remember one comic’s name for sure. In the end, it was a nice way to spend a Thursday night. Not sure if I’ll be back though.

Just a few blocks down from Dupont Circle metro station, this was a really nice spot for some laughs. The drinks are delicious. It was really fun trying out the drinks that correlated with our zodiac signs. The comedians were very funny in their individual ways from quirky jokes to just nasty visuals lol the comedians did a great job. The staff here was very attentive and down to earth. I want to give this 4.5 stars just for the tiny size of the actual room where the comedy was being performed, but since we had great seats and had a great time with no complaints, I can’t do anything but give it 5 stars. All of my expectations were met for this occasion, decent bar food, great drinks, and excellent customer service. This was a great date night — like their page says, «Great date-night idea for a Thursday night in Dupont. Dinner & a show for not much dough!»

This is some of the best open mic comedy that you can come across in the DC area. The shows are structured and have a excellent balance of new comics and veterans comics sharing the stage.

Every Thursday, Topaz has a free comedy show featuring ten local comedians. I wasn’t sure what to expect, since the show is free and there’s no information in advance(as far as I could tell) about who’s performing. I went with a group for happy hour in the Topaz bar, and most of us stayed to see the show. It was really crowded the night we were there(the room isn’t very bit), which made it hard to find seats together, but we managed. They say there’s a two-drink minimum, but with everyone squished in and no table service, they don’t really enforce it — and even if you did want to buy two drinks during the show, you’d probably have a tough time making your way to the bar in the back of the room. Anyway, I thought the show was actually really good! Some comedians were funnier than others, but all of them made me laugh. I’d definitely recommend checking it out!

1st time going to an open mic/amateur stand-up event, so wasn’t expecting much. Surprisingly, most of the acts ranged from pretty funny to very funny. And you can’t beat free. The seating and stage area is kinda small but cozy and had a very chill atmosphere. My only complaint was the waiter(s) not going around enough. I had to go upstairs to the bar area to order food and drinks.
