There is a bartender there named Boone. I watched him SPIT into my beer. He is not a good person and I will be calling a lawyer. I never did anything to him except not flatter his weak ego.

If you’re looking for a no frills place to drink a beer and laugh with a friend or two this is it. The food is basic, but satisfying. Many of the customers seem like regulars and generally they are friendly talkative types. The bartenders are interesting and the staff seem to get along with each other.

This is my mind of bar. Neighborhood dive, games, jukebox, cold beer, and I love the cheesesteaks, especially late night. If you’re looking for fancy this isn’t it. If you want a good beer surrounded by good people then I highly recommend it.

Checking in at Trusty’s is a wake up call if you’re in your 30s(I just turned 30). Unilocal will tell you it’s a popular place for 30 year olds. Why? Maybe it’s because there’s two floors of seating and it isn’t crazy loud like some of those bars where 20 year olds hang out. :) They have a good beer list(They also sell Jack’s hard cider if you’re into that). The food is basic, but good. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak and it hit the spot! Nothing fancy, but very tasty. The top floor has a room off the side for events and the main bar area is in a yellow school bus adding to the unique, dive bar feel to it. Every corner has games for patrons to enjoy including Cards Against Humanity. Trusty’s is a local favorite for sure.

Came here for a friend’s goodbye party(wahh) on a Thursday night and this place was pretty empty at first but eventually got hoppin’! The place is hilarious, soooo casual and divey but with such an elegant crowd lol, clearly a product of its location. I live in NW so I don’t find myself in SE that much, but this type of casual bar makes me want to visit more often. It’s just an unassuming, relaxed bar with a huge selection of beer. As many have mentioned, their décor is so eclectic, a school-bus-bar, lunch boxes for lamps, all so quirky! If you happen to be in the neighborhood, fun place to grab some drinks!

who doesn’t love a bus in a bar, with indoor seating that makes you feel like your outside… this is all upstairs by the way. the downstairs has it’s own flair too. the staff are great. the beers are flowing. the food is decent for bar food. it’s a great spot to go to prior to going to anything at RFK as it’s walking distance or just one stop away on metro.

–40 minute wait for food on a slow weeknight –Only 3 beers on tap, none of them local –Sandwiches served with Ruffles potato chips, yikes If you’re going to try to be a dive bar, at least have dive bar prices

The trusty bar of Potomac Ave. Trusty’s is everything you want from a local bar: friendly service, beer served in mason jars, trashy delicious bar food and always a seat at the bar. I went here after work with a friend that lives in the area for a quick bite and beer. Between the relaxed atmosphere and great service, it almost made me want to move to the area as it was unlike any bar I’ve seen in DC. It was almost as if we were transported to the set of «How I Met Your Mother» and we just grabbing a bite and burger at MacLarren’s Pub. Their nachos are on point — as in the trashy nachos from your childhood with fake cheese and all the toppings. I highly recommend. If nachos aren’t your thing, they also have a fantastic Italian sausage. While I didn’t make it upstairs — this time — I’m told they have a bar that is built out of the shell of a short bus. Can you get much cooler than that? I doubt it. Final Verdict: I’m a fan, you should be too!

After checking out a few open houses I the area I headed to this great local spot. Very casual atmosphere. Had a bowl of chili which came with nacho chips, a chicken cheesesteak and some soft pretzels. Listened to tunes on the jukebox and drank bourbon and ginger from a mason jar. Not a bad way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

The school bus here: I heard, I came, and I sat my @$$ down! Loves: + Trivia on Tuesdays + School bus and patio upstairs + Big selection of beers + Nice bartender from Colorado + Minutes from the metro Not so love: — Grilled cheese($ 6) doesn’t come on Texas Toast like I was hoping, but regular sandwich bread :( — Bye Bye Burcham did not win at trivia! Not against the bar obviously. ;) Overall so glad my friend Rita chose to come here for bar trivia. Potomac Ave Metro seems far, but Trusty’s makes the trek #worthit!

Interesting little dive bar in DC. We have our after parties at Trusty’s when our bouts are at the DC Armory. I love Trusty’s. It can get crowded quickly since it is a little small. There is a bar upstairs and downstairs. The deck is also open upstairs in good weather. The upstairs bar is a school bus. Kind of fun. I have heard the food is pretty good, though I have never eaten there. They also allow outside food too. Games and such available downstairs too.

Bf brought me here for my bday. Saw this place plenty of times and wanted to check it out. So glad I did. Of course, it’s a dive bar but I love the atmosphere. They have board games and cards you can play with your party or even with the rest of the patrons. Cool touch. The bar… let’s put it this way, I was tipsy… TIPSY off one drink. Bless them. I ordered the Philly and my guy got the burger. Description: droooooooooolllssss

A Hill staple. Mason Jar beers and a grill full of flavor and tasty goodness. Friendly atmosphere and Sharky the bartender is a great host. Perhaps one of the few places within a mile of the Capitol you can ‘Trust.’ I’ve had the Philly cheese steak and also a daily special. Both were excellent; however, if you’re on a diet, a calorie counter, or adverse to old style cooking, these might not be for you.

Cheap drinks. Great crowd — super friendly and down to earth. Board games. School bus. What else do you need when going to a bar?! I had a lot of fun here a few weekends ago when I had a staycation in DC. Played drunken jenga with some friends and no one judged us while having to do the dares written on the jenga pieces. The staff were extremely friendly and not uptight or judgemental at all. The place is a lot smaller than I imagined, but we snagged a big table for our group so that was a plus. The food was decent — basic bar food. I’d definitely come back here for a fun, chill night.

Went here with friends! We went on Saturday after visiting the bar next door. This place was mighty packed, but we found some seats at the bar. The bartender was nice and he accommodated my friend, who was starving, by letting him order a burger last minute bc the kitchen was closing. I didn’t hear any complaints from my friend about his burger and chips, so I assume the food must have been decent. We had a few drinks here, but mainly beers. They have an upstairs as well and it’s pretty cool bc they bar has a big a** yellow school bus attached where the bartenders serve out of — pretty neat! I would definitely go back here for a chill night.

I’ve been passing this bar for years, and remember when it first came to the neighborhood. I’ve seen lively crowds enjoying games on the TVs, which made me think it was a sports bar. I’m usually coerced to the burbs to enjoy and watch the local teams at bars and restaurants, where the crowd is rooting for or against the home team good-naturedly and with good spirit. Last night I convinced a friend to come to the city, and we decided to finally try Trusty’s. I never thought to check Unilocal for something so close to home; I’m more than willing to give a place like this the benefit of the doubt. My friend loves to cheer the home team loudly, and I never would have suggested Trustys if I had known the staff and patrons like it quiet. We were made to feel unwelcome, and Sharkey aggressively told her there was no reason to yell at a TV. First, we thought he was joking. A football game is on two televisions in a «dive» bar with arguably the biggest rivalry in the NFL. He said he hates both teams. Trash talk! Part of any sports environment, right? I was perplexed and embarrassed by his overall reaction. I really think it could have and should have been handled better than that. Another patron huffed away from the bar out to the patio, protecting his beer from noise? Simple, courteous communication would have clarified the situation without embarrassing and verbally attacking customers. The food was tasty(we had buffalo chicken cheesesteak and a blt/grilled cheese) but the overall experience left a really bad taste in my mouth. We left and enjoyed ourselves at another bar on H St.

Awesome dive bar. Everything about it was pretty much a hit for me, except for the overly loud drunk man and woman that were annoying me to no end. However annoying drunks aren’t the bars problem. The hits, drink prices are very reasonable, cheap beer and cocktails. They offer a wide variety of bar food, cooked up right in front of you on the hot grill. I wasn’t about to try it but my friend seemed to enjoy the hamburger she was grubbing on. Trust the food is full of grease and undoubtedly unhealthy for you but so is everything in a good divey bar. Staff is friendly enough, they’re there to joke and around and have fun to not necessarily to give you service with a smile. Bartenders were smoking and joking and acting a fool and it didn’t bother me in the least. All in all, great little dumpy bar to grab a cheap drink and chill out with some buddies.

If you’re looking for a drink and fun in a divey little neighborhood bar even if it’s not your neighborhood, you’ll love Trusty’s. The place has everything you might need for a random night alone or with friends. The first floor has a full bar, a jukebox and even random games to play like Jenga and Connect 4. Awesome drinking games. If you want a bite to soak up some of the beer you might be drinking, there’s a bar food menu. You can grab a burger and chips that are actually pretty tasty. Upstairs might have the best feature. The whole upstairs bar is an actual old school bus. How awesome is that? They even have the old bus seats along the wall for additional seating. It’s a truly nostalgic feel AND it allows a feeling of rebelliousness for being able to drink«on a school bus». There’s a little outside deck upstairs too but the bus trumps it… hands down.
