If you ride a bike you should really join WABA. They lobby for bike lanes, organize events (like the singles bike-​in outdoor movies), arrange gear swaps, etc, etc.
Seriously, support WABA, they are good.

I just came back from volunteer night at WABA. The staff there were cool, and it felt really good to help out with some simple office tasks that help save them TONS of money. Even if you’re not a member, you can go volunteer, and my guess is, you’ll have such a good time, you’ll want to come back. These folks work their butts off advocating for cyclists in DC, so if you’ve felt the crunch at the pump this summer, be sure to stop on by for a volunteer night with them.
Volunteer opportunities are usually the first and third Wednesdays of the month, but check the website for details. (it’s on the left, under «volunteer»)
