WeWork Chinatown

This place is REALLY hard to review. Some aspects are terrible and others are great. Almost all of the problems are all corporate-​related issues so you’ll probably see the same problems at most of the locations. I’ve worked here for about 2 years and I can easily write a thesis on my experiences but I’ll try to keep it reasonable and useful.
Short story 1: Our company of approximately 30 employees moved in about 2 years ago. The corporate sales guy told us we could put our servers in their network closets. I consolidated what we had to about 8U worth for you nerds out there that know what I’m talking about and the rest went to our data center. Two weeks before we moved in, I had to constantly harass them every day to get someone on the phone so I could start installing our equipment and getting the place set up. I finally got a call from their VP of Technology who said «you wouldn’t let me in your server room, would you? So why would I let you in ours?» I was astonished and livid. His comment had nothing to do with the situation. Our entire company was depending on installing our infrastructure because we were told it was okay by the corporate sales guy. I won’t bore you on how I got the situation resolved but it was a complete disaster.
Short story 2: When we moved in, WeWork only had a cable modem to provide Internet to it’s customers. Ridiculous, I know. Our company depends on a high-​speed, low-​latency connection to our data center for our Unified Communications (phone) system. When I asked corporate about their Internet connection, they said they have a contract with Verizon and will get a fiber connection when they can. I told them we need something sooner so I was going to contact our existing network provider, Level 3, and have them install a fiber connection for us. Corporate (some VP I believe) literally laughed at me and said there was no way I’d be able to get a fiber connection to the building before them. Needless to say, I had a fiber connection within a month. AND… another month later, WeWork had their own fiber in from the same company I used, NOT Verizon.
THE GOOD: Free coffee, filtered water, collaboration with other companies, great place to meet new people and network, great location with lots of food in the area, they allow dogs, community events, friendly staff.
THE BAD: Shitty furniture that breaks and squeaks, cheap desks that don’t sit level and have splinters and ruin your cloths, no QoS on their internal network, unlevel floors so you roll away from your desk if you’re not holding on, not enough bathroom stalls/​urinals, not enough refrigerator space, rooftop deck is so loud from HVAC units it’s not really usable, horribly controlled/​balanced heating and AC, no privacy and the curtains don’t do a thing to keep your convo private.
When you first walk in, you’ll be completely amazed and think it’s the coolest place ever… and it COULD be a great with some changes. Also, don’t bother with this place if you have more than 10 people in your company; it just doesn’t work well. I really wish I could work for corporate and get their asses in gear. It’s a great concept but needs work. Unfortunately, I believe corporate is too busy expanding to realize the product quality is suffering.

I wanted to try wework. after join in on july 2015, I immediately knew it is not for me.

2. so I cancelled my wework via wework website around august 1. they wanted to charge me august. that is fine.
but now it is oct. 7, wework charged me sept. and October. why?
3. I tried to contact wework, no reply. send them email, and contact via their online instant message, no reply to my question, though they keep sending out messages.
their phone, (877) 868‑8335, the one list in Unilocal and google, the voicemail says, the mailbox is full. nobody picked up the phone at oct. 7, 2015, Thursday, 11 am. I can not leave a message.
I will going to dispute with my credit card company.

Perfect for work or extracurricular meetings.
I attend monthly meetings here, and the space is really accommodating. It has a rustic yet modern feel, and everyone always seems happy to be there.
With a great central location, this makes for a great workspace.

Beautiful facility and excellent staff, but a painful shortage of restrooms. There is always a line. Perhaps they should place port-​a-​pottys on the rooftop deck.

Beautiful facility! One of my clients was located here but they are now at the Wonderbread Factory. I came here to work a few days and enjoyed it very much. The offices are super hip and the meetings rooms are equipped with the latest technology. Very innovative space and you can feel the good vibes from everyone.

My IT issues have now been fixed and the Internet is up to full speed, so I am updating my review. However, it is not up to 5 stars due to the lack of IT support when I needed it, as well as small problems that still seem to crop up somewhat regularly with printers, access card readers, and running out of kitchen amenities.

WeWork has a great workspace, architecture, amenities, and friendly staff. I cannot say enough good things about almost everything… except…
I cannot give them any more stars until they fix their IT problems. The DC Chinatown office has been experiencing internet problems since the day it opened. There are promises to get it fixed, which is great, but for now the fact remains that you can’t exactly run an internet business when there are frequent internet problems.
In addition, their IT department is woefully understaffed. For almost 2 MONTHS we have been trying to get a network issue fixed to allow my computer to automatically connect to a remote VPN. Note this is not some strange setup: everything works fine at home with a vanilla Comcast installation. Again, the staff is very friendly and promise they are trying to hire more staff, but the facts remain the facts.
So far I have been able to manage despite these frustrating problems. I look forward to improving my rating when the IT situation improves.

Being the new kid on the block, WeWork has definitely created a group of followers, which is not surprisingly since it is WeWork. The place is modern full of ambitious yet down to earth people. The amenities are good, location is amazing (only 123 steps away from the metro entrance), plenty of events going on even though it is barely a 3 months old, and the WeWork team is off the chain.

There’s a new buzzword in town and it’s co-​working! Hip new office spaces for mobile workers such as myself have been popping around town left and right but I was particularly excited about the new WeWork space since it has such a big reputation in the New York and San Francisco area.
Their Community Manager invited me in for a tour and I was very impressed with the following features:
*Restaurant style private phone booths
*Private offices with lots of windows
*Serene green room for when you need to relax
*Cute kitchen complete with beer tap
*Fruit infused water
WeWork just opened a few weeks ago so it lacked the buzz and community feeling of other established places such as 1776 but I am sure that it will change soon.
I was a little bit put off with the aggressive sales tactics. Basically I was given a fifteen minute tour and then taken into an office where they basically asked me to sign papers. I’m new to the whole co-​working thing but these are things that I need to think about. I have heard of other spaces in the city that offer free trials so you can see if it you jive well with the place and if it fits your lifestyle. I said I needed a minute to think about and if I could get a free session. They offered me a free week which was really wonderful. The place was very quiet and the seats were comfortable. Wifi was quick and easy to connect to which is always a plus.
I was unable to return the next day because of Snochi but I have already received an email asking if I want paperwork to sign on. Again, a tad bit aggressive for my taste but I will take my own time to look and see if this place is right for me (by the looks of it– it seems amazing!).
