You are paying for the idea here. Don’t get me wrong, the idea is amazing I wish I thought of it. But this places on par with Subway and Panera bread. If you’re looking for someplace go to for subs, go to Subway panera bread or even Pita pit, but if you’re looking for place to give you subs with style and flair come here you won’t regret it.

Left after sitting for half an hour, without an appetizer appearing. Pitiful service.

I love Which Wich. I’ve been to several across the country. This one needs a bit of help. My first visit took ten minutes to get my sandwich(not bad), but the second visit took over half an hour. The three people making sandwiches were moving at a snail’s pace and the queue of sandwiches to be made looked at least 25 deep. The dining area was mostly people waiting. Very few people actually had their food. My advice: check out the queue of sandwich bags hanging behind the counter to see if it’s worth putting in an order. If it’s not, head up the road to Jimmy John’s for much much much faster service.

I stumbled upon this place when looking for a spot to get a cheap lunch in the city. I was blown away with how good the food was! Only $ 6 for a small sub, which was still enough to fill me up. The bread they use has great texture and taste, and the topping choices are extensive and very high quality. I liked it so much, I went back the next day for lunch – super yummy!

It’s really a «meh» but the gentleman at the front giving directions bumped it up. Their first strike was that despite me requesting a «hotwich» I got a «coldwich». I believe they’ve got a great idea, but somehow it’s a touch over complicated and taking an order or confirming your order when you hand the person the bag could do wonders for not getting it wrong. Yes I know, that happens and sometimes they still get it wrong, but I do think that something has gotten lost in the mix here. I felt that when I was eating my avocado tomato(with cold mozerella cheese) that about half the requested seasonings/toppings were neglected. It was relatively tasty. I made it thru half of a medium(which is too big btw if you don’t have some sort of ginormous appetite or just not used to that much bread/food) before I resigned the rest. I could have eaten a little more but I was done with it by that point. And I’m sure the toppings that were neglected on one half wouldn’t have showed up on the other if I dug in. All in all, I work right across the street and I’m still going to make the trek to potbelly. It’s a better value and better tasting and direction following place. Did I mention my sandwich was $ 9! no chips! no extras! To me that was robbery for a mediocre sandwich. Sorry Which Wich… but it’ll be a while before I come back.

My first visit when I went to Which Wich I would have rated this place with only 3 stars because when you first walk in you have to choose which sandwich bag and then choose all your toppings. Then you are pleasantly greeted by the staff that you pay with but afterwards the wait is about 10 – 15 mins for a sandwich. As I continued to wait… I was really hoping that I wouldnt be disappointed. But after my 1st bite… I thought to myself Potbelly/Subway who? LOL So I gave this place a second shot, but instead of going there and ordering my sandwich. I ordered online and after you place your order online it lets you know how long before your order is ready which gives you time to get everything together and walk over. Sandwich was still delicious. But the staff still need some improvement we ordered multiple sandwiches and there was no names of the sandwich, nor was there a description on what the sandwich was. We had to open all the sandwiches just to determine what was which. But as they continue to improve I know eventually I will come back to change my ratings to 5 Stars.

The service was a 4. The sandwich is a 2. The idea is not bad, but this place is too small to have so much going on. You get your sandwhich bag where YOU mark off what you want on it, give the bag to the person at the register, but there is no place to wait for your food, without interfering with the people who are seated. The Bahn Mi sandwich was not tasty, too much breading on the shrimp, none of the flavors gelled together for me, the bread was dry to lifeless. My chocolate– banana milkshake was not bad, but that was a separate line and wait from the sandwich line? The garage band rock and the yellow shoe strings they have employees wear in their black shoes are all cool and hip. But, then I’m seated and the sandwich bags colored and decorated for the troops are right above my head and my seat is against the display, 2 bubbly graduates wanted to put their patriotic sandwich bags up, so I got up(with a smile ofcourse) and let them pin their bags… nice gesture, but really a pain in the a… for whoever is sitting in that little area. Suggestion: The patriotic sandwhich bags could be moved to the front of the establishment. Probably won’t be coming back, why? I can get a better sandwich and milkshake at Potbelly’s for the same price.

Came here for lunch today and was greeted by a friendly employee named John, who gave the full lowdown on the menu and how to order. Like Zombie Coffee and Donuts, this Which Wich did a good job explaining everything and how to go about ordering. I settled with a BBQ Chicken sandwich on Wheat and it was delicious. There’s a great variety of ingredients and only a few come with an extra charge, which I like. Like &Pizza, you can load up as much as you like without any extra costs, depending on what you select. A very nice set up, as well. It has elements of Subway’s and Cosi’s, but the environment is a bit more… chill, I should say. At least, from my first experience. I would caution potential customers on what TIME they choose to go, though. I went around 1:30 pm and there were only four or so people in front of me, which is fine. I tried going last week around noon and the line went out the door, so to Roti’s I went. So yes, it’s a great restaurant and I would very much recommend it, but just be careful of what time you choose to go.

My first try at Which Wich. The gentleman greeted us at the door and asked if this was our first time here. He went through the different bags to choose from and what toppings to add. I ordered the BLT Bag 8 as a Lettucwich because I am on a low carb diet. I requested extra bacon since I was not sure on the regular amount. Waited 10 minutes. The cost was $ 7.00. It appeared huge but when I unwrapped it, it was mostly lettuce. An okay BLT. The extra bacon was a normal serving on any BLT. A little disappointed by it. I would suggest they use another type of lettuce… Romaine which is healthier and easy to create a lettucwich without so much lettuce.

The shrimp banh mi was delicious. Too bad it was great the first time only. I’ve gotten 4 – 5 other coworkers to visit, but I don’t know if they ever went back. One said it was expensive, so did my husband. He said he’s had better Italian sandwiches and he prefers Potbellys. The wait time was a bit much though… 20 – 30 minutes, depending on how busy they are. I went after 1:30pm on my first visit too; 30 min wait which is my entire lunch. I went at 2pm another day and it’s still a 20+ min wait. I’m getting lesser and less jalapeños(like 2 pieces) on my banh mi every time I go.

Maybe I ordered the wrong thing — sriracha tuna on wheat, with veggies. Maybe I went at the wrong time — noon on a Wednesday. The sandwich was super soggy(glad I didn’t have them add more condiments!), and it was … soooo… slow. From filling out my little baggy with my order to getting my sandwich, it was 22 minutes. The people working there were very nice and friendly, and they sure seemed to be working hard. It just doesn’t seem like the set up is made to deal with the volume of traffic they can get in this rather restaurant-deprived part of DC. I guess I’ll stick with food trucks for the time being.

I’ve been to Which Whiches in other states so I was excited when this one opened up near my office. I’m sad to report it’s not as good as I remember! First off, the space is small and poorly designed. There’s no place to line up so the line snaked through the place or out the door. Also, there’s only one cash register! One! It took me 20 minutes to get through the line, order, and pay. Then I had to wait another 15 minutes for my sandwich. That’s more than half of my lunch break. I went twice the opening week and had the shrimp banh mi and the black bean patty. Both were just ok. I’m hoping the mediocre experiences are because it’s new and the employees are still learning the ropes. But the store is so poorly designed that many of the problems can’t be solved unless they rearrange to add registers and more sandwich making stations. Even so, I’ll probably be back because it’s close to my office and they have a lot of variety.
