Ordered from Wok and Roll. It arrived 30 minutes later in a congealed, disgusting mess. I called multiple times to discuss and conveniently reached someone who did not speak English(though this was not the pattern before I expressed concern). When I did speak with someone who spoke English, they refused to refund my money for such poor quality and service. I found the food to be gross and the service to be even more disgusting.

I was looking for sushi take out and I wasn’t really impressed. I guess that’s what you get from most asian restaurants. It isn’t a bad option but I wouldn’t say it’s as good as grocery store sushi. I actually prefer going to harris teeter and getting the sushi that they make in house. This review is only for their sushi so it is possible that their other menu items are better.

Specifically about the bar, Karaōke bar in particular: I hate to be the asshole who writes a bad review, but this place deserves it. Specifically about the bar. If you put a «zombie» on your menu — it needs to be a zombie. It should have 3 rums in it, a light rum, a dark rum, and topped off at the end with Bacardi 151. If you are not sure, google it. Here they argued with me over the ingredients. I expect that after having a zombie, I will go from sober to somewhat tipsy very quickly. That’s the idea. That’s the whole point. that’s why it’s called a zombie. Nope. not here. They don’t put bacardie 151, they tell me I’m wrong(I’m a bartender too, I apparently know a little more than they do) and it took me FIVE drinks at this place to get SOMEWHAT tipsy. I dunno what’s going on here, but if you plan on having a drink, don’t come here, they’ll rip you off and make fake drinks while they’re at it. 0/10, would not recommend. Oh, and they had the audacity to include gratuity automatically after all that.

Great spot to get some good food with the kids. The staff was super friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our dinner very much. My husband enjoyed the beef and broccoli while the children and I shared the sautéed vegetables, crab wontons, white rice(my daughters favorite ever) and some sushi.

Got delivery on a Sunday night. Food was just okay. Some rolls had imitation crab where the menu didn’t say it would be imitation. The smaller usual rolls were good but the spicy yellowtail had more cucumber than yellowtail which is odd since most don’t come with cucumber at all. So this filler technique was disappointing. Also the specialty roll I ordered was subpar and I much rather order two smaller rolls instead. The specialty rolls are overpriced and not the best combinations.

This review is for the karaōke facilities at Wok and Roll. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our karaōke room was a little smokey but not enough that it was a distraction. The karaōke systems were a little confusing but a staff member came in to help us figure things out. The only compliant is that we noticed a couple of inconsistencies in our bill at the end of the night. During the night, people ordered drinks at the bar and either paid upfront or opened their own personal tab. After getting the room’s total bill(including karaōke charges), we noticed that several of the drinks that were paid for at the bar were also added to the overall room charge. Some people in our group noticed this in advance, while others did not and paid twice. Additionally, the room’s total bill included tax and a 18% gratuity. When we split the bill between our group, the total amount(including tax and gratuity) was split. In the split versions of the bill, additional gratuity was added. So we ended out paying close to 40% gratuity without realizing it. While we wish we had noticed these inconsistencies before paying, but we also didn’t expect Wok and Roll to design its billing process in a way that would double charge us unless we caught its mistake.

Some of my friends told me to not go there, but I still went there anyways(Feb 28, 2016) because I usually went there when I visit Chinatown. After that time, I will never go there again. It is the worst restaurant ever! The waitress was unfriendly, rude, no service-mind. My friend asked a question about her dish but the waitress answered very rudely like she didn’t want to talk to her. So I gave less than 15% tip but the waitresses asked me to give them more(as they always did). The receipt had like«recommended tip» written down for us as if I have to pay it. They didn’t deserve what was written on the recommended tip so I gave them less than 15% tip. The owner of the restaurant should not let servers ask for tip because the get the tip they deserve. We argued a little bit cause I didn’t think they deserved 15% Food tasted terrible and oily. The soup was tasteless. I wouldn’t recommend it. Not worth for what you pay for.

Bubble tea: WARNING! Very very sweet! Too sweet for my taste, maybe some sweet-tooths might like it, but not for me. It felt like they added gallops of sweetening flavoring syrup. The bubbles were hard and tasted stale/frozen. It reminded me of chips that you leave open for a few days, but it’s tapioca. People that gave the good reviews like their bubble super sweet with hard stale bubbles, or they simply don’t know any better. But for me personally, it’s not my cup of tea.

My estimated time was 40 — 60 minutes and they didn’t get to me until after 1 hour and 45 minutes. The second time I called, the woman hung up on me. I called back and instead of apologizing she said I hug up on her. I heard the click of her phone when she did. Once I got my food, it was cold and bland. I had to drench it in soy and sriracha because there was no flavoring. I won’t be ordering here again.

Ate here while doing research for an upcoming historical tour I’m leading. During the 1860’s this building was the Surratt Boarding House, which played an important role in the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln. Did John Wilkes Booth like kung pao chicken? Moo shu pork? History aside, the food and service were both good and I will come back again with our Meetup tour group. It’s pretty cool they have a plaque outside and some additional historical info inside.

Food was pretty good all except for our missing waitress and my daughters missing Lomein. It was hard to get someone to our rable to correct this. Our waitress seemed overwhelmed. It was on Groupon though and the sushi was good and fresh. Our drink order was a mess as well. No kids menu here. Pineapple rice was full of fredh seafood. It was enough to fill pur bellies.

It certainly is divey lightening not the best. Its not a very clean place. Ordered Miso soup which was a bit cold however, very standard Miso soup. Our wine glasses were very dirty. The sushi rolls were amazing. The summer roll refreshing and differnt. Sakura roll great. Sushi and can be made to specifications if you have allergies. The staff is efficient. Certainly needs a make over/facelift. If I do come back it will be to go…

The experience is so horrible I’m actually writing the review while having my meal. DC and gokd, authentic Chinese don’t normally go together, but I was feeling adventurous and decided to try it. I come in, doesn’t look bad yet not all too inspiring for a good meal. After returning to my seat from the restroom, the waitress asked me for my order. I’m like, «Can’t a brother sit, open the menu, have an internal debate of chow foon or General Tso and bust out his phone for a sec?» First signal flaring. Upon opening the menu, my eyes began to melt as the font, layout and order did not work together. Mind you the waitress is still there. While waiting for my beef chow foon, another waitress place sushi rolls on my table. I was confused and thought that it came with the lunch special, which wrote something on the bottom of it. Not giving it much thought, I began eating when the other waitress came up, snatch the food and told the other waitress that I didn’t order this and looked at me like I did something wrong. She walks to the back with the sushi, and I’m wondering what is she going to do with the unbeaten ones. Hopefully they don’t give it to someone else. I’m pissed now, and the rest of the experience went down the toilet like the food. Their beef chow foon taste salty, like how I’m feeling, and like they put too much baking soda in it. The noodles are spongy with no taste kinda like Jeb Bush without the exotiness of being«foreign». Okay, I’m so done with this place.

Website advertises a flat per karaōke room fee, not hourly. nowhere on the website does it say PERHOUR. only on the signs in the room does it tell you the true rate. this is false advertising. we made a reservation based on this thinking and at the end of our 3 hour stint we were shocked with a $ 105 bill. sure your signs say the true rate but when you make plans based on the web rate and go into it with that thinking it really dampens the minimal fun you do have. second, not only was the room not worth $ 35 anyway(worn our furniture, old TVs, terrible sound system) but the karaōke machine is impossible to figure out without a Phd in star trek panel operation. not only that but the selection of music is absolutely terrible. they have a ton of artists with chinese character names that no one knows and the pop artists they do have are lacking in selection. paid a gratuity for what? we had to go to the bar and order… no beers on tap, food is mediocre. the list just continues. save your money by using the spotify lyrics feature on your computer and have a karaōke at home with cheaper better food and booze. oh and when i confronted the management about the false advertising on their website they said i should have read the sign. sorry but i’m disputing this transaction and getting my money back. victor Q, sorry but this isn’t a lie, check your website and fix it if you don’t want people to point out false advertising.

Ok Chinese food. Just okay. Not that well flavored but it will do. The dumplings were totally weird and thick and huge and the food was overall okay. Make sure you ask for less oil! I did this and it was still oily but not unbearable. Also, delivery took forever

I ordered delivery, so it might explain the poor quality of the food(although it shouldn’t be an excuse). As for the food: The chicken chow-mein was composed of dried noodles in a bag, and a separate stew based plate with chicken and vegetables. The crispy beef plate was too sweet and lacked crispiness, more ‘mushy’ than crispy. Not good.

I only consumed vino food while my friend ate, but the customer service was outstanding. They offer the complimentary fried Won Tons to snack on & clear tasting water. The Server stopped by a few times before we were ready to order just to make sure we were good. It was a quick meal for my friend, who ordered the basic Chicken & Broccoli & a side of Hot Pepper Oil. Our Sever was a non stop smiler & handled all of her tables with ease. For the mixture of Chinese & Sushi, they offer an extensive selection. There’s a Sushi Bar in the back, a small bar when you walk in to your right & tables running along the left side. Believe it or not, for this H Street location, it’s a nice size eatery. The restroom is very cramped & could use a more frequent cleaning check in, yet for the most part, it serves it’s purpose. Prices are very good, food comes out fresh & quick, so no complaints there. I’d be back to try the food the next time I’m in the area & hungry for quick Chinese/Sushi.

We order sushi from them regularly and LOVE their tiger shrimp roll and the dynamite roll. Delivery is quick(and free) and they always call before they arrive so our dogs don’t go crazy and wake the baby. Would totally recommend them for delivery — have never been to the actual restaurant itself.

The first time I came here, I thought, okay… standard Chinese takeout food! Not horrible. The second time I came here, I got food poisoning. I couldn’t sleep all night, and wound up getting even sicker the next morning. Not sure what it was that set it off, but I’m probably not going to be going back here for a while, or at least sticking to more basics – egg rolls and white rice. The cocktails, however, are very strong. I haven’t tried the sushi here, and frankly, I am probably not going too. I think this place will just be on my list for late-night options.

The employees were very nice, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was friendly. It had great Chinese food, if you’re looking for the Chinese experience for food this is a great place to go to. A lot of people said that it got very sick, but I felt fine after I ate. I had a great experience there and would definitely come back!

This is your classic Americanized Chinese food. Got sesame beef and general tsao’s chicken. Neither were particularly flavorful or crispy, but delivered the familiar umami and sugary flavors you would expect from the dishes. The portions were decently sized and the prices just a tad bit higher than you’d want for uninspired Chinese food. The ambience is nothing special — if you want to liven up the experience you can head upstairs and do karaōke — this is definitely one of the best karaōke spots in the city.

A last minute decision to vote on a sushi restaurant before venturing into a night of craziness at the Verizon Center led us here. What a wonderful little surprise =) This little sushi joint was a pleasant surprise and worth trying out. Everything we ordered was explained in detail on the menu, super fresh, colorful, and yummy. I would totally come here again! I have been told that this place is just mediocre and not good enough to try out – Let me tell you something… I am super(SUPER) picky when it comes to raw food and this place is legit.

The line was too long for ramen so we ended up here for lunch. I ordered the sesame chicken special with a side of wonton soup. The soup was inedible. It had a super weird fishy flavor to it. The sesame chicken was more like orange chicken or chicken with sweet and sour sauce. I thought I had the wrong thing. It tasted fine though. My friend got a salmon skin roll that left her with salmon breath the rest of the day. It just wasn’t very good.

Giving only one star is not a common occurrence for me. This is only the second one star rating I have ever given… Anyways, this place is absolutely horribly and should be ignored by all. The restaurant and food are sub par and overpriced. The drinks are also ridiculously over priced. if you happen to venture upstairs into the kareoke area, things get even worse. The food and drink cost even more upstairs even though it’s the same establishment! Specials from downstairs don’t carry upstairs. Also, upstairs charges a ridiculous gratuity on absolutely everything… Gratuity is supposed to be for services rendered! Even if you rent a kareoke room for an hour or more, they charge a ridiculous gratuity onto it! Avoid this place like the plague. They supposedly have a group area kareoke that is free, but the employees also refused to turn that on for us as they were busy playing clash of clans on their phones instead of running their business… I highly recommend finding some other place for a group meeting.

I don’t know if it’s just me but I was sick to my stomach after eating here. The fried rice contained very dark pieces of chicken that were not easily recognized as chicken. The crab Rangoon were mostly fried bread with very little anything in it. The general tsao chicken and the sesame chicken had a terrible aftertaste and they both tasted the same as of cooked in the same sauce. Plus there was no absolutely no spicy flavor to the general tsao and that’s the only reason we ordered it. I do not plan on returning to this place other than to check out their karaōke. Honestly this place might have truly turned me off Chinese food for awhile. I was sick to my stomach and lethargic after eating their food. Buyer beware. Maybe it’s just with delivery. I don’t know. But my experience was subpar for sure.

Ordered delivery from Wok and Roll last night. The delivery was speedy, good for them! But the food was just, as Unilocal puts it, Meh. The fish had an off flavor, and my bf got the General Tso’s chicken, which was a goopy florescent red, and he said it wasnt good, which is crazy because he loves everything! Probably won’t be ordering from them again, unfortunately.

Can I say the best Kung Pao Chicken I’ve EVER had!!! OMG… I thought I had gone back to China for a moment, not that this dish can actually be found in China but you get the point. ;) My son and I decided to pop in and grab a bite before a movie. We only decided to go because I had a Groupon and it was soon to expire. Boy, am I glad I did. The food was so good and the portion was ridiculously large so I had enough left over for lunch the next day. There Kung Pao Chicken only comes with celery and peanuts but you can add other veggies for $ 2 more. I hate celery so I opted to just have it with the peanuts. I ordered stemmed green beans as a side dish($ 2 extra charge). I ate so much I thought my belly was going to pop. It was so good and I was going to the movies so my goal was to eat it all. However, my belly screamed mercy and I had to pack up the extra and carry out. The food was as wonderful the second day as it was the first. That was indeed a pleasant surprise because Chinese food doesn’t usually lend well to reheating. All in all, I’d give this place two thumbs up and I’ll most definitely be back. It’s a great hidden Chinatown gem that you simply must try.

Came here for sushi happy hour with a friend and it was just an OK experience. You can’t beat the prices – pretty cheap, $ 5 – 6 rolls that were fine. I tried the spicy tuna, spicy crunchy shrimp, and shrimp skin roll, along with the crab Rangoon. Service was fast but there were kids in the place that added to the racket, and the interior seemed kind of worn down. All in all it was just an average experience. My friend couldn’t stop talking about her honey bubble tea though, so you should definitely get one if you’re there. I trust this chick on her food.

Their spider roll was exceptional. That is the only reason for the second star. The biggest offense was that our server was rude and impatient. Find a different job then if you don’t like people and serving them. When we first arrived, I went to wash my hands. Nothing about this place is upscale but we were down for the challenge. But in the restroom I decided this place is actually in deep water if the health department shows up– no soap, no paper towels, no tissue on the roll… Unsanitary. Once I realized that the staff could not wash their hands I was disgusted and really couldn’t eat what I ordered.
