Yum’s Carry Out

This place is a mess! My husband delivered from here and the man wanted my husband to come to the car instead of the to delivering the food to the house. There was a bug in the white rice from there we couldn’t eat anything else. I called yums for a refund, they would only refund what I didn’t eat and they wanted the food back plus they wanted to see it for themselves. They said I put the bug in the rice. They did not apologize for anything nor did they try to replace the food (I didn’t want none of it anyway). If I knew how to take the star off they would not get a star from me. I am reporting them for that.

This was the most disgusting food I’ve ever had, I found a hair in my food and all I wanted to do was throw up. This place is horrible do not eat there.

You know what? Screw this place. Fine food, consistently terrible service. Sometimes they randomly hang up on you halfway through an order, sometimes you show up and they don’t acknowledge that you ever called and ordered something, sometimes they put you on hold until you hang up after 7 minutes. They never remember to give chopsticks when you ask either. Their hours are also completely inconsistent so they’re not even reliable as a late night place.

Worst service of all time! Rude girl tries to rush the order and get me off the phone. When I correct her mistake with the order she says «I don’t have time for this.» Give me a break… I cancelled and moved on. If possible, I would give negative stars.

Ordered Chinese food delivery. My food showed up burnt and it was gross. I don’t think I’ll be ordering from here again.

I honestly starting to think these reviews are fake… they got my order wrong then said 1 free meal that’s ok… called back «You don’t get free meal I don’t know you…» She yelled at me for 5 mins saying that… I then proceeded to go there I’ve never been inside the resturant before hence I always get delivery…1 word appalled… I saw 1 bug crawling on the wall… I walked right out… I don’t even want it anymore!!! PLEASE DON’T EAT HERE they are rude and just plain Nasty!!!

The was the absolute worse delivery/​customer service i’ve experienced, and this is someone that comes from a Customer Service driven background career wise.
My roomie and I were hungry (me mostly from bday recovery) and not wanting to go out in the icy weather so we figured now would be the time to try out some quick chinese in our new neighborhood. With a Shrimp Egg Foo Yung and a 3 piece wing for here, we waited for our 30 – 45 min span.
Well that’s where the ease and convenience went downhill quick. My delivery man wanted me to come all the way out to the car and then when I gave him a card he freaked. Now arguably I’m not a frequent user of fast chinese food so I didn’t realize you needed to specify on the phone when ordering that you’ll be using a card. Again nobody made me aware or asked on the phone, but even so I had cash and said that to the delivery guy who proceeded to come into the lobby of my building, ignoring me and yelling on the phone to figure it out.
Long story short he left, I called the place back and after wanting to cancel it but my bf said he would deal with it, they came back 30 mins later with no apology and delivered the original order which by this point was cold and gross.
As a new city resident, I’m learning to definitely proceed with caution in the future with some of these carry outs and will never use a CC again… or use this place

I was sold after reading the reviews; however, upon getting my delivery, it was disappointed. The sauce of the wings was pretty tasty. That’s it. The rice was bland and smelled funny with only 5 shrimp on it. Complete waste of money.

Love cheap neighborhood Chinese food. They have everything you’re looking for — cheap, greasy and steak n cheeses!!!

Generally not impressed. Even as far as DC Chinese goes. The fried rice was good and so was the homemade ice tea, but he sesame chicken was mostly bread with a few pieces of really bad chicken.

My partner decided to order from this restaurant because their menu was at our hotel. What a disappointment. I say this in all seriousness: I’ve never had such bad food or service.
First, when we called the order, the woman taking our order kept interrupting us, saying, «Ok. Bye!» Mind you, this when in the middle of our sentences, and repeatedly. Honestly, it should have been our first clue, and we should have said, «OK. Bye!» and found a different place to eat. Eventually, she hung up on us without taking our payment (another clue that we, in our hunger, decided to ignore).
When the food came, they had messed up 4 of our items (we only got 6) — not wholly surprising, considering the attentiveness of the woman we ordered from. Evidently Sprite is actually code for Ginger Ale and Diet Pepsi is a pseudonym for Fruit Punch. They completely missed the Sweet Potato Pie we ordered (although I’m thinking this might have been a good thing, in the long run) and gave us the wrong dinner.
The food itself is woefully bad. Each item had a rubbery texture — even the fried rangoons were chewy instead of crunchy. They managed to somehow make the Mandarin Chicken and Broccoli Beef taste exactly the same (as well as rubbery), and their spring rolls were nothing more than fried wrappings with nothing in them.
I only just finished, so I can’t testify to what this horrid food is going to do to my stomach, but lets just say I don’t look forward to the rest of my evening…
. And just so you have a frame of reference: My expectations were not high. From time to time, I like greasy cheap Chinese food as much as the next person who has a late-​night craving, but this food was bad: worse than Panda Garden, worse than Safeway’s version of Chinese food, worse than any mall or airport Chinese food — I would have gladly traded this meal for any of the above…
Please, don’t make our mistake. Avoid this place. Neither the food nor the service is worth your time and money

Got the beef FR and spare rib tips the other day… Pretty good overall. I miss the NYC dirty Chinese food places. But Yum’s will do.
Oh, and the online menu is different than the actual menu in terms of pricing. It’s about a dollar off on some of the items.
I think on this app it’ll tell you that it won’t deliver to some locations. I ended up just calling and they delivered perfectly fine.

The delivery guy was incredibly rude even though I waited an hour for my food. The customer service when I called in was horrible. The food is disgusting Go anywhere but here. There are other options, I promise you.

Used to be pretty good but has gone downhill recently. Constantly making mistakes on my order, leaving items off, etc. And once I tried to point out some items left off the lady argued with me! The goodness of their Crab Rangoon has declined too :(hey don’t even deliver to my address anymore and I haven’t moved in almost four years. Bummer

I have to say that this is now one of the better chinese takeout joints in DC. I’ve ordered from them numerous times and they have improved to now make it right nearly every time. My usual is General Tso’s chicken, but several of there other dishes are equally tasty. If you order fried items and want the red sweet and sour sauce you MUST ask for it otherwise you’ll get packets of duck sauce. Plus, now that they deliver throughout northeast DC, I’m ordering from them even more. Thanks Yums for fulfilling my endless cravings for Chinese food.

Whenever I order Chinese takeout, I sometimes get a queasy feeling at the bottom of my stomach because I don’t know whether or not the facilities are clean.
Well, I ordered Chinese food from here yesterday, and I have to admit the food seemed a little bit off. Yes, the servers were very friendly when I called them, and they came in 20 minutes (which was pretty good for a Saturday night), but when they arrived at the hotel, the courier told me it was cash only, so he had to get my card and call the restaurant himself. Note to everyone who plans to order food from here.
I took the food to my room to celebrate the end of a good week, and the food was dry. The crab rangoon I ordered was stiff, and I had to rip it with my teeth in order to eat it. I also did not taste any crab rangoon in the center of the wonton. The sweet and sour chicken I ordered was better, and they gave me a large carton of it together with two containers of sweet and sour sauce. It tasted really hearty.
I am not really sure if I would order food from here again. I am skeptical about the quality of their food. The crab rangoon was barely edible, and I think that all of their food may be heavily fried, so it isn’t an ideal place for those who like to eat healthy once in a while.

The food — or what I ate of the food until I lost my appetite — was fine. That said, I prefer my dinner to be free of hair, dried nasal material, and unidentifiable and definitely inedible… whatever it was. I tried very hard to come up with reasons that the food I’d already had a mouthful of couldn’t possibly have dried boogers in it, alas, there is nothing else that looks like that.
I will absolutely never order from here again.

I love this place. Cause its convenient for delivery.
I LOVE their friggin french fries.
The fried chicken is quite delicious.
The sweet and sour chicken was good but some pieces were super dry and chewy.
The cashew chicken is great!
There mumbo sauce is spelled «mumble» on the menu… teehee.
I do hate that they’ll call you to come get the food from their car. Is this normal for dc delivery places? Especially in the rain. But I’ll survive, lol.
Oh and the fried fish sub was good too.
i have noticed the print menu they have does not say «No added MSG». So I might just enjoy this cause it’s been MSG’d …
These observations are over a two month period of ordering from these guys.

Ordered from here for lunch. Not good, not fresh. I got the «food is about to turn sour/​bad» taste and sensation on my third bite into hunan chicken. The lo mein wasn’t any better. It all looked and tasted old. 1 star for an acceptable egg roll, and 1 star for edible rice.
Not recommended.

Yum’s… Is yummy! Haha. I have tried sesame shrimp from other Chinese restaurants but none so far has come close to the taste of yum’s sesame shrimp (extra spicy) … ⁵⁄₅
OH! and their eggrolls have shrimp in them… unlike other eggrolls with just vege.
