I went to the Elks Lodge in Washington last night for a girls night. I also was lucky enough to witness some of the rituals and traditions of the club to get an overall Elks experience. Sometimes I feel clubs and organizations like this perpetuate old-fashion views that are best kept in the past, but I don’t get that feeling at all at the Elks. The Washington Elks represents the best in small town culture. A community of people who care about each other and come together for some AB products and a good time. Women and men are equal members, and even if you are not a member, you are welcomed into this club for a killer bar experience. Now that I am off my soap box… it’s a great bar and a good venue for a wedding. The hall itself is a blank slate for fabulous decorations and big enough to fit a Washington wedding guest list. Their $ 1 Burger, $ 1 Fry nights are stuff of legend, and it has a fabulous new-ish patio. You must be with a member to get in, and they are serious about that policy. The no-smoking ban is amazing so you are covered in smoke when you leave. Overall, great place for a good time. If I ever move back to Washington, I would be privileged to be an Elk.
