Stayed here last weekend with my lady, little one, and 2 pups. It was great! We stayed at Southern Comfort. It has one bedroom, and chair sleeper, which was perfect for us. The fridge had some breakfast for us already, we just picked up some milk and meat for dinner. The area was beautiful, the dogs loved taking walk in the evening and we also saw the dogs that lived on the farm, with a few donkeys. There was no internet or TV, but that was perfect for us. We were looking for a electronics free weekend. We brought some board games, and had a blast. All in all, I would recommend this place and plan to go back.

(I had to add a star: our experience was out in the cabins, which doesn’t fairly represent the place. The main house is really something :) My wife and I, as well as another couple, went and rented a couple cabins out here. Here’s how it was: First impression: lovely place. It’s situated on 232 acres, and the cabins are located at the far corners of the property(the drive up from the front gate to our cabin was right at a mile). The main house is halfway up, and from there two roads split off, heading to the two groups of cabins. The main house was really impressive: though it was built specifically to serve as a B&B, it looks much older. We were greeted by a couple of friendly pups: we love dogs, and hope you do too, since the place is pet-friendly. We checked in, then explored the main house and finally headed to our cabins. **NOTE: IFYOU’REINTHECABINSANDDRIVING A CAR, BECAREFUL! The roads leading to the cabins are crushed granite, most of which has wound up in the middle of the road. You’ll have to keep half your car off the road to avoid punching a hole in your oil pan!** The cabin: The cabins are park trailers that have been extensively decorated inside. Ours had a nice deck with a table, chairs and LP grill, and a smaller deck off the bedroom with a hot tub; however, I don’t think the unit was checked before we arrived, since the decks, chairs, porch rails and hot tub cover had been extensively dive-bombed by the local bird population, the hot tub was full of bees, the screen door was off its track, and the vertical blinds were missing half their blinds. Once I cleaned everything up and got the bees, though, it proved to be a very nice place. Aside from the missing blinds, the interior was good. The couch was AWESOME, and the cabin furnished with everything we needed. The kitchen had all the normal cooking implements(coffee maker with coffee, pots and pans, utensils and tongs and such…). Speaking of which… Kitchen/food stuff: The cabin is advertised as being stocked with«breakfast items,» and there was indeed an assortment of breakfast items: eight eggs, a stick of butter and two half-pint cartons of milk in the fridge; six sausage links in a Ziploc bag in the freezer; five small boxes of Raisin Bran, three packets of oatmeal and three fruit cups on the table. We went into town to buy a few other things(milk, bacon, etc): if you like meat for breakfast you’ll want to bring some more with you, since there’s not much for two days’ stay, or for more than two people. But otherwise, there was certainly enough left for us… Privacy: on one side there were people working on a shed, and on the other were guys working on a new cabin. We wished it could be a little quieter, but it certainly wasn’t intrusive. They quit working at quittin’ time, and once they left if felt as though we were totally alone. The cabins are like 200′ apart: if you’re looking for a romantic weekend, this is as good as it gets! We would probably consider staying here again: there was plenty of privacy, the cabins were nice and the hot tubs were a great touch. But we wish the road was graded(so as to prevent the 6″-8″ of rocks in the center!) and that the place had been given a look-over before we arrived. Five minutes with a water hose would have done wonders on the porch and deck…

I’ve never been to a bed and breakfast before staying at Lillian Farms, but I have to say the bar is set high now! Such a gorgeous estate to take a stroll around. The stables and landscape were well cared for, although there were no horses around to admire during our stay. We did get to see a few donkeys, chickens, and plenty of dogs, one of which befriended and entertained us on walk. The pond had lots of fish and I’m curious as to what type they were because they looked huge from our view! I would’ve loved to get a closer look, but there was not a path available and I didn’t get a chance to ask Barbara what they were. The interior of the house was quaint and each room had it’s own theme, ours being the Rose Room. Breakfast the next day was delicious and service was spot on. I felt like a princess being served breakfast with gold lined plates and delicate teacups and exchanging stories with other customers; most notably a couple celebrating their 50th anniversary! This B&B and the surrounding town is definitely a peaceful hidden gem not too far from the bustling city of Houston and a great weekend getaway choice!
