Great lunch and coffee spot here. Passing through for work, parked at the square, saw the café sign and decided to go in. Loved the menu and options. We ordered the chicken salad sandwich and roast beef sandwich combos. Came with chips and bean salad. All very delicious and original. Would Def go back :)

Stopped for lunch and were very pleased. Waitress was very pleasant and helpful. I ordered the fried green tomato sandwich on jalapeño cornbread with pimento cheese and bacon… delicious. My husband loved his Philly cheesesteak sandwich.

Food okay, but the history of this square is fascinating! Don’t go without taking the time to walk around and read the signs on the buildings and in the square. Lots of history taken place in this square over the last 2 ½ centuries!

For small-town Georgia, Talk of the Town is as good as it gets. I’ve been coming here for years, at its first location across the Square and now as part of the Hotel. Washington has seen dozens of cafes, diners and lunch spots come and go over the years, but Robert and his partner have truly made themselves irreplaceable in town. The sandwiches are as good as one can be, soups are homemade and change daily, and they often have freshly-baked gourmet cupcakes as well. For all those passing through on 78 for a football game in Athens, do yourself a favor and go through Washington instead of taking the bypass. There’s a lovely art gallery with local artists across the Square and some great antique stores as well. Support local Washington!

This place is great! We were visiting a photography studio near the restaurant and stopped in for lunch. My mother had the chicken salad sandwich while I had the muffaletta. I love the sides that are offered as well, fruit cup, potato salad, 5 bean salad–(which is unbelievable!) For dessert, we chose the coconut and pink lemonade cupcakes! Really yummy.

A very nice small town restaurant right on the square. The names of all the food items are clever and funny. This place looks like it just filled up an old timey store place so there are huge rooms and ceilings. They have very nice desserts and there is a small room that serves just desserts. A nice place to stop by if you for some reason around the area.
