This place has a really nice tavern feel to it, and I just feel like they should go with that. Instead, they have a more fine dining style menu that is priced accordingly, but it doesn’t match the feel of the place or the service experience. Here are my notes on the experience: — Salad — loved the addition of beets, but I could barely keep the salad on the plate. Big pieces of lettuce and whole toppings and no room to cut anything up without making a mess. — Appetizer — loved the fried zucchini, but hated the little tiny plastic cup of horseradish sauce. Nothing says«I packed this two days ago» like a plastic to-go cup served with a lid still on it. The salad dressing suffered the same packaging. I get it… it’s fast and easy. But it’s unattractive and our whole table with littered with the trash from those things. And we really didn’t have enough horseradish for the size of the zucchini order. — Bread — The soft bread was delicious. The cold, rock hard, butter was not. And again, more of those prepackaged things that we then had to corral into a trash pile. — Entrée — my entrée had great potential, but was served absolutely SWIMMING in a pool of broken mascarpone sauce. I could have scooped off at least 1⁄3 cup of butter and grease from my plate. It pretty much ruined the entire dish. I honestly can’t even believe that it made it out of the kitchen looking like that. — Service — there was nothing bad, but also nothing spectacular about our main server; however, I was highly amused at the ancillary servers who came around to fill water and clear plates. They were clearly summer help fresh out of school and appeared to be pretty clueless about what they were doing here. Serving my entrée with all that grease was a definite miss in the service department. She saw me extracting bits of the dish to a side plate in an effort to mitigate the oil slick, but didn’t comment. — Table — Too small/cluttered for 4 people. The table didn’t look that small, but we really struggled to make room for drinks and side plates on the table. We only ordered one appetizer and there would not have been room for two. And the pile of trash we had from dressings, etc. just added to the tight feel. Overall, I think the place has potential. But they are doing it all wrong.

Brought in a bunch of clients while in the area. Décor and setting were nice as it is located below street level and had exposed masonry and interesting historical prints of the area arranged around the walls. There was also a small bar area off the entrance. I went with the grilled tuna salad served with blue cheese, pear and walnuts over mixed greens. The tuna was obviously pre-frozen and did not have a great flavor. The salad was also arranged with everything unmixed which meant you had to combine it forkful by forkful. I would give two stars but the service was good and my guests enjoyed their meal.

Ambience: from the outside you would never think that they are open, much less go in! Divy outside for sure! But once inside, there is this rich feel of stone and wood. You have your choice of eating in the bar or at a table or booth. Very nice. Food: the Italian wedding soup was very good and the Rachel Reuben is made with coleslaw so it comes off as sweeter. Service: seated promptly even at lunchtime which is a real plus if you are working in the courthouse across the street. And the waitress checked back a couple of times. But she brings the bill without a folder so I got looking for the cashier and am told oh, no you pay your server. The signal is to bring the check in a folder! Otherwise, five stars. Overall, I definitely will come back and you won’t be disappointed.

The food and atmosphere were great, but our service was horrible!!! Our server was Janice. We asked to sample the wine to make sure we liked it before purchasing an entire bottle, and then asked for an alternate sauce cold my linguini. She disappeared for five minutes then returned to the table with the same sauce I had already ordered, replying«he(I’m assuming the cook) didn’t know what you wanted, so here you go. Our requests were met with scoffs and her marching away from our table without a response. We also did not get a soup or salad with our meals — a choice of one or the other was supposed to be included with our entrée. I’d love to say we’d be returning, but it is unlikely did to such poor service.

A local restaurant in Washington that has been there for literally years! They always seem to have a busy dinner crowd but the waiters/waitresses do an amazing job to keep everything running smoothly. Great atmosphere. Mostly sophisticated well mannered crowd. I got the Lobster Ravioli which 22.99 for a large and 14.99 for a small. I got the small and it was a huge serving! Really good prices for the size of the dishes. The Ravioli is striped pasta filled with Maine lobster and ricotta cheese finished in a chive butter sauce garnished with lobster meat. Most delicious dish ever!

The food was good, but the service was terrible. We waited over an hour for a table. They were busy, so we could kind of understand that. However an hour and a half wait for our food was completely unacceptable. Not in any hurry to return.

There was nothing bad about this restaurant. The veal dishes were phenomenal as was the service and the attentiveness of the manager letting us know the kitchen was running behind. The prices are a bit higher than most places but the portions are fabulous so well worth the expense. I highly recommend this establishment.

Visiting from out of town. Cute restaurant bar located downstairs. Excellent service. I ordered the barbecue chicken pizza. It was the best pizza I have ever eaten. My friend ordered the chef salad which he rated as excellent. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

One of my favorite little places in Washington, ever. Amazing food. Nice little ‘getaway’ atmosphere. Easy to find parking even when it’s busy. Never have I waited more than 5 minutes to get a table. Absolutely go!

Had the Fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp. Not much flavor or shrimp for the high price. Warning…2015 and they do not accept Amex? Not friendly to the business traveler. The place is starting to show its age with 70’s décor. Service was good.

Found this place on the way home to Columbus. Was a little Leary with going down the stairs and no windows but was very pleasantly surprised when we walked in! The ambiance was great and the people were too! Had the white pizza and the chicken pizza. White was excellent!

Came into town for a funeral and needed to find a place for the whole family to eat and socialize. We came to the Union and could not have been happier with the choice. Great food, great atmosphere. excellent service staff, this was a tremendous find and a fantastic dining experience for all. Oh and the Italian wedding soup is amazing.

Portions here are large. Can be split between 2 adults. Says it’s good for kids but no child’s menu and the kids items are ala carte so meal adds up quickly.

Good food, the place is freezing though. Nice wait staff. Easy parking. A Lillie pricy but good portions. Better for dinner than lunch,

This was a great little Italian place. The portions are gigantic so watch out! The ingredients could use a bit more variety or ingenuity but for a small town, I felt that the quality of the dishes were better than what I expected. We loved the old paintings decorating the walls. The service is very friendly but a little on the slow side.

Lovely & very comfortable. Had a long business day in Washington & my niece recommended this place. We arrived @ 5pm on a Friday night & the place was busy but we were seated right away. The hostess was pleasant and attentive. All of our food was well prepared & pleasant to the eye. The Fried Zucchini appetizer was great. The Wedding Soup and Lobster Bisque were great. The side salad was great. I only had one problem. The Delmonico steak I ordered was cooked perfectly & it was a nice size but there wasn’t any seasoning on it… The Blackened Tuna was good… The Fried Shrimp we asked them to prepare it Scampi style & it was perfectly done. I would definitely return, but I would order something different as my main course.

Great local restaurant. Any time I can eat here it is a treat. The food is excellent. And the restaurant décor is definitely a need to see. Its not without its bad parts though. In the winter, if you sit ANYWHERE near the front door expect to freeze anytime anyone opens the door. Its ALWAYS packed. Expect a wait, but its worth it. Parking is a bit of a pain. No parking lot, only on street parking right near it, so bring quarters. But all in all, if your from around the Washington PA area and have not been here, you have to try it.
