I’ve been here 3 times and all three times I came at a not so busy time. Last night we arrived around 7pm and there were 2 other tables being used. The hostess pointed us to our table, she didn’t take the time to walk us. Which is not usual but ok. They brought us water immediately, took our appetizer and drink order, then again immediately brought us our soup and salad. I like the salad here, has a good tang to it! We ordered the Mango Roll and the Viper roll. They came pretty quickly, and were super yummy! The wait staff was diligent about filling our water and checking to see how we were doing. When we paid, there was no hurry to push us out. We definitely took our time because we were chatting. Overall I was very happy with my experience and all the times I’ve eaten here have been similar. I think this sushi place has the best customer service out of all the sushi places in the valley. They lose a star because the wasabi was not hot at all… I like a good wasabi. And the silverware looked spotty. It’s also a little more expensive here, but I was happy so I’d pay to eat here again.

Not a good experience! We waited 30 minutes — after our soup and salad were served — for the two rolls to arrive. I got the Wasilla roll, and was very much looking forward to tasting the fresh salmon(I AM in Alaska, expecting some good fish), but when I got my roll, it was just small, sloppy looking pieces stuffed into the roll. It did not look good, and barely tasted like anything. I was so disappointed — the amount of fish, in the small roll(8 very small .50 cent pieces), at such a steep price($ 14) was NOT worth it. I will not be recommending this place to anyone.

Absolutely love this place. When I lived in Palmer, I ate here regularly. Their smoky roll, 911 roll, and there’s one with mango on it. All delicious. Their miso is a little salty but I also LOVED the little salads. The chef would often give me a little extra in my to go orders. :) Good atmosphere. Carpets are a little scary though. Oh, and their drinking glasses are really pretty. Lol :)

I have tried this place 3 times now and won’t ever go back. Very Americanized sushi. Lots of goopy sauce that is just not necessary. Raw fish was warm, service is not very good, and the prices are just too high. Try Zushi instead(Khans sushi) He is amazing!

When we want sushi in the Valley, Sakura’s is the place to go. They also have Korean dishes we love and the owner and wife make us feel like we’re at home. Very friendly and attentive wait staff and the food is worth the price.

Best sushi that I have had in a long time highly recommend only reason they are getting 4 stars and not 5 is that they are pricey but worth it if you are going here every once in awhile will defiantly be back

First time eating out with my girlfriend here for her birthday. ITWASAMAZING!!! The employee’s were great and very helpful to what I should order(Which was a viper sushi roll) It came with 8 huge things of sushi and my girlfriend got the #3 California Roll(ALSOAMAZING) I was very satisfied and their time to make the sushi was within 10 minutes it took 30 minutes and we were already full. Definitely worth the money!

A group of us have been coming here every other week for a couple years or so now. The staff are great and are right on top of everything. We compare any other sushi place to Sakura and have not had any place better than here. They are great about making the sushi roll the way you want it. Will even surprise you with a roll if you are not sure about what you want. I love love love the stuffed tomato app here. I’ve tried the same app at other places and it never compares to here. From the salad and miso soup, the rolls and other items available for your entrée and the deep fried Oreo cookies, you can’t go wrong with Sakura. The food is delicious, the staff is wonderful! The only complaint I would have to give is the flooring needs to be replaced. The carpet is very worn and dirty also the holiday décor needs to be stored away when it’s not the holidays. Other than that we LOVE this place!!!

Waitresses were attentive, courteous and pretty. Our wait time for our food was timely, presentation was pleasing and the food was delicious. I ordered a plate of chicken yakisoba noodles and a Joy’s choice roll(which was awesome and I will go back for another). Mom ordered a teriyaki salmon bento box and is absolutely in love with the salmon there. At the end of the meal we were presented with cute little complimentary frozen cream puffs topped with whipped cream and chocolate syrup.

Bad service does not even begin to cover it. Extremely disappointed in the quality of service and it completely ruined mine and my husband’s date night. People who came in after us has their orders taken and serves before we were even asked about ordering. Can’t say ill ever be back here the food wasn’t great either. :(

This is a really good sushi place. Big selection of all kinds of rolls. Their other food is good too. I usually get the beef bulgolgi. I try to eat here at least once a month. The inside isn’t real big, but it holds plenty of people. Mostly booths with a few tables. Also a few stools at the bar where you can watch the chef make the rolls. Staff is really nice. Only bad thing about this place is the parking. It’s usually pretty full because there are only a few parking spots. You won’t be disappointed with this place.

SOGOOD! Served salad and miso soup before we even ordered. I liked the lower sodium miso, but the salad dressing was a little bitter and tasted like it had cooked salmon bits in it. Decided on the Family Combination Special and chose the Rainbow Roll #2 as the roll of our choice. The sushi was awesome: sweet, tender, flavorful, neatly presented. The wasabi could have been hotter and the pickled ginger could have been more plentiful. The tempura prawns and gyoza were the best I’ve ever had. Teriyaki chicken and yakitori were OK. I was disappointed they were out of Ika so I coudn’t get my favorite and wish there was more variety in the sushi and sashimi. HOT tea with free refills and complimentary cream puffs drizzled with chocolate and whipped cream topped off this lovely experience in a trendy, clean atmosphere. Spendy, but on par with local prices for comparable quality.

My wife and I go here at least once a month for their chicken teriyaki which is pretty flavorful on top of their cabbage. Service is usually pretty fast. They also have a huge variety of sushi to choose from, more than you will probably ever get to eat. My main complaint are their prices. Seriously? It cost $ 15.25 for a small Chicken Teriyaki, for dinner. Its the same portion as their lunch, they just increase the price. I think dinner portions should be bigger.

If i could give no stars, i would. It took an hour to get our rolls after ordering, and the salmon i was told was cooked in one was raw. The shrimp in my crunch roll was not crunchy and the roll was buried in tempura powder. Overall, nothing tasted good, I have had better sushi from Fred Meyer deli. I couldn’t even drink my water because my glass tasted like soap.

Not sure what to tell you. I walk in, and wow, even in Alaska the Koreans own the sushi restaurants. It seems the Koreans own almost all the businesses there in Alaska, or at least Anchorage. So, let’s face it, you’re not going to find authentic sushi here, but that’s not what most people are expecting. What you will find are high prices, half-decent rolls, and a variety of dishes – including Korean ones. To get the best fish I think you gotta be there in the summer from what I hear. I had teriyaki salmon as well and they overcooked it.

I went to Wasilla for Sushi! And it was… good! The service here was great, super friendly and accommodating. We had miso soup delivered to our table straight away. Ordered up our Sake and received service with a smile! California Rolls for our girls, tempura, hand rolls and sashimi, everything delivered in a timely manner and our sushi chef was right in view. Everything was fresh and tasty. I enjoyed my sushi experience in Alaska! Then we were served these fabulous Cream Puffs filled with ice cream! WOW! The décor WAS quite cute. as someone else mentioned. We sat by the fish tank and the little girls loved it. You know me and my L.A. favorites, The Frying Fish, etc… this was not Los Angeles, but for what I know, where I was and what we got, it was totally A-OK! Thank you Sakura!!!

After recently moving here from Australia I was ecstatic to see this restaurant close to opening its doors. So after a week of its opening my husband and I went for lunch. We ordered the chicken terriaki and beef terriaki bento box, my husband also ordered a sushi roll the greedy boy! The food was amazing, fresh, tasty, generous servings at a really low price for what we got. We went back for dinner a few weeks later and ordered almost the same as before but to our disappointment we had to wait over an hour before we could eat it! ! We were so close to leaving, but our taste buds kept us there waiting ! They did apologise and even gave us complimentary sushi whilst we waited and it was packed out in the restaurant that night…. the food is amazing that’s why they were so busy obviously, but maybe they should take the hint of the packed out restaurant and get an extra chef and wait staff! I so wanted to give this Japanese restaurant 5 stars but after our last visit of waiting for food for so long(food torture!) I have to knock a star off. Let’s hope it was a one off!

I came here about 2 – 3 weeks after they opened, but kept forgetting to review them. I’ll keep this short because I was unable to order anything significant from their menu. Why, you ask? Most likely because the waitress told me that it would take at least 40 minutes for any sushi rolls. Imagine if I had ordered multiple rolls! Would it be 40 minutes per sushi roll?! All we had was the dynamite special, which was a baked appetizer and a small(yet expensive) one, to boot. It wasn’t even spicy, and tasted lukewarm. It took about half an hour after we ordered it to come out of the kitchen. Oh yea, and the restaurant was half-full, but they ran out of chopsticks and green tea. Places like these make me glad that I’m back home, where there’s a plethora of sushi restaurants. Talk about unorganized and understaffed. They left me with a very bad experience. However, I will admit that the restaurant is quite spacious and the décor is very traditional. I’m feeling generous, so I’ll give them two stars for the great décor.

Stopped in for lunch earlier in the week with a girlfriend. We were surprised at how busy it was(7 – 8 tables full on a Monday at noon). Interior is clean and modern. Definite step up décor-wise from the former tenants(Indian restaurant). There are several tables of varying sizes to accommodate pretty much any size group. There’s also a sushi bar where you can sit and watch the masters at work. The menu is impressive — everything from lunch bentos, every kind of sushi you can imagine, appetizers, several categories of lunch entrees and several of dinner entrees as well. I’d say there is something for everyone here. I ordered a chicken teriyaki lunch bento. It came with miso soup, salad, teriyaki chicken, 2 shrimp tempura, 3 tempura veggies, a piece of fried tofu and rice for only $ 11.95. It was a lot of food and very tasty. I’m not always a fan of teriyaki sauce, but this was good and the chicken was tender and not fatty at all. Everything we had was good. Service was a little slow at the end but only because they were pretty busy and had only 1 waitress, which on a Monday I can’t blame them. Great new tasty spot in Wasilla! Anxious to go back with hubby for dinner.
