Stopped here on our way home from Bossier. I ordered the Cajun baked fish, my partner ordered the chicken fried steak. All dishes come with the salad bar which offers PERFECT pinto beans, great coleslaw & potato salad, and a pretty darn good salad. You are served large a basket of hush puppies to munch on while you wait, I must say, they are just about the best I’ve had! The portions are more than enough. I was served 2 very large, perfectly baked, flaky fish filets covered in gumbo, a baked potato, mixed veggies, and buttered toast. Though I had no room left to even start on my potato, everything I had was just wonderful. My partners chicken fried steak was perfectly hand made, no frozen premade CFS here. absolutely delicious. Not sure how this place could get any less than 5 stars. Food was amazing, view from our table was beautifully relaxing, and the service was prompt & polite. We will definitely eat here again the next time we pass through.

My partner already covered all the bases here but I have to back it up. My chicken fried steak just might be the best I’ve ever had, and as the son of a truck driver I am picky about my chicken fried. A basket full of the best hushpuppies I have ever had made our free appetizer. The salad bar, which comes with each meal is perfect. Don’t pass on the green tomato relish, even if you hate tomatos. It’s awesome. Pinto beans are PERFECT. Lori’s baked fish was really good(and I don’t like fish). Covered in gumbo with crawfish! The scenery made my jaw drop, You just don’t see that kinda view while eating right off the freeway. Get the sweet tea, it is perfect. The waitress was nice, attentive and fun. I’ll make a special trip to eat here again.

Ok, I love catfish. This place served overly breaded and hard fried scrawny pieces of catfish. Not hot enough. I ordered it Cajun style… had to put a ton of hot sauce on it to make it taste like… something, anything. The salad bar was the most clean and orderly I’ve seen since, I dunno… ever. Tartar sauce is very tangy and good. Hush puppies not served until the meal was finished. They tasted great but… would have been nice if they’d been on the plate with the fish. French fries from here are a waste of calories. Just meh… didn’t eat more than 2. Nice staff. Attentive without being intrusive.

Awful… we stopped here on our way back to Austin, TX; waited 25 mins for cold DRY hard fried Catfish. Blackberry Cobbler was a sloppy mess, the dough in the pie was raw! The location in Monroe, LA is much better. Waskum location sucks !

Ok food, TERRIBLE service! Biggest waste of $ 50 and an hour and a half. Our waitress blamed everything on the kitchen(completely unprofessional), when obviously other sections had no issues whatsoever. I was severely disappointed that I wasted my money here.

We met up with my uncle while in the area and be suggested this place for lunch. I had the catfish filets with the cajun seasoning and it was very good. The salad bar was included as were the pinto beans on the salad bar. The hush puppies were some of the best I’ve ever had. The server wasn’t the friendliest but the food made up for it. We will definitely be back when we go back to the area.

Don’t waste your time here unless there are no other options. The service is ok but the food just isn’t very good. There is much better catfish not far away on Caddo Lake or Longview.

Last week sometime– lunch– This place is clean. The service, all smiles. The food– really good. Freshly cooked, tasteful, well presented. Most of the other Villages I’ve visited are buffets = soggy fish(barf bags). This one was made to order, at least for lunch it is. If you live within say, 30 miles, this might be the place to get your kattfish on.

You see, I just like Catfish and I’ve not found anything in Dallas as good. Makes a visit to see family just that much better. I just can’t understand why all the good catfish places never serve beer…

Catfish fillets were bland not a sprinkle of salt or seasoning and our waitress and cashier were horrible. But the waitress serving other tables were pretty decent. Never will stop again.

I am was very hungry for fresh(never frozen fish). I liked their cat fish very much, I would have had less breeding and less crispy were it is difficult to get off the bones. Little catfish(the best kind) are much more difficult to achieve perfection. For difficulty a 4.5. The hushpuppies were the best I have had in years. Good flavor, crispy and not loaded with grease. The wait staff a 5 also, could not ask for better. I was not disappointed, I left full and happy. I will be back.

I live close the Catfish Village and go there often. Until recently the food has always been outstanding. But now the food has got bad. The catfish has a rubbery taste to it now. The service has also suffered. You may get a drink refill and you may not. During crawfish season, the crawfish were horrible. They had a bad taste. I would not recommend eating there. DQ here I come.

Nice country themed restaurant. Quick seating, waiter is friendly. Awesome Hush puppies, and by the way they are Free. Salad bar when u order ur meal. Food a little pricey l, but only good place to eat. Unless u drive 10 miles down the road for Denny’s. I had the Blacken grill fish with steamed veggies. It was good, but small portion. Personally I would come again for the hush puppies. Yeah that good… Hush Puppies…

Oh, it’s kind of a gas station. Wait, no, there’s a whole restaurant back here, guys, it’s big. Salad bar looks ok, I’ll probably just get a po boy or fish tacos or something. Oh there are beans and stuff over here, maybe the salad bar won’t be bad. Eh, seems kind of expensive for what you’re getting. Wait did the waitress just give us two baskets of hush puppies? Why? They’re free?! No shit! Ok. I’ll order the fish tacos for sure. Hot sauce on hush puppies? Good call, Rodney. These are making my stomach hurt, get them away from me before I eat more. Shut up about foursomes, the waitress is back. Wait, what?! We get the salad bar for FREE? It’s even got sneeze guards on it, I’ll put some 1000 Island on mine. Not too much, though, shit’s kind of heavy. These tacos are aiight. Feel like they came out too wet for the corn tortilla to handle, sort of fell apart the whole time. Good portions, though. I’m full as hell. Let’s get out of here. Cody cleaned the van and found Aaron’s passport?!? Kid is a sweet heart! Let me throw out all the garbage, there’s some dumpsters in the back. Ah shit the guy back from the kitchen back there told me not to put them in the dumpster, that dumpster’s not for us. Let’s leave them here in the parking lot so it can be THEIR trash to be placed in the dumpster correctly! Way to think on your feet, guy who works here.

We were hungry after our boat tour on Caddo Lake and found nothing else open on our way toward LA. We had to stop here even though it was late afternoon. Food was more than ample. The portions are huge as is the restaurant. My fried catfish was OK though I would have liked more fish and less breading. He liked his fried shrimp. Our visit started with complimentary hush puppies which we liked. Salad bar was included with beans, potato salad, and slaw along with plenty of fixings for the meal. One mistake we made was ordering the armadillo eggs appetizer. Not good at all.

They have a salad bar that comes with your meal. The beans and coleslaw have amazing flavor. I would try this palce out if you are passing through.

David Beards is my all time favorite catfish. This location is a large natural wood restaurant with Texas décor, a porch and terracing goldfish ponds that stream into a large pond on site. The local fav is the all you can eat fried catfish filets. It comes with fries and salad bar. Beans are on the salad bar. The all you can eat catfish is about $ 10.50 but you can get a the smaller lunch plate with 5 pieces of fish even at supper time if you ask.

David Beard’s Catfish Village is a decent stop off the highway in Waskom, but the catfish is marginal at best. They definitely spent more money on the atmosphere than the food. I have tried both the fried and the baked catfish, and both are just about average. Believe it or not, the best tasting dish there are the chicken tenders, which is sad considering the name is the catfish village. The good side of Catfish Village however is that you could easily feed 100’s of your friends at once!
