Really good home cooking. We had the fried shrimp with fries and hush puppies. The table next to us had the chicken fried steak and it looked awesome. These guys seem to really care about delivering a quality meal. Give them a try. I’ll definitely be back.

Very good«Home Cookin’». The staff was very helpful and friendly and the food was served quickly. The flavors were as good for it’s type as we’ve had in the area! I had Smoked Meatloaf, which is topped with BBQ Sauce similar in flavor to a Sweet Baby Rays or Chubbs. I selected Dirty Rice and Green Beans and was very pleased with both. My wife had Chicken Fried Steak which was tender yet crunchy on the outside and the Gravy was very, very good. The Gravy would be great over Biscuits. The value was also very good and they offer family meals of 4 Entrees, and 4 Large sides for around $ 30, depending on the Entrée. They are tucked in a corner with no visibility from southbound traffic, but hopefully the word will get out that this is really good food.

Went here for lunch on Monday probably the best burger I’ve eaten in years! The chicken fried steak was delicious too! The lady was very friendly and brought coloring pages for my daughters to color while waiting for the food.

Went with a group, we had the catfish and the chicken fried steak. Everyone scarfed all their food down and thoroughly enjoyed it. Well worth the long drive :)

i was in the mood for some«home cooking» so this place came up on Unilocal search close to my house. I had the chicken fried steak. with mashed potatoes and green beans. you order at the counter… they bring the food to you. It tasted very good and i had no complains. Staff was very friendly and made me feel very welcome and was checking from time to time to make sure i was ok. Will be back.

Couldn’t resist checking out what all the 5-star reviews were about and have to say the food quality does live up to the reviews and the service was just as good. We tried the Fried Catfish and the Meatloaf and both were excellent. So why only a 4-star review, unfortunately as good as the food was you can find equivalent quality elsewhere for cheaper. I mean 10.99 for a slice of meatloaf, small bowl of mac-n-cheese and serving of green beans? We may visit again to try a burger or something but won’t go out of our way.

Such great customer service. So so very friendly. Food was so dang good, chicken fried steak is surely marinaded, batter is crispy and highly flavorful, was a party in my mouth wow, Mac and cheese warm and creamy. We’ve all had okra but not like this there is a special seasoning ingredient see if u can guess what it is, ask Kareem the friendly owner.. Mash potatoes real taters… Banana pudding you would think would be just like all others. Well let me warn you it is not. This is a mixed cold concoction of ripe banana whipped cream and we’ll let’s see if u can guess it’s secret weapon… Let the guessing begin… Lol PS. Don’t upset the cook in back haha

Basic southern comfort food done very very well. Smaller place located in a shopping center, easy to miss if you’re not careful. We walked in and were greeted by the staff behind the counter on the other side of the place. Friendly bunch. Having never been here before, they gave us a quick run down. We order at the counter, get our beverages, and have a seat. They will bring our food out to us. The atmosphere fits the title of the place well. Texas theme meets simple restaurant. It worked well. I liked the music they had playing also. I’m glad they didn’t bring the food out in five minutes or so, took them a moment to prepare it. That is encouraging to me as I wanted a fresh cooked meal, not warmed up Sysco frozen food. I wasn’t disappointed. I ordered the blackened fish. It was served with toast, rice, and green beans. The fish was cooked very nicely, the spices were strong, almost too strong on the salt, but I like salt. The fish tender and blackened just right. The toast was fresh buttery toast, medium thickness, really good. The rice was what I would call normal rice, flaky, done well. The green beans, though, that about stole the whole meal for me. The green beans were really, really good. I’m not sure how to describe buttery bacon-ey delicious goodness. I could have had a whole bowl of just the green beans, honestly. The staff kept coming around with a smile, offering to refill beverages, take plates, and to chat. Friendly bunch. She tried to take my plate. I know it was basically empty except some creamy looking juice left over in my green beans. I nearly slapped her hand and said«I’m NOT through drinking the rest of the green bean juice!!» I really did say that and she laughed. So I slurped it up right quick, then let her have the plate. As people left, the staff would say across the place«thanks for coming!» Welcoming atmosphere. The price is really well placed. I also liked the portions. It was an approx $ 10 meal with just right portions. Not too much, not too little. Just right. I give a five star when I cannot make any recommendations for improvement. I have nothing I could offer them to change or do better at this point. Recommended.

A little different than my typical sushi, Thai, seafood preferences. I normally prefer I nice break from the daily grind over lunch, with full services and shiny things. They told me at the counter a casual Texas style kitchen and I was too embarrassed to walk out of the small diner like area. Thanks goodness or I would have missed out on on some small town Americana. I asked for their specialty and the friendly counter person suggested the Chicken Fried Chicken and I gave it a shot with the standard mashed potatoes, gravy and green beans. In my small town growing up, gravy was a profession, I was pleased the cooks here knew a little something there. The gravy was thick and flavorful and was a great cover for the thick and juicy piece of chicken, which tasted fresh. The flavor was consistent and well prepared. The crust on the chicken was think without being all crust or too hard. I even enjoyed the taste of the green beans. They had some music playing but appreciated that it wasn’t too loud. Things were slow but the employees came out and about several times. Will definitely return, after I save up some calories to use.

Such fantastic comfort food! It truly is a diamond in the rough. The food if definitely homemade and delicious. They put an extra little spin on the menu items, such a smoking the meat loaf or using chipotle peppers in the chili. My husband had the meatloaf with Mac n cheese and greens, he’s in love. My daughter also enjoyed her Mac n cheese and slow cooked green beans. I loooovveeed my hot bowl of chili. It’s got a bit of a kick to it and big tender chunks of steak. The staff/owners extremely friendly. They are out to make good food, and I believe they have succeeded.

Why don’t they have 10 star as an option? Chicken fried steak was amaaaaaazing. Couldn’t get enough of the okra. Somethin about that batta batta batta…(batter). Let me preface: I rate 60% for service. First time there was actually a pick up order. Before I got halfway in the gentleman at the register greeting me with a hello and a smile. Was friendly and built great rapport(not forced one bit, you could tell he was real-for real!) Right before I went in I had a bad experience at Family Video(she didn’t say hello for like a minute and a half – she was counting money. She finished pennies and continued with other coins… ugh) anyway he listened to be complain about that and I told him I really appreciated him asking how I was doing, saying hello, and radiating kindness. This place is delicious and worth every penny.

I really don’t know how this place got such great reviews. Since we had never been there before, the cashier guy told us they’re a «fast casual establishment». My wife ordered the chicken fried steak since that’s what he recommended. I ordered the steak street tacos with Mac and cheese instead of beans. We waited 20 minutes for our food. I’m complaining about this because the two people who were after us got their food first. This was obviously the kind of establishment that has its regular customers. Everyone eating there knew each other and lots of hugs were given while we waited. My food was all cold. Mac and cheese, tacos, and rice. All of it, cold. The steak in my taco was incredibly tough. I chewed on one piece for over three minutes and could’ve kept chewing, but my jaw got tired. My wife’s chicken fried steak was hot, thankfully. That and the gravy were really the highlights. Her mashed potatoes and green beans were also cold. Both were also nasty.

Incredibly good food. Thanks to Unilocal for helping us find this TREASURE! We had Fried Catfish and Chicken Fried Steak. The Fried Catfish was the best I have EVERTASTED. Light, not greasy, served hot and beyond delicious. The Chicken Fried Steak was also terrific. Huge portion, tender steak, not greasy. Served with gravy that has great flavor. Sides were all good. Great mashed potatoes, but the Fried Okra is a stand-out. INCREDIBLE! Casual atmosphere. Bring the family. Great for take-out too. Spoke with one of the owners. So friendly and nice!!! Highly recommend.

Came back here recently to give them another shot. I had to try that Chorizo Burger again and see if it was just an off day in the kitchen last time. Well… the egg wasn’t overcooked this time, which was great. However, the chorizo was still dry and just really dense. I didn’t like it and now that I’ve had it twice with the same result, I think that’s just how it is. No worries, I’ll still be back to try other things because the mac & cheese and fries I tasted this time were very good, and I see potential here. Also, the staff are really fabulous! They go above and beyond to really make you feel welcome and comfortable.

I came here because I read that my Unilocal friends were raving about how good this was, so I came to check it out. When you walk in, you are immediately greeted but not by a hostess. They call it across the dinning area from the register. It was okay when you are the first one in the door, which was fine for me, but ofter sitting down it points out to all those in the dinning room, that someone new has come in and attention is shifted to those who just entered. One of the Partners of the Resturant was happy to go over the menu and said if I did not like my food choice that he would make something else for me. That was nice enough. I chose the blackened chicken and substituted the dirty rice for the garlic mashed potatoes and gravy. No up charge for substitutions so again, nice. My mashed potatoes were cold when I received them but they were happy to warm them up for me. And they came back hot, I like hot. So why only 3 stars, because I did not get the wow effect and they do not have table service. You order at the window, pay, get your beverage, napkins and table wear before you sit down. Food was good, but nothing that was Wow.

We saw all the great Unilocal reviews and decided to give it a try. It’s a counter service place. There’s a menu on the wall and you walk in, order and seat yourself. The service is awesome. Everyone was super nice. We were greeted when we walked in and were checked on throughout the meal. The food was good. I had the country fried steak and while it wasn’t the best I’ve ever had, it was good. The steak was a little chewy and stringy in parts but was fried well and the breading was good. The beans were good, much better then your average side of beans. I had a bite of my husband’s chorizo burger and it was good but not amazing. My mother in-law lives nearby and said she’d go back there. I’d recommend it. After reading the reviews, I wish I had tried the banana pudding so maybe next time.

We enjoyed our lunch here today. They are very friendly and eager to serve. This goes a looooong way! Two of us got the chicken tenders, one got the chicken fried chicken and three got the salad. The chicken was well seasoned and perfectly cooked! The potatoes had great flavor and were deliciously homemade(not instant like Babe’s). The salads looked weak, but I expected that from a comfort food restaurant; you don’t come here to eat healthy! I will bring my husband next time so he can try the CFS. The only thing I would change is southern biscuits instead of Texas toast. Great job! It’s a win!

I really am conservative about handing out 5 stars, but this place deserves to be noticed! Now, we’ve eaten at restaurants that were at this same location and failed. I don’t see the same destiny for the Campfire Grill. There’s something different about it now. So let’s start at the entrance, the decorations are ok and it does seem a bit sparse, but it’s immaculate! Also, it’s only been here 2 months, so that will come. You are immediately greeted and made to feel right at home. Truly, they’re one of the most welcoming eateries I’ve ever been in. We scuttle up to counter and place our order after being told by owner«what is what». I love this guy. Anyway, he recommends a few dishes and we opt for the fried catfish and chicken fried steak. Fantastic, fantastic, fantastic! You hear me? The catfish is hands down the best fried catfish I’ve had anywhere around here. It’s perfectly seasoned, crisp, and the fish buttery soft. You get 3 fillets w/fries and hushpuppies for $ 10.00. Money well spent. Wifey got the chicken fried steak and you could tell this was a choice cut of beef with homemade cream gravy, mashed, and green beans. All were very good. On top of great food and service, they’re also very humble and they give back to the community. They have a wall with donation boxes located on it. It’s called«The Giving Wall» and you choose which charity you want and just put your receipt into the box and they, in turn, donate 10% of that ticket to that charity. I love this idea. So what are you waiting for? Try it, you’ll love it just like we did. And the only reason this place closes down is that they will outgrow this location! Outstanding job all-around!

Service was outstanding. Went to try them today and their a/c was out but with the fans it was not uncomfortably hot. They provided us with free drinks because they has no A/C. I tried there lemonade and in my opinion it was better than. Chick-fil-A. Green beans were a little mushy for me, but my friend loves them. Mac N Cheese very tasty, I like my mac N Cheese noodles a little softer and more cheesier but I would order this Mac & cheese again. Hickory smoked chicken wings were out standing they were moist and had a spicy bite to them. If you’re in the mood for chicken wings skip buffalo wings and wing stop and come here and try these hickory smoked chicken wings. They are to die for!!! Chicken fried steak was cooked perfectly I love the crispy coating and the Home made gravy. The garlic mashed potatoes were also very good. If you live in this area this is definitely a must stop for lunch or dinner. Also prices are very reasonable. This place sells coke products they also offer Mexican cokes.
