Shipley DO Nuts

The donuts were delicious and so were the kolaches. Great customer service! The lady behind the counter talked to my son as he picked his sprinkles donut and even gave me some potty training tips (we got to talking about our sons which are the same age and the trouble I’m having with this particular area). When we were leaving, the nice lady even gave my son a bag with a couple of donut holes in it and told him to promise to use the potty today. He was so excited!

The only other Shippley’s I’ve been to is the one in College Station. Those are probably the best donuts I’ve ever had. I had the same expectations for donuts at this location, but this one just seemed different. Not sure why, but the donuts here didn’t have the same chewy texture as the one in College Station.

I love Shipleys donuts. There was one in Nacogdoches where I went to college and I fell in love with them there and still think they are the VERY best tasting donut I’ve ever eaten …35 years later! Nothing compares to a fresh Shipley donut!

Health Code Violation!
So, I like Shipley’s Donuts. I would probably buy here more often, if it were closer. Well, I would except for what I just witnessed.
While sitting at the drive-​thru window waiting for my order to be delivered, I witnessed another customer walk in through the front door. He was apparently not pleased with what was in the bag that he had already walked out of the store and back in with. So the clerk took the food (donuts) out of the bag and put it back in the display shelf to be sold to another customer. Wait, what?!? Really?!?
Now the customer probably did not touch the food, but that is beside the point. The fact that the food had been served to the customer and then put back on the shelf to be sold to someone else is a blatant violation of health code. And for good reason! But this food had not simply been handed to the customer and right back. No, he had walked out of the store and back in with it from his car!
My question is this: if these guys don’t know basic health codes like the one I just saw violated, what other health code violations are going on? Disappointed and cannot say I will go back.
Pros: Tasty donuts.
Cons: That tasty donut may have been someone else’s before you got it! Ugh!

Best DO nuts I have ever had!!! I used to love Krispy Kreme so one day I had the kids with me and I decided to get a «mix dozen» from Shipleys and then drive down the street to Krispy Kreme and get a half dozen of their «hot» glazed donut. First off, the price at Krispy Kreme was ridiculous! I paid less at Shipleys for a dozen than I did at KK for a half dozen, really? Then when we opened up the KK box the donuts were cold, not as advertised by their «hot» sign. Then I took a bite and literally made up my mind that I will never eat a KK donut again. My six year old agreed. He recently received a coupon from his school for a free KK donut and he told me I could throw it away, no joke.

Friendly service, good product. What can I say? Shipley Do Nuts is a good pick me up of sugar deliciousness in the morning on Highway 377 in Watuaga.
The family affectionately calls Highway 377 the «Shipley Highway» based on making the left turn off of Mid Cities Blvd to 377 and seeing Shipley as one of the first businesses that beg for you to make an impulse buy. Though the hours are limited (5:30−12:30 PM daily), Shipley has good choices on its menu that rivals its competitor down the street with the hot doughnut sign. Although the doughnuts are somewhat on the small side, the prices are quite reasonable. 6 assorted doughnuts for $ 3 and change? Can I get a yummy yum yum for my tummy tum tum?
If you are lucky, you can walk across the street to the Beer Barn during business hours. What’s not to love: beer and doughnuts. Just be sure to schedule a good amount of time in the gym later in the due (carb overload).
Shipley, you are so, sooooo good!

Well, how about you get down and use your feet? Is it really THAT difficult to go into the store and order what you want when it’s available? It will literally take you less than 5 minutes.
This is the only place I get my doughnuts because they are always fresh and everyone here is friendly. The owner even got my (shy) little brother to talk and order himself because she was that friendly. I recommend this place even if you live 15 minutes away because I live 15 minutes away and it’s worth it.

Blah is all I can say. Donut quality has definitely fallen. Donuts are dry and not as fresh as they once were. Not enough cream filling inside donuts. They aren’t terrible, but there are better options much closer to my home. Sausage rolls are still the best, just the donuts are no longer as good and fresh as they once were.

The donuts are fine. Maybe I angered the Shipley Donuts gods. Maybe I walked under a donut ladder.
But I seriously cannot get the waitstaff to understand when I say I wanted cream filled long Johns I mean I want the dang donut cream filled.
I’ve tried different terminology. Long john. Éclair. CREAM FILLED LONG BAR.
Nothing works. I always get home and as I’m about to dive in, realize I’ve been had and the bars are filled with nothing but my broken dreams

Do yourself a favor… GO TO B & B Bakery THAT’S LOCATED ABOUT ¼ MILE FROM SHIPLEY’s!!!
When first moving to town, my husband and I began searching for a good doughnut shop. Every time we drove past Shipley’s, there was a line out to the street so we assumed it must be good. We decided to take a chance and see what all the fuss was about.
We sat in the drive-​through line for over 20 minutes just to place the order, and by the time we made it to the window, they were out of the majority of pretty much everything, and were still four hours from closing, not to mention we waited an extra 10 minutes for our order to be filled!
The donuts, and breakfast items we did receive, weren’t good– glaze sticky and sickeningly sweet, kolaches were hard like they’d been sitting out for a very long time, drive thru staff was EXTREMELY rude and had no clue as to what was going on. She acted like it was a nuisance we were asking her to box up a whopping 3 WHOLE FREAKING DONUTS. We decided after that experience to find a different bakery and I’m SOOOOOOOO thankful that we did because just up the road (less than a ¼ mile, located on same side of the road as the $ 3 Car Wash but further down in one of the shopping strips) from Shipley’s was an absolute hidden gem– B and B Bakery.
While I hate to risk having all my favorites being bought out before I arrive once people realize it is there, I can’t stand the thought of all those people about to throw away their hard earned dollars at Shipley’s for crappy wait times, bad food, and even worse service. Really wish someone would’ve written a review like this BEFORE we wasted both time and money.

These doughnuts are worth the drive! I am a huge fan of Shipley’s. Let’s just be honest. there kinda isn’t another doughnut around like them. They are excellent cold or hot. That says a lot about a doughnut. My husband and I could eat these daily, good thing they are a ways from our house. Note to self– there is a drive thru… that is a huge plus on a Saturday am when your still sporting your pjs. Also this place closes I believe by noon so make your doughnut run before it get too late! When in Watauga Texas get a Shipley’s doughnut! It is a small piece of heaven in your mouth!

The doughnuts and kolaches are always fresh. Shipley is the only place I will buy Doughnuts.

Hands down, the best donuts I’ve ever had (especially their plain glazed). They’re always fresh, and the employees are always super polite.
My only complaint is that they don’t have the blueberry cake donuts, which are my husband’s favorite, every day, and I always forget which days they have them, and go on the wrong day!
Please don’t ever leave me, Shipley’s!

These donuts are simply amazing. Are know to make even the most organic or gluten free person to crack. You don’t have to order a «specialty» donut here to get a good donut… simply order the glaze and watch how Krispy Kreme will be put to shame. Only negative is that it’s pretty far from my house and I really can’t figure out if that’s good or bad. lol

Not a fancy place by any means, décor is pretty dated, but I took doughnuts to go so that wasn’t much of an issue. I went in on a Wednesday at around 10:30 so there was hardly anyone there, mostly because I have friends from Louisiana who fiend this place and are always raving about it (I must have lived in fairly healthy states so far, because my doughnut experience is limited to Krispy Kreme and Dunkin Donuts. The last two towns I lived in actually only had a couple of locations of the latter). Quick service, since I was about the only customer. The doughnuts were GOOD, though, at least to my unrefined doughnut palate. I thought they were as sweet or maybe slightly sweeter than a Krispy Kreme, and about that consistency, but the chocolate filled and Bavarian cream filled flavors I tried were much better than any of KK’s filled varieties. $ 2.99 for a half dozen, so pretty cheap.

The drive through takes a very long time, you might have better luck going in. Their service is very good and they are extremely friendly and welcoming. Donuts taste great of course!

This was my go to donut place when I was growing up in Texas, so my husband has always wanted to try it. We started out a few years back when we were visiting my relatives, but never made it, so this trip we were bound to go.
The one I always went to was now owned by someone else and wasn’t a Shipley’s, so we did a quick search and found the closest one and headed for it.
There was a bit of a line, so while we were waiting, we could look everything over, we’d decided we’d pick three each. They have a large selection, from the standard glazed to the big cinnamon twist, one of my favorites.
Finally our turn came, and we made our selections and sat in the small dinning area to consume them. They were just as I remember, fresh, cake like and delicious.

I’m from Amarillo. I never new how spoiled I was by Donut Stop. (If you’re ever there you *MUST* try it.)
We’ve struggled to find a donut place that comes close to our Amarillo memories. Shipley’s is as close as we’ve found.
The donuts are sweet without that weird yeasty aftertaste I get from Krispy Kreme. The icing is generous and has rich flavor. You can tell the difference between them, meaning pink is definitely strawberry while red is definitely cherry. (Maple is my favorite!)
The staff here is young, but friendly. Even when it gets crazy busy on Sundays before church, they do a good job without getting frustrated or panicked
