I’d consider this an overlooked gem among the rows of restaurants along Lakewood. There’s never a bad selection to be found, and quite a variety — even better, it won’t break the wallet. The next time you’re headed out for dessert, give these folks a try.

Upset I don’t live up the street from here anymore and now are 2000 miles away. Greatest milkshakes and ice cream in Waterbury area. Decent prices. Highly recommend to all

We needed ice cream on a long drive home on 8south. according to Unilocal,Dippy’s was close and had homemade ice cream so we made a quick detour off of the highway. less than two miles later, we pulled up to the unassuming ice cream place filled with football team/player photos, as well as one of Willie Nelson. We ordered the messy politics, vanilla with chocolate brownie and cookie dough and a coffee ice cream mixed with chocolate chunks and caramel. Delicious! You could taste that it was homemade.

The best homemade Ice Cream I ever had. I have been going to Dippy’s on Lakewood road religiously since 2006. Nothing beats a nice thick Dippy’s Milkshake on a hot summer day. I received their Oreo ice cream cake one year for my Birthday and it was out of this world. The staff knows what they are doing. Ditch the preservatives from super markets, forget the new fad Frozen Yogurts, and stop by to enjoy good old fashioned Ice Cream. I have met Dave the owner several times and he is one of the friendliest locals around. This place is decorated with his trips to several sporting events as well as many pictures of their signature ice creams. If sundaes and Shakes are not your thing, they also have mixed deserts from chocolate covered frozen bananas to the classic chocolate covered Ice Cream on a stick. Stop by and check them out today.
