When I had my mother’s takeout from Quench for lunch the next day, I was very disappointed to see how little meat there was in the chicken parm! The lack of meat and excess bread just makes this more unhealthy — I healthier than it could be. I will post a picture above

Reliable for great cocktails. Food is good. Some things are great, others okay. When the bartenders are busy the service is mediocre.

It was a fortunate turn of events and traffic that caused us to exit route 84 while heading home after visiting relatives for the Christmas holiday. As we looked for a diner we came across Quench. We were taken by the menu selections and professionalism of the staff. While what we sampled was generally light lunch fair every thing was excellent and flavorful. I would highly recommend this eatery. I am envious of those who live nearby and get to fully sample the menu. Next time when traveling through Waterbury and faced with the inevitable traffic delays, we will detour around 84 and stop in for another meal.

Went to quench for a quick drink and appetizer. It was my first time there and the first impression was OK ! The look of the restaurant is out dated and nothing fancy, but then again location is not in the best area of Waterbury so fancy was not expected. I was not too impressed with the appetizers… or my drink for that matter. The young bartender was not a very friendly girl, nor was she professional which is why I am not even going to bother to write about her stinky personality. What I WAS impressed with was the young male bartender who had such a bubbly personality that made us smile. He was very personable and made small talk with us. I work in customer service myself so wherever I go I look at how I am treated when I am on the other side of the ball park. Will I go back to this place for the food? No because you can be served mediocre food anywhere but a service that our waiter/bartender provided was in my opinion worth the visit.

About time we see menu change! Although I ordered the shrimp Mozambique. Wasn’t what I expected. Wasn’t the traditional Mozambique sauce. It was more like a buffalo style sauce.

Stopped by here for dinner with some local friends. The hostess was personable and sat us right away. The server Judy took a long time to come to our table and did not seem as though she was having a good day, took our drink order and came back about 15 minutes later. We ordered and shared some appetizers which were just okay, basic apps kind of bland. We ordered 4 dinners, 2 had to be returned, steak was ordered medium well came out purple, and the chicken in the fontina was like chewing into a piece of rubber. The waitress was visibly mad that the food was bad and says it happens a lot lately. We ended up not getting the steak because it still came out wrong a second time. Overall for the prices on the menu they should have a chef worthy of the price. Seem he may be new and inexperienced. We would not go back because of the prices… our tab was 210.00 with the steak removed. Don’t know unless you try.

We stopped here for lunch before a show at Seven Angels. We ate at a high top in the bar. We found the bar area very nice and the service was friendly. The chicken quesadilla, poached pear salad with arugula and boneless chicken wings were all very good. We will definitely be back.

Went here twice in the past 3 weeks. Food was small portioned, vegetables were cold, salad dressing bland. Would not recommend for the prices. I did give it two tries.

My husband brought me here on our very first date 2 years ago and we have been coming here since. The food is incredible, the service is on point and the drinks do the job! The pricing is on the higher side but is absolutely worth every penny! A true diamond in the rough of Waterbury!

Friends suggested we go as a group and check this place out. It was ok. Service was very pleasant but very slow. Food was fair and basic. Balsamic vinegar made me pucker and salad was limp with two cherry tomatoes — green house with farms a plenty in the area. Veal was cooked well but it was probably the smallest portion of veal ever served. My wife’s ravioli was good and our friends had pork chops, big portion, to bad way undercooked. Place was busy, bar was hopping. A locals kind of place? We we are local too but nothing said we needed to come back.

The food is great(best Fried Calamari in the city) and the service is great. Everyone is professional and courteous, and the atmosphere is fantastic. The place is filled with friendly patrons who enjoy the food, beverages and atmosphere as much as I do. I highly recommend this place. Thank you.

Went out here yesterday with my Mom and sister for lunch. The lunch menu is pretty good and not to expensive. Sandwiches were about $ 9. I would give the food about a 3. I got a eggplant and Soppressata panini. The soppressata was really good and I liked the crispy bread. I didn’t like the eggplant very much. It was pretty bland and pretty greasy. I also didn’t like the fries, they looked like frozen, crinkle cut fries. When I come to a place like this I would expect, fresh cut fries. My mom and sister seemed to like their food a lot. I liked the décor of the place. It seems like they just redid in the past few years, and I think they did a good job. I also thought the service was good. My sister had allergies and they were very good helping us with that. I would probably come back again and try something else.

Chicken and broccoli Robe was great, great salad and the peach Melba was outstanding for dessert. This was the 3rd time my wife and I have gone there and have not been disappointed yet.

Smaller scale restaurant with an Italian menu. There is a backdoor patio, bar area and dining area. Menu has good choices. Specials included Lobster Ravioli with Cream sauce, a bit pricey at $ 25, however no complaints on taste.

This is our second time dining in and lets just say our first time in was a beter experience than our second the waitress seemed like she didn’t want to be there she was complaining about her leg hurting, in that case you shouldnt be working if your injured we sat down and waited 5 min for menus after we were seated I was getting really frustrated because the place wasn’t busy at all so I really don’t know why it took so long for us to get menus. I ordered a special it was the talapia princess which was actually very good my wife had a salad and daughter had the chicken tenders everybody enjoyed the food but I hope the service gets better I would def recommend this place let’s just hope the service gets better.

Awesome job at making a place that was once a bar– look more upscale, too bad that is where it ended for us. We went there the day we close on our house to celebrate which was also my husbands birthday– hearing all the raves, we figured it was a good spot– and a sure thing for a great meal. Wow, was I wrong. I got the chicken florentine, and it was a piece of chicken with about an inch of oil/lemon that looked like soup. The garlic bread was pretty tasty… I am going to say that was the most memorable item we got. The waitress had no personality, and goes«Uhh we have specials but I don’t know them.» Walks away… comes back 10 minutes later, and hands us a hand written paper that looked like a serial killer wrote it with what I am guessing was the specials. I was too irked to even care. And she walks away for another 5 – 10 minutes. Listen sweetie, just because you hate your job, deal with it– it was 5:30 on a Monday– it was busy, the least you could have done was pep it up a bit and be more friendly. They get 2 stars, because my in-laws seemed to like this place.

Quench is one of Waterbury’s hidden gems. I had gone to Quench sometime last year and was impressed with the décor inside and was excited to try the food. I ordered a filet mignon medium. What I received was tasty, but definitely not cooked medium — it was more medium well. I hate dry steak. But I ate it anyway. My family and I returned recently and I was ready to try again. We ordered the steamed mussels, tuscan shrimp and calamari sauté for apps, which were all amazing. The mussels were quite large and steamed perfectly in a red sauce. The tuscan shrimp was wonderful, shrimp wrapped in bacon over a white bean concoction. The calamari sauté was basically sauteed calamari in a red sauce — very tasty and the calamari was nice a chewy. For my meal, I ordered chicken fontina which was AWESOME. I’m not a huge fan of marsala sauces, but this chicken was banging. It came in a marsala sauce with mushrooms, a side of veggies and some roasted potatoes. So delicious. I couldn’t eat it all but made sure to eat it for breakfast the next day. Quench is definitely one of the better restaurants in Waterbury and I will be back.
