Had a great time getting the rust off. Blades were a bit uncomfortable. Guess I just buy a new pair of my own. Cool environment but get crowded mid to late afternoon. Staff was friendly and helpful. It was my son’s first time skating. He had a blast. We’ll definitely be back next weekend.

I went to roller magic today, on Marin Luther King Jr day, because it was my last day of college break. I should have known that it would be PACKED with kids who also had the day off. I was practically tripping over children the entire time I was there. But despite this, the facility was clean, the staff was helpful and friendly, and over all this is the best roller skating rink i’ve been to in CT. Its nice and big, though the music is a bit loud sometimes, the lights are nice, and there is lots of seating. My sole complaint, is that I was with my friends, and we left to go pick up our other friend. We couldn’t have been gone more than a half hour. We left 2 sweatshirts and a water bottle on the table we had been sitting at all day. Skating is exhausting, so we took breaks frequently. When we got back, two men were sitting at the table, and all of our belongings had been thrown on the floor next to a garbage can. This obviously is not the fault of Roller Magic, i just found it unbelievably rude of them. Overall, it was a good trip and I genuinely enjoyed being at Roller magic.

My kids love it here. Not too packed, nice big floor. Good music, nice light effects. Good clean family fun :)

I would have rated this place better if the rink floor was a tad bit larger, they had better quality rental skates and you were able to skate backwards! my daughter can skate circles around anyone backwards but we couldn’t do that. i have to admit that the manager was very nice explaining the rules but it’s obvious that if she does not ‘own’ this rink, it’s the owner who is deciding this stupid rule. the music was great and i have absolutely no complaints about that. however, some of the staff could be a little less rude. if it were not for this tall skinny rink guard who has short blonde hair who by the way is one of the BEST skaters i’ve seen thus far, i would have complained about the service a bit more. that rink guard was the only nice person besides the manager and the girls working at the snack bar. the other guys who worked near the skate rental area were rude. I also didn’t mind having to sign a ‘skate at your own risk’ waiver. i kind of down blame them for doing that –as long as they handle folk who try to trip you on purpose-. going back to the skates, I usually skate at ron-a-roll but man the rental skates at ron-a-roll are 10 times better than the ones here! thank God i have my own skates, it was my friend who didn’t…oh well.

The rink in Waterbury, CT is ok but the music SUCKS! It’s fine if you’re an 8 year old girl wearing your pony tail up and to the side, but not for real skaters! They refuse to diversify the music and have no clue what«skating music» is. Dance music and skating music are different. They will give you a request sheet to fill out and then play none of the songs. I’m done going there until they diversity their music and understand that we are not all in the 4th grade!

I’ve been to Rollermagic twice recently(well, once in 2009, and once in 2012 — but really it hasn’t changed much since my first visit in 1981). Like another reviewer said, even the music is the same! Having been to another rink, the floor at Rollermagic is so much better. It’s a great skating surface. Other than that, the place is kind of yucky… the bathrooms were rusty and gross, the skates were old and worn(lots of knots in the laces, which made them difficult to put on and take off), the whole place could use new carpeting and a coat of paint. The staff was friendly — but the«referees» on the skating floor did not seem to be aware of their purpose… their showing off and disregard for the safety rules seemed to be the cause of many of the collisions on the skating floor — I saw them occasionally knock over little kids who were unlucky enough to be in their path. I would go back anyway… the skating is still fun, it’s cheap, the kids had a good time. And there’s skee-ball.

Great floors. Best floor in CT! They just repaved the road to get there, so it no longer looks bombed out. Gets a little packed on Friday nights, but if you can navigate around wobbly kids, you should be fine.

The floor here is AMAZING. Literally a derby girls wet dream. The location is a little sketch but one you turn down the dark alley, go over the 50 potholes and turn right at the gate… this place shines through like a ray of sunshine after a storm. The CT rollergirls are so lucky to have such an awesome venue to skate in.(No offense Shriner’s 143 lessthan31492.) I’ve only skated here once for a closed/private scrimmage so I don’t know what their business is like normally but I would imagine this place is pretty hoppin’ on a friday night.
