Sam’s Diner

I wouldn’t even give this place one star unless I had to. Truly the worst meal I’ve had in 20 years. Just awful. Burnt, hard chicken nuggets, or whatever they were. My friend had a burger and she said it was tasteless and overcooked. Never again.

Came here today when our usual spot was too packed. Great choice! Had the corned beef and hash and it was homemade and delicious. My husbands ham was a huge portion but it was delicious and had great flavor. It is small inside, but we were able to sit down right away and the food came pretty quickly. I can’t wait to try other items on the menu.

This was my first time to Sam’s. I was on a mission for breakfast and I Unilocaled «Best Breakfast.» Sam’s was one of the options. I checked the reviews and headed to Sam’s. The menu had many options, all of them sounded good. I had a taste for «Sweet and Savory.» I went with a Short Stack of Pancakes with a Side of Roasted Ham. I rarely see roasted ham on a menu. Typically it’s canned ham. I asked my server and she said, «it’s ham off the bone, roasted, tender and delicious.» The ham was fantastic! The pancakes were well-​flavored with just the right fluff. As another reviewer said, don’t let the humble exterior keep you from trying Sam’s Diner. The roasted ham blew away the ham I have had at finer looking establishments from Milwaukee to Chicago. Sam’s Diner has the classic diner look with very good food. Plus… drum role… Colectivo coffee!

Just had New York omelet, let’s just say awesome. Fresh corned beef and potatoes to die for. Don’t drive by STOP in.

Breakfast was great! Don’t be afraid of the ugly exterior. The pancakes are fluffy but with the perfect butter crisp edges. And I stole ½ of my husband’s potatoes which were absolutely fabulous. He devoured his ham-​filled omelette citing deliciousness. Most entertaining were the animals in back — the donkey was rolling on its back in the yard like a dog and it was really cute. It’s a diner though so don’t expect a large menu (no crepes, blintzes etc).

Ordered the beer battered fish and it was very good homemade tarter sauce and coleslaw 4 pieces of fish not bad size. Owner came out to greet us very nice and I only stopped by because I saw a review on the 10 best places to eat in Wisconsin
It’s small inside but big taste in taste

Everything we ordered (Caesar salad, shrimp scampi, Reuben and steak sandwich) was excellent! Service was great! Don’t let the drab exterior fool you. The food is great! Will definitely come back

Everything was delicious! The menu is amazing and food is terrific. The service was fantastic and we cannot wait to come back. We had a skillet, pancakes and eggs Scandinavian — every bite was perfection!

A hidden gem! From the outside this place doesn’t look like much but I couldn’t have been happier with our decision to have breakfast here. It tells you something when you’re half way through your meal and the owner himself comes to the table to ask how you’re doing. Sam is extremely friendly and you can tell takes pride in what he does, their breakfast is way above average for the money. I ordered the skillet with cheesy hash browns, they offer Altera coffee which was a nice touch. We will definitely be back

wow! Great little diner. I ordered the London Burger and it was just perfect. My fiancé had an omelette with a half order of biscuits and gravy and he loved every bit of it. Our waitress was super friendly too. I would be advised it isn’t a big diner so I suspect you may have to wait for a table during the rush times.

Fantastic place. I agree with the other posts this a a great hidden gem. We will be coming here often.

This is an unassuming looking place that I had passed by many times. The food was really good having ordered the kefta sandwich & spinach pie. Everything was made to order and was hot and tasty — the potato chips, rice, vegetables and entrees were as good as could be and the service was quick and friendly.

This place may look like a dump but don’t let the outside fool you. I almost did but trusted the great things I was reading about this place. Service is wonderful. Fish fry is fantastic. I don’t even like fish but I loved it here! Everything I’ve had was great. Sam is a pleasure to chat with also!

Oh My! My husband and I were looking for a cute little diner to stop for breakfast on our way back to IL. This was a little out of the way from where we were in WI but let me tell you so worth the ride! The joint is quaint and adorable. The food is amazing. My husband and I each had a skillet. Unbelievable! It was by far the best breakfast we ever had. Even the English muffin was fresh and flavorful! The staff was so nice and friendly. When we left we said goodbye and the entire staff in the kitchen said goodbye as well. My only regret is that it is 2 hours away from our home! That being said we will definitely take another detour to experience Sam’s again!

If there were extra stars to put on here, he would deserve them!
How do you you improve upon perfect? You just can’t, order ANYTHING from his menu and you will have your expectations exceeded. Staff = friendly and welcoming
Food = to die for
Sam = KNOWS how to cook!
It’s a shame his business gets slow due to his location. Let’s do this guy a favor and tell all about him. And pack his restaurant solid with guests. He is everything you want from a restaurant for quality.
Ps my favorite, the steak sandwich, melts in your mouth as you eat it.

SAMs is legit as legit can be. First, food is amazing… all of it. Breakfast, pizza, Lebanese sammiches… all good. And as a bonus, they use alterra coffee.
Sam still greets and cooks for all of his customers. Don’t let the outside of the building fool you. I’ll go to SAMs for breakfast over blues eggs anyday

Solid diner choice.
The exterior may look dilapidated, but the interior is busy with diners being helped by a great waitress.
Menu is long with a respectable array of selections.

Amazing little diner where everything is homemade and you can taste it!
Sam is super friendly and so is the staff.
Ask for extra bread so you can go out back after and feed the donkeys!
Highly recommend this place.

My brother and I camped at Southern Kettle Moraine.
We made our way out to Sams on our way home to Chicago and wow, what a great call.
Highly recommend this place!
