It seemed like a small store, with the front half filled mostly with books in the romance genre. Even if that set up was understandable, it still elicited a «meh». To be fair, though, I did see some classic titles of the kind assigned as required reading in school, and a few titles by local writers. But I kept walking toward the back. And as I walked through, there ahead, were two rooms with even more books from all genres including mystery, westerns, horror, and others. Off to the side of the main aisles headed toward the back, were shelves with kids and young adult books. Okay, this definitely was getting better. Until.. .. there it was, in one of the back rooms, my go-to science fiction section. And a nice one it was. Summary: Carol’s Paperbacks Plus is a winner. There is a mix of old and new titles, the books are in decent shape, and like most used bookstores, available at a good price. Some of the newer titles are available only with trade-in, keeping the flow of books and new titles to those who replenish. That’s fair. Probably one of the best touches of all, is a binder in the back room with a «if you like this author, you might like. .. .» list of suggestions. In the midst of coming across an entire section of books I hadn’t had time to look through, time got away from me, and I had to leave this nice little bookstore behind. Sigh.
