I ordered an entire Raymarine chartplotter/​fishfinder network from Defender during their warehouse sale. Their prices were the best I could find anywhere. Many items were out of stock but they were quickly shipped as they arrived. They did not wait for every piece to arrive before shipping which helped me to start the installation. When I assembled the side image module to the network switch, I had a plug with a damaged pin that would not fit. The customer service department sent one right out and issued a call tag for that bad part with no questions asked. They could not be more helpful or professional. I bought online and avoided state sales tax. I will buy from Defender again and recommend them to friends.

These guys are the best. I’ve been sailing for more than 30 years and have been doing business with Defender for most of that time. They are very knowledgeable, helpful, and their service is unbelievably good and fast. Occasionally, I may find the same product a bit cheaper, but not often, and Defender’s top-​notch reliability makes them the go-​to marine store.

Not only outstanding pricing but couldn’t be better customer service.
When I encountered a problem with some stock I received, they immediately offered to ship replacements. Customer service, quick turnaround and excellent pricing that matches most of my wholesale suppliers has me turning to Defender first now.

The warranty behind their products is thin. We ordered a dinghy seat that completely disintegrated in less than two years (and the dinghy is always undercover). The customer service girl said «tough» and actually hung up on us. Look for a company that stands behind the products they sell or be willing to shell out your dollars for the same product over and over.

This is a special place if you are a boater. The level of service and knowledge exceeds anything else in CT/​RI. The prices can be good for specials and expensive for anything else, but they usually blow West Marine out of the water. If you have that hard to find part, bring it in and I’ll bet they can help you find it. If you need a recommendation this is the place to go. They sell only quality items as far as I’ve seen. You can trust them and if you need to return something you’ll find them to be more than fair. The online store is decent. The store itself is ideal. Location is so-​so but it is worth a trip at the beginning and end of the season.

If you need Navigation and serious Off Shore stuff you go to LandFall, serious Commercial Stuff, Hamilton Marine, day to day Stuff, West Narine, Everything else you go to Defenders. Loyal customer sibce the New Rochelle days. Great tenders, kayaks, fittings, electrinics. Don’t miss there «Tent Warehouse Sales Days» when all the vendors techs are there to answer questions. This place is boating heaven. The online catalog has all the great stuff, but this outlet store is the best. I try to hit it twice a summer to see if they have a deal I need. Don’t miss out.

I discovered Defenders via a google search when I was looking for a pink kayak. Surprisingly they had it $ 50 cheaper than another local shop. Defenders is a wholesale shop.
If you need water sports equipment check out their website and then call the warehouse prior to making a trip. The store lacks organization and many of the items I wanted were out of stock. The prices were great but organization and on the floor selection was limited.
If you plan on making a trip to Defenders do your research and go only if they have exactly what you want. The store carries so many items it can be distracting and overwhelming.
Bottom-​line: great prices!
