Midas

I had a very good experience at this Midas. The store and waiting area is very clean and kept up. The manager (I think his name was Brian?) was very friendly and knowledgeable and the service was timely. I originally went in for new tires on my Saturn and they took an extra look around the entire vehicle free of charge and let me know that my brakes were about to go. I appreciated them going the extra mile before I was in danger. Would definitely recommend!

Very shady business being run! I used to take my cars here and spent a lot of money but today they tried to rip me off! I took a Ford Escape in to have the alternator replaced early this morning. This is a very difficult job on this car. After half the day wasted they call and tell me the alternator is fine. I told them that I don’t think that is right and they immediately tell me they can find out what’s wrong for $ 80 a hour and it could be 100 different things but 100% IT IS NOT THE ALTERNATOR. They wanted to rip me off or didn’t feel like doing the job because it was so difficult. So I go pick it up and drive it to Morris and Sons on Sashabaw (specialize in rebuilding alternators) to see if they could test it. Pete from Morris and Sons hooks the load test up to the battery and within 5 seconds told me the Alternator is bad for sure! He said Midas didn’t leave the load test on long enough. If they did you could clearly see the volts start to drop. Right in front of us it started to drop from 13.2 down to 12.6 in just a couple minutes. The load test from Midas said it was 14.1. He said you can clearly tell the car is running off just the battery because it should be up over 14 and not dropping like it is. I even told Brian at Midas this and he just acted like he doesn’t even care. I will never take another car there and I wonder how many people they have ripped off like this! $ 80 a hour to tell me what’s wrong and it would have been the alternator all along. Do not Trust this Midas in Waterford!!!

I went there because I had a bolt in my tire. After 3 long hrs of waiting (ridiculous) they told me it can’t be plugged due to location, which I understand. I told them I’d purchase a tire but they insisted on selling me two and would not sell me only one. Gave me some BS liability excuse. I’m taking the liability not them. Refused to sell me just one so I told them to forget it and took my business elsewhere. The new place replaced just the one tire and it was $ 100 less than Midas was going to charge me. They call them Midas for a reason (King Midas) everything turns to gold and them getting rich, ripping off their customers! Would not recommend them, take your business elsewhere and save your time and money!

I’m sorry that the other person had a bad experience at Midas on Dixie, but I have been bringing my cars here for years and I love the place.
Besides the comfortable waiting area including cookies (they are phenomenal btw), beverages, television, magazines, …, I really like the customer service. The gentleman who manages the counter is friendly and seems to be very knowledgable. He does a great job explaining any issues to me my car has, and the repair is fast. Even if I only come for little things like an oil change, they will look over my entire car (for free!!) and inform me about any problems. Best thing, they are honest! If my car needs to get work done but it could wait a few more weeks/​months, they will tell me, instead of simply adding on services I might not need (right away).
I love this place, and I will keep recommending it to people.

This place was recommended to me by someone who takes their company vehicles there to get repaired when they go down. They’ve been using this Midas for years and they know their way about town so I considered it to be a good recommendation to try them out for an oil change and to check out, what I had only hoped to be, brake replacement issues.
It’s a very nice and clean facility with a live flower arrangement by the refreshment bar in the waiting area. They offer coffee and tea, hot chocolate, pop, water iced tea, candies and cookies, cable tv, wide selection of curent mags, free wifi, shuttle service and towing are also available. They are located across right next to the Art Van. The guy manning the desk had half a personality.
Got the oil change and yes, my brakes needed to be replaced soon. Now the problem, a few weeks ago my car started overheating. The BF checked it out and saw there was no coolant. He suspected it could have been a leak and filled up the reservoir to determine if that was in fact the case. So far, so good since then, no leaks or overheating. Oh, the BF also saw that my battery terminals were insanely cruddy and built up and, even to a non-​mechanic layman, could not be missed. All these revelations pissed me off because I thought a fluid and OBVIOUS points/​problems check were part of an oil change and should have been pointed out to me, if for nothing else, but an upsell in services and equipment.
Okay, so I thought mine was a fluke situation, but the person who recommended this place was a little perturbed to find out this past week that one of their work vehicles was low on trannie fluid because a light was on. Trannie fluid needed to be added and no leaks were evident, but the vehicle was in for repair recently and that should have been caught. *
So my recommendation would be to NOT GO HERE. Their technicians are obviously slacking and/​or don’t care. Even if they do high dollar repairs well, their lack of care and attention is not worth taking any chances on. Considering that, I can only assume that I was pretty much lied to when I asked if they could tell me if my tires were still decent enough at this point and the guy at the desk just said yes. This is that I had to ask him about it again upon check out because the info was not on the form they handed me with the work that was done and had to be done (on my brakes). It’s too bad because I hear the owner is an older man that’s really nice. His workers are screwing him over.
