We were in the area and stopped for lunch. Everything was delicious! You can’t beat the prices and portions. I had the turkey melt on Texas toast with cheese and bacon, best turkey melt I’ve had in a long time! We were so impressed with the food that we went back the next morning for breakfast! Everyone at the table was pleased with their meals, huge omelettes, amazing cheesecake waffle(seriously so good!), even the Italian bread toast was the best! Can’t wait to go back and try something different when we are back in the area!

I’ve always loved Connie’s and the retro 50’s décor. The same people work there today that were there years ago! It’s got a homey, warm family feeling and cheap eats! Comfort food at its finest. Cash only but there is an ATM in the front entranceway. Get the chocolate cream pie before it sells out for the day! You will not be disappointed.

So very yummy! Homemade corned beef hash that was browned and perfectly seasoned and cheesecake waffle w fresh strawberries. Perfectly done. Sat at the counter I don’t typically do that and the waitress kept hubby occupied taking w him. So kudos to her. As everyone else said cash only but there’s a atm if needed.

Friendly staff, good food for an affordable price. Breakfast is my favorite, there are also some delicious desserts there too. I would love if they would stay open a little later.

Always crowded. Food is pretty good. Portions vary depending on what you order. Wait staff is experienced. Unfortunately the table top juke boxes don’t work… or maybe that’s a good thing since it is a small place and gets loud without any music playing. Will definitely return. No cards excepted but an ATM in lobby. No wifi, but that’s not why you go to a diner. Put your phone down and talk to real people for a change.

So. not often I get out a 5 star review. Lots to be taken into account. It’s not completely about the food but the whole atmosphere, service, food and panache of the place. I have to say Connie’s pretty much has it all. Stopped here while passing through(thanks Unilocal!). I was impressed. I was only sorry I ate so much I couldn’t try a piece of pie which looked wonderful. Had a basic omelet with american fries. Excellent. Perfectly cooked and the american fries were extra crisp just like I asked for. Oh. if you get toast, make sure you get the italian bread. yea. get that. Good stuff. If I’m ever passing through again, I’ll stop. I even bought the t-shirt(Have you had your Quickie today?)

A real old-time 1960s diner with a diner feel. Excellent selection, big portions, reasonably priced. The same awesome waitresses have been working here for decades. Warning: cash only!

An awesome diner. Low prices, fast service, fun ambiance, and most importantly excellent food. Breakfast all day and fantastic desserts means endless combinations. I recommend the Pancakes, Belgian Waffle, and Hash Browns(which are utterly delicious). Their bacon is crispy and flavorful too! I love breakfast food here, but in terms of savory options, the Mozzarella Sticks, Buffalo Wings, and NY Strip Steak are all great choices. There are plenty of pies for dessert if that’s your thing, but I prefer an ice cream cone. I’ve been coming here for years, and I’m never disappointed. It can get crowded, especially on a weekend, but that just shows you how popular this place is!

This is my favorite diner that I have EVER eaten at — and I’ve been to a lot of diners. I’ve been going to this diner since I was as young as 4 years old, and for good reason. The food is amazing, the service is fast, and the waitresses are very friendly. It’s a cute venue and the décor is great. To make note though — they do not accept cards, but there is an ATM when you first walk in. I recently moved out of state, but once I go back home to visit family I am definitely taking everyone to Connie’s.

I had a «Quickie» at Connies. Get your head out of the gutter and take a look at the website. Pies are fantastic here too.

Some diners remain completely unchanged after decades of operation and are content with the inevitable deterioration. Others have sprouted up more recently as somewhat inauthentic throwbacks to a bygone era. Because this 1963 diner changed ownership in 1989, Connie’s strikes the right balance between continuity and change. It combines the life and cleanliness of a new diner with the authenticity of an old one. Connie’s has embraced the idea that they’re something of a novelty. Like a new diner it’s decorated with memorabilia that’s designed to take you back. But like an old one, they eschew technology, so you’ll have to pay with cash and look up from the screen, because there isn’t WiFi. The menu is exactly what you’d expect. Breakfast was great. I only wish we could have stuck around to try the desserts.

1.5/5.This was a truly disappointing experience. They are long on 50’s diner décor and short on service and food quality. When we saw this place on the road it looked interesting. When we saw the reviews we were excited to try it. So we stopped by on a Tuesday night and joined a few other groups waiting at the door for service. No service was provided. While they were certainly busy and pretty much full so I understand that we couldn’t be seated. But at no point in the more than 10 minutes we waited did anyone say anything to us. No «be right with you folks.» No «we’ll get you seated as soon as we have something available.» Just a few awkward moments of eye contact with random servers. So we decided to walk out and come back later. The next morning we stopped in again, hoping our experience had been an anomaly. After a brief wait we were seated. Things went better this time but they were still not good. The waitress was pleasant but minimally attentive. But the food was on par with a low grade cafeteria. Not sure what everyone else sees in this place but I would look else where.

If Unilocal had a 2.5 rating I’d apply that to Connie’s. My boyfriend had a breakfast there on 8÷13÷14. The food was okay it felt more like cafeteria quality vs what you’d expect from a diner with a high amount of traffic.(We’d tried to have dinner there the night before. However there was a rather substantial line of people and what appeared to be no attempt from the staff to make it any shorter.) The service was okay also and I felt after we order our food very little attention was paid to us. If you’re looking for a quick breakfast I’d recommend Tim Horton ‘s down the road because for me Connie’s was just okay.

Simply good food and inexpensive. My husband & I spent about what you’d expect at a fast-food chain but for a freshly prepared meal. If you’re anywhere near Waterloo, make sure to stop here to refuel! Yes, they only accept cash but there’s an ATM inside.

If you want classic diner like we did, this is the place. CASHONLY but they have an ATM in the joint. We ordered the fried broccoli and it was yummy. We got the kids grilled cheese with fries(split between two kids). My wife and I got the turkey on Texas toast with cheese and bacon melt. Everything was filling and we got really full. Everyone was nice and friendly. Will come back in the future.

If you happen to be in Waterloo this is a real nice option if you like classic diners. The seating and the tables are cozy, if not a touch small, but hey its a diner. And with the celebrity photos and 45s(records) on the walls, mini table-top juke boxes in the booths, the chromed coat racks, and the waitresses(all ladies) wearing bowling style shirts, it has maintained the classic diner aura. I had the good fortune to be lunching with two local guys who had been coming here since,(no sh*t) the 1960’s. If you ever get the chance to take your grandparents, or great auntie or uncle, out to lunch at any place that is still open from their youth, do it, its can be a hoot! Breakfast served all day, which is for me, a necessary quality for any diner. I had the breakfast special: two eggs, hash browns, toast, and choice of meat(bacon for me) for $ 4.89! The hash browns were actually sliced and fried potatoes,(cut like disks as if for Au gratin), and fried to crispy brown edged. Just like my grandma’s, yum. The toast was slathered in butter and still warm when served. Good diner coffee, not fancy, not watered down, a good hot to warm-but-drinkable temperature, really decent coffee. My lunch mates had more breakfast choices and the beef noodle soup, all good, all the way around. If there was a reason to not give it five stars, it was that the mixed berry pie, although decent, was clearly a mass produced ready made pie and not one made from scratch. Other types of pies, slices of which, were observed being enjoyed by other diners confirmed this conclusion. Minor bummer. It gets full at noon, so arrive a little early or after 12:30 to miss the lunch rush. Good, fast service, sometimes with a little good natured chit chat. Classic stuff for those who like it.
