Hy-Vee Market Cafe

I’ve been want to try this restaurant. But I have to admit I was put off a little bit because it’s inside a grocery store. But it was amazing. The ambience was great the waitress was wonderful one of the best I’ve had in a long time the food was great I will totally come back again. We had kids with us and they were treated well. Was surprised that they have a full bar.

Hy-Vee’s Market Café was a pleasant surprise to us on an afternoon visit to pick up some groceries. The previously open seating area for the deli had been replaced by a closed restaurant with large glass sliding doors.
«Is this an actual restaurant now?» our small group asked each other as we stood, confused. A girl stepped out with a smile saying, «Yes, we are!» She handed us a to-​go menu to look over.
They offered peanut butter and banana burgers. I was sold, as was the rest of my group.
We went inside and were seated. The staff, from the girl who welcomed us and the young waiter who took care of us were all very enthusiastic and seemed to enjoy what they were doing. This, on its own, would have been enough to impress me.
Their menu offerings were surprising; right here, at our local Hy-​Vee, was a gourmet selection of steaks, salads, exotic burgers, and even an «under 600» calorie menu. What’s more, they had a nice little bar serving a wide selection of spirits.
I ordered the peanut butter and banana burger, as did one of my friends, while the other ordered a nice chicken salad. The food was amazing. And as I am one who judges an establishment based on the quality of their burgers, this place was top notch and has surpassed both Beck’s and Screaming Eagle. We were all very, very impressed and have been talking about it ever since.
The prices are not especially cheap, like one might expect from a grocery store restaurant, but are what you might expect from a quality establishment. You are getting what you pay for, here, and it is well worth it.
