Very poor design for a new facility, can get very crowded without many people. Restrooms are too compacted with poor 'traffic flow'. Hopefully the other 'new' facilities being built or planned don't follow this design, though knowing the State they will all have the same terrible design.

Too Small- poor design, slow service, and too narrow more like a tiny house than a rest stop. Who thought this was a good design in the time of COVID, so small, and just walking in you are on top of the person in front of you.
1/4 the restroom size and will never handle the summer travel season. Take the exit and find a local business not worth the stop!!!

I prefer the travel plazas with Roy Rogers rather than the more typical Mcdonalds or Burger King type of food option. You can also get your Dunkin coffee fix if you are a Dunkin fan like some in my car. A larger store and more variety than you will find in more eastern plazas along the thru-way.

This is one of the least smelly rest stops in upstate NY. But, it was still kinda smelly. It was quite crowded when we stopped and didn’t want to wait in a seemingly endless fast food lines for mediocre calorie dense fare. We opted for the convenience store and got the heck outta dodge. Some old people were sitting at a picnic table drinking a jug of wine– always good people watching at rest stops!

Use the bathroom, then keep it moving… not worth the stop unless your bladder is busting at the seams.

3.5 stars, on a spectrum, rating only against other Thruway plazas as a comparison. Clean bathrooms and entryways go along way. The meager selections of food drop it back from a four star review. This plaza does seem to get a lot of traffic but it seems to turn over quickly too. FYI –there is a New York State Police barracks right next to it, for those of you who think the speed limit is a casual suggestion for a minimum travel rate.

Arrived on a Wednesday morning so it wasn’t too crowded. Although there were few options, it worked well as a small rest stop. The washrooms were clean and it was fairly spacious.

Junius Ponds is a small service station that has Dunkin Donuts, Roy Rogers and maybe one other food place. It really doesn’t have too many options.

You take your life in your own hands to eat the food served here, after first bite the balance went straight into the trash

Lines, lines, and then more lines. I happened upon this rest stop on a Sunday night. There is a Dunkin Donuts that had a line about 10 deep, a Roy Rogers that had a line about 7 deep, and they had a store that had the usual«I love NY» merchandise with no line. Aside from this, if you have to pee they have nice restrooms and a big seating area to eat at. Even a truckers lounge is here for. This is quite a busy place so if you manage the wait, I am sure you will like what they have to offer. One of the reviews here noted they had good maps, but I have never seen a map where I thought«boy this is a bad map». So if you are looking for good maps, are just hungry and have a good map/gps already, stop here for all of your rest stop needs.
