Hands-​down the best Maid Rite I’ve ever been to when it comes to food. The place is a dive but has its own unique characteristics. There is seating inside could fit probably 20 people. There is no public restroom available.
We were immediately greeted by a friendly lady. She quickly took our order and bring us up. There were two other employees there one manning the fryer in the grill and the other taking orders and preparing sandwiches. They were all very friendly and greeted us.
The food was amazing. Their regular sized sandwich was very large and packed with meat. This location doesn’t have the mega size Sandwich and they don’t need it because the regular ones are so large. They serve their sandwiches on fresh Hyvee bakery buns. Which makes them even more awesome. We also got the fries and cheese balls. And I got a strawberry shake which was very good.
We stayed and ate there. They brought our food to our table for us and made sure we had everything we needed. They were really busy when we left but they all shouted thank you to us as we walked out the door.
I will drive the extra distance in order to go to this location again.

I have traveled to Iowa a few times (hubby’s family lives there) and had heard about the famous Maid-​rites. I don’t eat much meat, but I do like to partake in local flavors, and hubs insisted this was the place to experience this Midwestern treat.
The counter was serviced by a very friendly staff, the food was hot and fresh and the restaurant, though teeny tiny, was tidy. Hubs and I split one sandwich and the waitstaff was kind enough to serve us two wax sheets and spoons to scoop up the ‘loose’ meat crumbles.

Love it. I am recent transplant to Iowa, but where has Maid Rite been my whole life? It is right across from my work so it makes an easy lunch stop. Owner is great, learned my name after my second visit. Great fresh baked buns for the sandwiches. Worth a shot if you are out that way.
