Sofa Mart

We’re looking for a new couch, so we thought we’d stop by Sofa Mart. It’s one store out of a huge «Furniture Row» line of stores near Sam’s Club. It looks like a small strip mall, but it turns out that all of the stores are interconnected — yet still somewhat separate. There’s a mattress store, wooden furniture store, something else I don’t remember, and then there’s Soft Mart.
Soft Mart is, as you imagine, filled with soft, plushy furniture. They sell regular couches, couch sets, chairs, sectionals, decorations, end tables, coffee tables, and pretty much any furniture you’d think would belong in a living room.
There were tons of sales people around, but we weren’t offered help. I consider this a GOOD thing. I’m sure I could have asked anybody about something if I wanted, but I wasn’t pressured into making a buy nor did I feel awkward while a sales associate stood around while my partner and I were talking. I love knowing I could ask questions, but I wasn’t being pestered. This was definitely a good sign.
They do have a good variety of furniture. We ended up finding a couple couches that could have potentially worked. Unfortunately, they were outside what we wanted to spend or larger than the room we were outfitting. I did like the selection they had, though.
We didn’t end up buying anything. The prices were higher than we originally wanted to spend. However, that’s not to say that there weren’t some great deals. For Memorial Day, they’re selling a couch and loveseat set for $ 500. We’re looking for more of a sectional-​type couch, so it wouldn’t work for us, but that’s a good price. I’d recommend checking out their other deals on a weekly basis. We’ll probably be doing that.
I wasn’t as fond of their clearance section. When I go to a clearance section, I expect a decent amount of useable stuff. They have a lot of single, awkward pieces of sectionals. They also «stack» up their clearance, so you can’t even sit or try to sit on the items on the higher shelf. (See photo for example) Everything is extremely squished into this tiny room, and it’s very difficult to shop. Again, most of the pieces were recliners or single sections of a sectional, though. And for being clearance, prices seemed extremely high, so I’ll admit that I wasn’t very impressed by the clearance section.
Final thoughts: It’s a good place to shop for furniture with a good selection and some stress-​free shopping. Their prices are a bit higher than I wanted, even in their clearance section, but I’ll be keeping an eye on the weekly sales to see if I can find something I like.
