This diner started off as our fill-in for visits to a popular Waterloo diner(see my other review), but it’s become something of a regular breakfast spot for us, as well.(It helps that they are open on Mondays and take credit cards.) The Star Diner is nothing special to look at — almost seems like a throwback to the 1980s — but the food is delicious and reasonably priced, the service is friendly, and they keep the coffee hot and coming. Definitely recommend the pecan pancakes.

Food was great… Thanks for being open on the first of the year. Small comfortable diner. They serve breakfast all day… So an inlet and corned beef hash at noon worked for me!

Do not come here if you are a young female. There are a plethora of older gentleman that eat here and they will stare at you the entire time you eat. Please note the man in the red hat in the one photo i posted under tips(looks like they removed the pic I posted, just trust me it was creepy… having a guy chewing and intensely staring at you makes you feel like you’re in rape city); Its been like this for over a half hour. I’m glad I’m not here alone. Food is great and you get a lot for your money.

This was our first time stopping in as we’ve passed it many times and heard from friends it was good. One thing right off the bat compared to another diner down the way, this place TAKESCREDIT! We sat ourselves, the place had a relaxed and quiet feel to it. We noticed everyone currently in the place was of a older generation, no biggie, that usually means better prices. It wasn’t super busy but only had one lady working. We ordered 2 coffees a #1 working man(3 eggs, 3 bacon, 3 sausage, homefries and cinnamon bread it was 50 cents extra) for me and the wife got the cheese delight(bacon, eggs, cheese, hash browns and sourdough bread(50 cents extra). The food took a reasonable amount of time, the server was polite and inviting. The food was hot, fresh and delicious. The down home cooking grandma used to make. We will be back.

Cruisin’ down the open highway and look for a place to eat. Chains galore. But look, a diner! What a cute little LOCAL place the Star is, too. I always love to check out really local places, far of the beaten track. The Star is very local with an inexpensive menu, good service, and perfect 80s décor. The staff was friendly and efficient. My selection was just a burger and fries with a bit of cole slaw. Hearty and good… great food for cruising the New York countryside.
