Unless you don’t want to get where you are going. Drive to cedar rapids. You cannot count on these flights being on time or going due to don’t issue at the airport.

Incredible. The TSA at Waterloo is something else. My wife and I travelled from Spokane, WA to Waterloo, IA. In the Spokane airport we had no problem with a Kubaton, small«martial arts» self defense plastic tubelike object, that can work as a keychain, but now checking through TSA in Waterloo to fly back they fought it. We made a point to ask«hey what’s the deal» the tsa guys explained it to us and wrote a bunch of info on my wife, a police officer has to come in for I don’t know what to decide whether we get to keep it or not. Not take it on the plane, the in-laws are waiting right outside to take the kubaton in case the officer says it’s ok to have it back. I don’t see why he shouldn’t say yes. If you are going through this airport expect the unexpected, check online what Items you can and can’t bring before the government takes it away from you and writes you up to watch you under the TSA if you are one that continues to have these kinds of accidents, there might just be consequences more than just waiting to get written up by them.

This is the tiniest cutest airport I’ve been to yet. No resturaunts, nothing of any real interest in the place at all really. Two gates(one unused), and two flights out per day to Ohare, so far as I know. But for all that, it’s kept immaculately clean, and(as is the case at most small airports) everything’s on a nice tight schedule. TSA is indeed humorously thorough here, but they’re all very friendly, and I enjoy flying in about once a year to see family.

For a tiny airport, only two gates of which only one is utilized ALO is my preference over CID unless it is snowing or high winds. For the most part they fly little planes, I call them puddle jumpers as they only go back and forth to MSP and are usually prop propellers! So even though it is small, and flies to MSP, and only really uses one of 2 gates… it is my home base and I like it! TSA is very serious here… they search every bag!
