Nicole, the owner and colorist is the best!!! After moving to the area, I had several disastrous visits trying to find a new hairstylist. I stopped into Boston color group and it was love at first sight! Nicole is a great listener. She«gets» it, goes out of her way to make sure you are happy, and her technical skills are amazing– you will not be disappointed!

Nicole is an amazing hair stylist! I came to her after a horrible experience from a previous salon where they dyed my hair jet black instead of medium brown. She takes the time to have a free consultation where she listens to what you would like to have done and then expertly explains exactly what she will do to your hair and why she is using the techniques she uses. She was able to transform my hair into a beautiful warm honey blonde. I love it and get many compliments on my hair! Price is similar to other salons in the area. Her expertise and care for detail set her apart from the other salons. She also cares about her clients and has even given me contacts for job opportunities. I highly recommend going to her you will wish you had gone to her sooner!

Nicole Cullinan is truly the best I have been to in the many decades of my life. She was able to use her training and expertise to correct four different colors and non-colors that were on my head. Others tried and only colored my light hair brown and added highlights. She removed all the many colors to be able to start fresh and give me the color I wanted, — light ash blonde. As I have both dark and white roots, she treated both colors differently. The end result was a head of hair that was totally light ash blonde with no other shades unnaturally present. If you are not happy with your color job, see Nicole. You won’t be sorry. The individualized care she gives is exceptional. She is unbelievable. For the three hours I was there, the cost was moderate. I have paid more for less done.

I have been going to Nicole ever since she magically fixed my fluorescent magenta hair disaster. Not only is she so talented, but she listens and gives amazing advice about cuts and color. My hair has never looked better and it is all thanks to her!

Nicole is the best colorist and by my surprise she cuts absolutly awesome! I have been to many! She knows her business that is for sure. She is a great business women and a very down-to earth personality and is highly skilled. Not a glammy salon but the atmosphere is fun and lively and Nicole makes everyone feel comfortable and relaxed. Nicole stripped my hair and I was a bit worried. But I have been back three times so far and she goes above and beyond to make sure her clients are happy with the finished product. I have gray hair and use to be a blonde and other stylist were trying to darken it. Then I ended up with a skunk strip down the middle of my head. For Nicole it is effortless for her to make the ajustments needed to have natural looking color without having to go 100% gray. If you want a excellent cut and remarkable color then you need to contact Nicole. You will not be disappointed. One last word to sum up Nicole with her work and personality. FABOULOUS!

I loved my first haircut, except my daughter had to trim some long strands that had been left when my long hair was cut short. It was a little pricey, for being in and out of there in about 20 minutes, but I wanted something different, and Nicole gave it to me. So… I set up an appointment for highlights. Buyer beware. If she has to cancel, she notifies you by email. I don’t know about you, but I cannot get personal email at work. Heck, I don’t even have cell coverage in the building where I work. I have no problem with someone needing to cancel an appointment – it happens. I do have a problem with going through contortions to get out of work(turns out it was a crazy day in the office) so that I could get to her on time. I ran into a store to get enough change to load up the parking meter and then found she wasn’t at the salon yet. The stylist in the salon said she thought she might not be coming in that day. I called her # and left a message – no call back until 20 minutes later after the stylist finished with her client and texted her. When Nicole called me, she told me that she had sent an email that morning. I was pretty frustrated, and she handed that same attitude right back at me. What I couldn’t manage to spit out while she kept interrupting with«what do you want me to do,» was that as frustrated as I was, the issue wasn’t that she had to cancel, it was the fact that she relied on email to do it. I said we’d talk when we’d both calmed down. When I read her email later that night, it wasn’t much consolation because in the email she asked me to let her know that I’d received it. Did she ever hear from me? No. Did she follow up? No. If she’d called and left a message, I would have heard it when I stepped out of the building and before driving 45 minutes to the appointment. Is it just me, or do other businesses rely on email for cancelling the same day as an appointment is scheduled for? I have never received a cancellation by email – the same day or otherwise. And, personally, I think that is an unprofessional way to run a business. I found a different salon, made an evening appointment for the following week(same price as Nicole quoted me), and I love my hair – the color and the cut. My appt. lasted a little over 2 hours with all the perks of a really nice salon. I am willing to shell out $$ and leave work early for the professional advice and personal pampering, but not when it comes laden with stress. This review relates mostly to customer service. I have no way of knowing how the highlighting actually would have come out.

Ladies, prick up your ears! THISPLACEROCKS! When I moved from New Hampshire, I resisted getting my hair cut for the LONGEST time. I had people in New Hampshire! I had contacts in New Hampshire! I had a hair stylist in New Hampshire! Alas… I was no longer IN New Hampshire! After having learned(from experience, unfortunately) that I have entered a point in my life where I can no longer rely on Super Cuts and the Hair Cuttery to give me the panache to match my personality. I did my homework on the salons in the area(cha-CHING — Harvard Sq is MAD expensive!) and was finally referred to Nicole, owner of the Boston Color Group. She — is — amazing. Seriously, it was hair magic(«Sheer genius»?). I took her some conceptual photos and she gave her advice as to what would suit my facial/body structure/personality best. Then we had a blast just chitchatting away which she snipped away the layers of previous shameful cuts. The end result was just phenomenal(though mildly $$ for my limp wallet: 45 $ for a cut and no blow-dry) — she is now my go-to stylist! Nicole recommended products and style tips; she also told me to call anytime if I was having trouble styling my hair — free consultation! Essentially — I’m in love with BCG. They turned up the volume of my look and have me coming back for more.

This is a fantastic salon and Nicole, who is the colorist and owner, is an amazing stylist. My hair was a mess and a weird shade of red-orange when I came to her, and I needed it to look nice for my wedding, and she made it look fabulous. She corrected the color to a lovely honey blond and gave me beautiful, blended highlights. Later on, when I wanted to go dark, Nicole did a great job with that too. My sister went to Nicole upon my advice for a haircut, because she has curly/wavy hair and has a hard time finding someone who can cut it well, and she wasn’t disappointed either. Nicole cut her hair perfectly, and my sister was super-happy with the result. All in all, I fully recommend Nicole and the Boston Color Group and I think that you’d be hard pressed to find a better stylist. And, Nicole is really nice and really down-to-earth, so you’ll have a pleasant experience if you go.
