The food is great — large portions, something for everyone, good breakfast. Though not consistent, it’s never bad. All of this is, of course, if you can get a table. There is always a wait which wouldn’t be a problem if the hosts were better trained to manage a wait list of hungry patrons. The last three visits have really made that apparent. On one of these visits, there were 5 couples waiting for 2-top tables and a party of 4. A new couple walked up and asked a waiter for a table for 2 or if there was a wait. They were sat immediately and all of us waiting discussed this as we watched the list be ignored. The second of these visits the waitress missed three lines in the list and was corrected by those waiting. She apologized but that didn’t help anyone waiting as folks were skipped. The third visit, showed similar poor planning and attention to the wait list. We left without being seated after an hour. We’ve visited this spot for years and, unfortunately, don’t feel it’s worth the trouble any more. If you have lots of time(talking hours), the food will not disappoint.

Uncommon Grounds is completely overrrated and the customer service is atrocious. Im an optimist at heart but i genuinely feel that the owner is a bad person :(The rest of the staff is pretty nice and polite but the owner is the most important person at an institution. Ive dined at Uncommon Grounds many a times but recently I had a horrible experience that has left the worst taste in my mouth. They told me the wait was 15 minutes and it was 20 degrees outside so I waited in my car. I returned after 15 minutes and they gave my table to another party. Then they went on to tell me to wait outside after giving my table away. We asked to speak to a manager or owner and the owner came charging over telling us to «get out and wait outside!» because if was too crowded inside. But when we waited outside, they gave our table away! We told him our situation and he went on to say that its not that cold outside and that every restaurant makes you wait outside. He was extremely brash and rude and while screaming«JUSTGOSOMEWHEREELSE!!!» Ive been to every brunch spot in and around the city, and never in my life have I experienced such horrendous customer service from an owner. What kinda place tells you to go somewhere else instead!!! Especially an OWNER!?! If you want to get frostbite and die, feel free to check out Uncommon Grounds :)

I love the Chicken Noodle Soup and Hot Chocolate whether it is summer or winter, any season I would eat soup and hot chocolate, I have had the Chocolate chip pancakes and home fries also good choices.

My husband and his friends have been going here for years! The food is very good, and the portions are HUGE! However, there is hardly a day that it isn’t unpleasantly crowded. Our group of friends has since out grown the restaurant and space as they’ve married and had children. This is not a good place to bring the kids to.

My girlfriend and I stopped in a few days ago for the first time, this little breakfast place is small, but clean and kinda hidden. We ordered the coconut French toast and a egg bacon and potatoes, both were delicious. May I add the food presentation at this place is absolutely amazing! I will definitely be back!

I enjoy their lemon ricotta pancakes on the weekends. They are delicious. Great supporting a local restaurant.

Oh I love this place so much! Definitely a perfect place for the weekend brunch. We ordered omelet, pancake and ice coffee. Nice food, coffee, service and quite large portions! We went there on the sunny Sunday morning, and sit outside :-) Can’t wait to go back!

I went there with mother in law for lunch. We got there by 11:45, by 12:45pm there was a big line at the door on a Friday. She ordered the sandwich and salad(it’s a lot of food). I ordered the House Special Burger with sweet potato fries. The sweet potato fries were soft inside and crispy outside. SOGOOD! The burger was tasty too. I definitely want to go back there, now for brunch!

Visiting the Boston area for the weekend and went here for brunch with my friend. 4 star brunch place and here’s why: — Extensive menu for a suburban brunch place — Reasonably priced — Good service I got the Sweet and Spicy omelette and my friend got a Breakfast Burrito. Both were great. If you’re in Watertown and looking for a solid brunch place, give Uncommon Grounds a try.

Ehh. We came here because of the really good reviews but the place wasn’t out of this world. My 5 best friends and I came for breakfast and our wait was over an hour. This place is not really well suited for large groups. I ordered the margharita omelette and it was okay, a little bland. However, I ordered it as egg whites and it was $ 3.00 extra! That seemed pricey. My friend made her own omelette and ending up spending $ 16 on it! It was a little overpriced and the coffee wasn’t good. I was not impressed with this place, my friends all like their meals but it was just a regular old diner to us. Maybe we should have had their famous French toast or pancakes but none of us are sweet breakfast eaters. I would be willing to try this place again, but maybe with a smaller crowded and not on a Sunday morning in the summertime.

I went back recently and was less impressed with the everyday weekday menu than the Valentine’s specials. The staff were nice and the food was fine, but I was a bit turned off by the $ 2 charge for syrup on pancakes or waffles.

I like this place. i have been. Here a few times. i like that it has outdoor. Seating. it does not seem to get crowded. Like other nearby places which can be a great alternative. The staff is friendly. And the food is good. I like the new painting. That is going on on the side and on the street there. keep up the good work. the neighborhood. Keeps getting. More colorful! The eggs Benedict. Was great. i dont want. To compare this place with the town Diner. i like them both very much.

A little tiny diner, where we stopped for breakfast. They had some seriously yummy home fries, and a huge variety of mix-in choices for your scrambled eggs or omelettes. Choice of toast, English muffin or a variety of bagels with your eggs. I had a sweet and spicy chorizo sausage scramble, and my husband had berry stuffed French toast with a ricotta cream filling.(He was very tempted by the crispy French toast. coated with rice crispy cereal and deep fried… maybe next time!). Portions were generous(I shared some of mine and still took some home.) The menu for breakfast and lunch was humorously diverse: everything from Mexican to Greek to Mediterannean influences and ingredients. We will go back!

Loved this place! much more affordable alternative to the typical Boston brunch spots… I came on a Sunday, and my only complaint is that although the list said 20 minutes, we waited about 50. However, it’s Sunday brunch in Boston, so that’s to be expected. Food was amazing! I had a phenomenal omelet with home fries, and they had great coffee as well! waitress was super friendly and helpful.

I don’t care… This is a good breakfast. Can’t say much about the fancy schmancy stuff but the reg breakfast combos are solid… The almond joy cappuccino was excellent and fulfilled all my expectations as an almond joy lover, I always feel like nuts, with my coconut and chocolate…

We came around noon on a Sunday hoping to not wait for an hour to sit down. Luckily we were seated within 15 minutes and was able to sit outside. Service was excellent and quick, we had our drinks within a matter of minutes when we sat down. I ended up ordering the breakfast combo platter with the lemon ricotta pancakes, these were amazing! Almost reminded me of a lemon poppy seed muffin, minus the poppy seeds. Very moist with the ricotta and had a lovely hint of lemon flavor, definitely not over flavored but just right. A specialty omelet was also ordered, cooked perfectly and stuffed full of fresh ingredients. Everything was cooked to perfection and the coffee is really good here. They offer a range of special coffee drinks and flavors but it really says something when the plain coffee is god! Parking is easy; they do have their own private lot but you can also park on the street or side roads.

I had walked past this place quiet a few times and then decided to drop in yesterday to give it a try. Very friendly atmosphere, mostly local crowd and a family owned business. They make all the things off the menu very fresh! Decent portion sizes and for a reasonable $. Variety of items to choose from, sandwiches, panninis, different kind of egg styles, coffee and other hot beverages, pancakes etc. If you are here in peak lunch/brunch hour expect a little wait, it isnt a huge space. Definitely worth a return visit!
