Twinkies, fruit pies, and frosted chocolate cupcakes, oh my!!! Those sweet snacks were a part of growing up in the 80s and 90s. This Wonder Bread/Hostess Thrift Store offers one stop shopping for discounted bread, snack cakes/pies, cookies, and dry grocery items. I used to shop here for my bread and snack needs weekly when I lived and worked in the area, now I only stop here occasionally. As a kid, I can remember reading about Hostess Twinkies, Cupcakes, and Fruit Pies in back of old Marvel Comic Books and looked forward to finding those sweet treats in my lunchbox, nostalgia! On my recent visit to this store, the shelves were pretty well stocked since I saw the big Wonder Bread Truck leave just as I was arriving. The prices here are decent, a small loaf of Wonder White Bread was $ 1.05 and individual Hostess Fruit Pies/Twinkies packs were priced 80 cents each. Back in the day(1990s), I can remember paying only 35 cents for a loaf of bread and Hostess fruit pies used to be 4 for $ 1. This store also carries assorted breads, buns, rolls, English muffins, mini muffins, mini pies, cookies, mini donuts, dessert shells, snack food, generic boxed macaroni & cheese(69 cents a box), and other assorted items. There are also 100-calorie snacks available including the Twinkie bites and cupcakes. There are discount racks and tables throughout the store. The concept here is the more you buy, the more you save, small discounts offered for buying more than one of the same kind of item. As I was checking out with my bread purchases, the cashier asked me if I wanted to buy lots of Twinkies and Cupcakes since she pointed to some special racks that had large boxes of those sweet treats at only $ 1 each, but I had to buy 5 boxes to get the discount. I told the cashier: «I think I’m all set, those Twinkies are loaded with too many fats and sugars» and passed on the offer, just too much for me, but then I saw some delicious Stuckey’s Pecan Rolls at the register. IMPULSEBUY!!! I grabbed a couple pecan rolls to add to my purchase. Those Stuckey’s Pecans Rolls so ROCK! Too much fats and sugars? I’ll let this one slide this time.
