At the request of my significant other, we checked out Mr. Chicken after a recent day trip and hike to Watkins Glen. Eat in(outside if the weather permits). Take out. Large selection. Old-timey Shaller’s feel with the booths. Not much decoration. But you don’t need none o that if you’ve got good chicken. And they do. My husband got the whole roasted chicken. It was quite tasty. And I prefer this over fried chicken any day. I went with a Spiede sandwich. If you’re in the Southern Tier, you might as well take advantage of the offering. A standard hotdog bun isn’t really my cup-o-tea, but the chicken was tasty! I’d come back again if I was in the area!

Food is ok. However, being across from a huge place like the state park where there are millions of visitors and tourists, that this place would and should take debit/credit cards as payment. Nope. Then say«we have an ATM» well, OK. However, make sure it isn’t out of service!

Had the chicken nuggets meal. Came with fries, cabbage and a roll. The bbq sauce was ok. Very sweet. The roll was very soft and good. Nuggets and fries were average.

They don’t make their own chicken nuggets at mr. Chicken? We ordered the rotisserie chicken and it was dry as a bone. The white meat was like jerky, the dark not bad. The fries and onion rings were ok. We just didn’t love this place at all.

Amazing! I usually get the chicken and biscuit. It is really good. They don’t take credit cards, but I think they have an atm, if not, there is one in the Valero right across the street.

Mr. Chicken really hit the spot(and also happens to be one of the few places to eat in Watkins Glen). I could recommend the crispy chicken sandwich or the hot chicken sandwich with gravy. The first is a simple thin fried chicken patty with sandwich topped with the usual fixings(lettuce tomato mayo cheese etc at your request). The hot chicken sandwich with gravy is a really strange animal. Two pieces of white bread with chicken in between and then literally smothered in their(rather unappealingly colored) gravy. It basically tastes like thanksgiving and requires a knife and fork to eat. I can also vouch for the in-season rhubarb pie.

Mohave desert white meat. I like my poultry cooked through but not to the point of shoe leather. Instant mashed potato for a Mom and Pop place means lazy in my book.

Do you like chicken? Of course you do. Do you like Mr Chicken? Of course you do. Come get some awesome fried chicken. Why aren’t you eating it yet?

Wished it had been fried chicken but the roasted was OK. Instant potatoes so steer clear. There is no feasible reason that any place doing business should serve instant mashed potatoes. The chicken was ok, dark meat great white super duper dry. The pie left a lot to be desired. Overall I think mr chicken needs a scratch-made makeover. You have the opportunity to be a real attraction being outaide watsons Glenn. Still better than the other options visible from the watsons parking lot.

My family and I regularly eat at Mr. Chicken on our annual trip to the Finger Lakes. Typically we all order the chicken and biscuits. It comes with mashed potatoes and is smothered in chicken gravy. It isn’t fancy food but it is tasty, wholesome and filling(particularly after hiking the Glen). Sometimes the chicken is sometimes a little dry but all the gravy compensates for that. My wife likes the coleslaw, it’s very creamy with a mild flavor. It’s popular with the locals and is a good value.

First and last time I eat at Mr. Chicken. It’s not good. At all. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Chicken made a number of different ways in a busy local family establishment with small touches of character and a focus on making chicken that people will eat. The chicken pot pie was delicious, but be careful of the buffalo chicken, it was good but unexpectedly hot! The homemade blackberry pie and carrot cake totally hit the spot. Yummy and low key spot for an inexpensive and tasty dinner.

The food was terrible and overpriced. They receive one star for abundant parking.

Why call yourself Mr. Chicken and not offer fried chicken? «Only got rotisserie», the gruff, unpleasant women said. So I got a quarter chicken dinner, that was dried out, covered in a mucous-like yellow gravy with all the flavor of wallpaper paste. So now we know why Mrs. Chicken left.

Gravy with fries. Enough said.

Great food, period. The chicken is delicious, and dinners reasonably priced for their size. The home made pies are a great touch after a lighter(small) chicken dinner. Make sure you have cash, they do not take credit or debit cards.

Thank you to the blonde haired lady who made my chicken meal enjoyable. I got a chicken fried sandwich and it was good for what you get. I asked for onions not realizing they would be diced and smothered in with the cheese. So my recommendation is only ask for onions if you really love onions, or it will overpower the sandwich. I also got a slice of «home made pie» which ended the meal nicely.

What a great chicken shack! Belly on up to the counter and order from the menu that is taped down there. The lovely teenage staff will be happy to take your order and have you wait at the counter ’til it’s done. It sounds cold, but it’s a good system. I’m not usually a big nugget fan, but boy do I love theirs! My sister loves to get the BBQ beef sandwich, I find it to be a bit overkill, but to each their own, right? Oh, and the dessert pies, yummm! They’re all good but they also offer a strawberry shortcake that is just what a strawberry shortcake should be. Whatever you do, do not miss the french fries with gravy or a chicken speedie. You can buy the speedie sauce at any local grocery store, but good luck finding it anywhere outside of NY state. What an amazing regional treat!
