We really had a lovely time at this B&B. Even my husband likes it, and he is normally happier at a Hilton or Sheraton. The house was contemporary with all the modern conveniences, but with an old-fashion welcome from the hosts. The location is a good base to visit Watkins Glen state park nearby, and the local wineries. It is on a busy road which is easy to find, but a bit noisy. Still, we loved it and would come back.

First off, and most importantly, Donna and Frank are first rate hosts at this beautifully maintained B&B. They are former air force air crew, and true to form, they were spot-on. They are happy to engage you in a lively conversation or, just as ready to respect your private time when enjoying the hot tub or pier, as the sun sets over this, the largest of the Finger Lakes. We stayed in the White Room overlooking the lake. The structure looks like it was built in the seventies and is well maintIned. The hosts have not skimped on the comfort; we had a whisper quiet AC unit, fan, high thread count sheets and a Sleep-Number mattress(side note: that thing was pretty amazing). In room amenities included a flat screen TV, cable, charging stations for 2 plugs *and* two USB cables on *each* side of the bed(key for us), free WiFi that actually worked well, jewelry cleaner, iron and ironing board and an in room coffee maker. Donna supplied us with fresh ground coffee for the later. Lastly everything was immaculately clean. I don’t have enough room to describe breakfast, cooking to your liking and enough to make you want to simply sit on the dock for the rest of the day. YUMMY! It was a short drive to the wine trail, the Catharine Valley Bike Trail and the Gorge at Watkins Glen. If you are going to the area, this is a great place to stay.

Frank and Donna definitely have a good thing going here! Their B&B is so cozy and inviting that you really feel like it is your own home… away from home. The views are amazing, the food is delectable, and the hospitality that F & D shower their guests with is first –class. Cooked to order breakfasts, large guestrooms, and guest robes are some personal touches that you will also find at this charming getaway. The location is FABULOUS!!! Located at the bottom of Seneca Lake you are only minutes away from the endless barrels of wine from surrounding wineries. Downtown Watkins Glen is less than a 5 minute drive… on a nice day you could even walk to Lakeside Park and take in the beautiful gifts of Mother Nature. Staying at Sunset on Seneca is a win win win! Plenty of space but not the impersonal atmosphere you get from staying at a hotel. If you have any reservations about staying at a B& B I would say throw them away and book a few nights here.

Sunset on Seneca is an excellent B&B. My wife and I stayed here over Halloween weekend, and we had the run of the house. And, actually, there are only three rooms, so I wouldn’t imagine it would feel too crowded even when the place is sold out. We had the White Room, which was very nicely appointed and comfortable. The best part of the stay, though, was breakfast. Frank and Donna, the owners, put a lot of pride into it, along with everything else they do. The night before, you can let them know when, roughly, you want to eat, and they will plan to make you breakfast at that time. Breakfast starts with excellent coffee and a daily selection of locally baked breads/scones, in addition to fresh berries. After getting settled in at the table, you’re presented with a menu, and you can select your *cooked to order* breakfast — amazing! The location cannot be beat, either. It’s right at the bottom of the lake, minutes from Watkins Glen. And it’s right on the water. There is a very nice dock you can walk down that goes out into the lake. And all of this for less than $ 200/night. My wife and I make annual trips to Seneca Lake, and we will definitely be staying here again. By the end of the trip, it really felt like we were staying with family — not enough can be said of the quality of Frank and Donna’s work.
