Basic Chinese food place. I always get the lunch specials and it’s good for the price. You won’t find any mind blowing Chinese food here. Just average. I will come back if in the area

Pros: Tasty soup and passable egg rolls Cons: All other food was gross(slimy and tasteless); we waited 25 minutes for appetizers and 40 minutes for entrees It’s unfortunate because this is a locally owned business that has been here in one form or another for decades, but it was just bad.

They have EXCELLENT lunch specials! $ 5.99 for a Lemon Chicken with Fried Rice?! Yes, sign me up. Food is Hot and Fresh. I know the«Décor» is not the best but the staff is nice and friendly.

If we’re talking about food, this is an excellent place to eat Chinese. Though they get a deduction for dirty bathroom. I’ve read other reviews and complaints of the service but we’ve always had good service.

Arrived here around 3pm, so we were the only ones eating. The lady that served us was pleasant, but do not expect any service other than a pitcher of water and food brought to your table. The dishes we ordered were rice plates for 5.95 each. We had, green beans with beef, sweet and sour pork, broccoli with beef and kung pao chicken. Food was good and worth the six bucks. The sweet and sour pork was crunchy with pineapples and green bell peppers, but the pork had a hint of old oil taste. We had both egg flower and hot and sour soups with our meals. The hot and sour had a fair amount of ingredients, but tasted like spicy ketchup mixed with broth. The interior is extremely dated and it was hot and stuffy when we arrived. This place might be a deal breaker for some, but I’ve eaten at places for more money and way worse. Watsonville has very little variety of chinese restaurants, so I would eat here again.

It’s regrettable that I’m writing this POOR review for a locally owned business, yet I’m compelled by the Unilocal to spread the word to avoid any unhappy dining experiences by fellow Unilocalers. I arrived a few minutes after 1:00pm and was greeted with a growl by a woman who said take-out or eat here. I told her dining in and she told me sit anywhere. After seating myself, she brought me my menu and didn’t ask if I wanted anything to drink(btw, hot tea supposedly comes with lunch specials). It took her about 8 mins to return and take my order. Mind you the place only had about 7 – 8 others. She growled and asked if I wanted soup. I said sure, hot and sour. She stomped away and returned with a bowl of soup which she literally threw on the table since some it spilled and she also plonked down a carafe of water with 3 ice cubes from a freezer and a shriveled little slice of lemon. When my soup arrived I dove into it expecting some yummy comfort on the rainy day but I noticed it had a rather strange flavor? After stirring my spoon in it for a bit I put the flavors together– tomato soup, some vinegar, possibly Sriracha sauce, bits of bamboo shoots and shredded carrots… strangely ewww tasting was my reaction then. For the food, I went with with the lunch special Hunan Beef($ 5.95). After a 20 min wait for my food… yes 20 mins for a place that was NOT that busy my food finally arrived. Well, what can I say but… Ack!!, salty, salty, salty. I’m talking about the Hunan Beef. The plate came with 2 tiny fried wonton pieces, a lump of dried steam rice and a shriveled up orange quarter that look like it had sat out for a while, or possibly sat on someone else plate before mine. Remember that carafe of water, well I drank the whole thing to counter the very salty food. The flavor wasn’t bad and I liked the crunchy texture of the beef with the salty/sweet of the sauce but still just too much salt. What I found additionally strange is all the noise this woman makes. Everything she did she was slamming, dropping, throwing, yelling and cursing at the cooks in the kitchen well you get the picture. I felt like I was in a bad movie featuring me in a creepy truck stop chinese diner in some remote part of gawd-knows-where if you get my drift. Real rating 1 ½* OVERALL and a big thumbs down. 1 ½* for food quality and taste 1 * star for service

Just want to say THANKYOU! My family and relatives appreciate you still being around. I believe this was my first Chinese food I’ve ever tasted when I was growing up. You use to be Bamboo Garden. Even though I’ve moved to the big city and lived in other big cities and tasted Chinese Food from all over Asia, I will always have good thoughts about this establishment. Hope you are around for ever.

Not good… went here because I was hungry and it was very close. My last review was the best chinese, this I must say was the worst. Each item was dam near uneatable. I can’t imagine that anyone would go back. I think the oil was dirty, making everything taste like old burnt oil. Gross.

This place is good but was better when it use to be bamboo gardens back in the days. I enjoyed their walnut shrimp but wished their soups were better. Overall average Chinese food. The place can also use a facelift but like the paper umbrellas on the ceiling.

As this is Watsonville, I first off don’t have high expectations of Chinese Food. I was pleasantly surprised with this quiet little place. Had picked up a menu & chatted briefly. Placed a large togo order for the guys at work. The place smelled great when I walked in. Not something I typically find in Chinese Restaurants. There was a lot of locals. Chatted with a couple of lady’s while I was waiting for my order. Both have been coming here for quite a long time. And they both said one of the best things you can hear about a restaurant…“consistent.“ I was very pleased with the order. Everything was obviously fresh. Well prepared. Nothing extraordinary, but definitely good. –The Ginger Chicken had slices of fresh ginger, and while bland presentation, was quite tasty. –The shrimp fried rice was really flavorful. Mongolian beef was good, could use some heat, but that’s what chili sauce is for. — Bok Choy with Black Mushrooms was really tasty. The staff was very nice. Will definitely be ordering again from here. :)

Generally very good and the food tastes fresh. I only had one experience where I asked for a vegetable soup with extra broccoli for take-out and got home to broth… literally with some egg whites in it… but no veggies… no broccoli… nada. So I called back and they politely offered me a 10% discount off my next order… I have yet to go back. Someday… I will… I do miss their food.
