Fun place for wine tasting. Solid barbera from Butte County and a couple of nice petite sirahs(my favorite was the El Dorado). Lovely guy poring as well.

When it comes to appreciating and expanding wine tasting sensibilities this is the place to come and learn. The reason is that you will taste varietals that you normally won’t find at any other winery, I have not seen any of the three big reds there, Pinot, Cab or Merlot here. But if you are interested in trying a different red grape juice especially Italians here is the place to sip, from Montepulciano, Barberra, to Sangiovese and Freisa blends. My favorites have to be the new heavy hitters, the 2012 Butte County Barbera and the 2012 Monterey County Petite Sirah both are bold and rich vinos. And YES this is a pet friendly establishment, so Fido is welcomed.

We had been guests for a couple of Wine and Food pairings and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. At the most recent event we joined their Wine Club to take advantage of the great deals and special events. The knowledge gained from Mikael and Denise really compliments their wine selections. Plus they are just fun people! Wargin has become a real favorite. Do yourself a favor and gather up some product. They also display great local art and other goodies.

I had the pleasure of trying several of Wargin Wines’ current vintage last night at a tasting event for a charity fundraiser. I was very impressed with the flavors and complexity of the wines. I tried two reds and a chardonney, and bought one of the reds. I would definitely recommend Wargin Wines’ wines. I haven’t had a chance to check out their tasting room or facilities in Watsonville, but the owners attended our charity function and were very pleasant. Would highly recommend a visit if you’re in the area and looking for a winery.
