Fair to Middling at Best First visit there and likely my last. Too bad… cute place! Call me picky but … Food: My skillet was described as having corned beef but it was their hash which was full of green and red peppers which I do not like. I suppose I could have asked but when menu said«corned beef» I thought I’d be getting … well … corned beef. The«home fries» at the base were not fresh… clearly those industrially cut, uniformly sized cubes. Also thought there would be a side of toast but I thought wrong. My companion ordered the corned beef hash and though it was seemingly homemade, which is good, it was served skillet — style which was not described in the menu. He expected the potatoes to be on the side and not all piled up w the hash and eggs, and was disappointed with the presentation. Also… again…no toast. We like toast! For a $ 10 breakfast I think you should throw some in. Also…and I know part of this is somewhat out of their control, they had the outer bathroom door propped open. This part clearly under their control. There was a stall but, I dunno, am I wrong to want more privacy? There is seating just a short distance from the restrooms. Plus … as a patron would you want to sit by an open bathroom door while eating your food? In addition, the one toilet was clogged and disgusting. They sent me upstairs to another bathroom but ew… check the bathrooms regularly please! Service: Nice when they were there… but slow. Maybe because we were outside but we weren’t THAT far away. And it wasn’t that busy. . So to be fair… maybe I just ordered their most mediocre item and hit the bathroom at just the wrong time but not sure I’d want to go back anytime soon. Plus … did I mention? No toast!

It’s hit or miss with the quality of their food. The drinks are OK but the times we’ve been there it’s been busy so getting service can sometimes take awhile.

Middleton’s on Main is a very good restaurant with very polite staff. We were seated immediately on the main floor. I ordered the Apple glazed pork chops with mashed potatoes and spinach. My wife ordered the standard fare of fish and chips. The food was excellent with the only issue was with the coleslaw that was very Bland. My pork chop was double thick and was juicy. The mashed potatoes could have been much better. The fish and chips however was awesome. The cod fillets were in strips and the French fries seem to be double dipped in the fryer. Yummy! My wife also commented that the tartar sauce was as good as hers. Overall if my wife was pleased then we will be coming back to Middleton’s on Main again.

Oh, how I miss when it was Lakeside Inn where you can get a good breakfast and good coffee. I have been there twice for breakfast and it subpar at best. The coffee is weak and the food is below average. Service was slow, the setting is still cool but wish this was better. If it works out I might come here for dinner one day as I hear better things about it.

Fantastic. The Irish Onion Soup was so tasty as well as the roasted bacon Brussels sprouts. My husband had the corned beef and cabbage and devoured it! It’s nice for kids also, the kids me u is inside of a children’s book that they get to pick before we are seated. The kids menu was your average food selection. Our service was great, the food came out with perfect timing and the Ice cream Sundaes at the end were wonderful! Very happy patrons!

Huge menu, lots of selections. Had the pot roast poutine. Started to fill up when we left. Looked like a nice place to hang out and grab a drink. Would return to try something else.

OMG!!! Did my taste buds do a happy dance to the tune of Middleton’s on Main in Wauconda. My husband and I started out with a appetizer called Dirty Bastards Ale Cheese Fondue with delightful pretzel bread sticks. Yum! Yum! Then comes the entrees. My husband ordered the Guinness-marinated Lamb stew(Irish) in a bread bowl and I ordered the Apple Butter Glazed Pork Chop with grilled white polenta cakes and sautéed spinach. My husband’s lamb was so tender and flavorful and my pork chop had a wonderful crust on it and the apple butter was heavenly! I had never tasted polenta before and I loved it as well as the sautéed spinach. Like I said, my taste buds did a happy dance for the entire dining experience. We will definitely be back to try their other wonderful choices!

Stumbled on this place after our 1st destination was closed. OMG how fortunate we were to find this place. The interior is really nice with lots of wood. The service was very friendly and attentive. The server asked several times if everything was alright and if we needed anything. One thing I really appreciated was that they kept the table clear of dishes and trash as we were don with stuff. The wife and I split a Dirty Bastards Ale Cheese Fondue with delightful pretzel bread sticks. The wife had an apple butter glazed grilled bone in pork chop. The crust and flavor was incredible — she gave me a bite — OMG. I had a Guinness-marinated lamb stew in a bread bowl — again OMG flavorful. We got MAC and Cheese with bacon and country ham for my adult son to take home. Even reheated he said it was delightful and he is a mac and cheese fanatic. One nice feature is that this place has a full and very nice bar with a separate dining area which is nice for families. There is a really nice coffee shop across the street, plenty of parking and a nice little business area to walk around. Definitely visit there website.

Happened upon Middleton’s as we were planning on grabbing a burger at Bulldog’s. What a great find! Walked in with an open mind and no expectations. Atmosphere: Warm and quaint in a 2 story historic home/store. 1st floor split between dining area and full bar. We sat in the dining area by the fireplace. Food & Drinks: Great!!! Solid craft beer selection. We had the Jameson chicken, avocado burger, fish and chips and portabella mushroom appetizer. All outstanding! Service: Excellent! Dorian was our server and she helped us through the menu and provided great service. We are definitely coming back!

Definitely my favorite hang out in Wauconda. Great selection of craft beer on tap with good atmosphere and live music on the weekend. Also I haven’t had food I didn’t like, corned beef is my favorite.

I can’t believe I didn’t already write a review for this place. It’s my favorite place to go when in Waconda! I found this bar one day after work a while back when I was in Waconda and just looking for a beer. I stopped and saw all the different beers they carry, so I told the bartender I wanted to try something from local breweries if he had anything. He told me about Not Your Father’s Root beer. I tried a taste and loved it. Then the second time I went here I was in the mood for eating some place other than the usual haunts. I headed to Middleton’s because I was impressed the first time. The night was perfect outside so we sat on the balcony. I recommend it for anyone who enjoys eating on a patio or balcony when the weather is nice. That night they also live Jazz music. I was in the area again today so I brought a coworker for lunch. We sat in the bar and the bartender, Courtney, waited on us. She tended bar and waited tables and did a great job. The burgers were great,(except next time I think I’ll tell them not to toast the bun). Check it out if you’re ever on Main street in Waconda. It’s worth the trip.

Had the MOMs burger. It was a big burger, 8oz, I ordered mine well done and it was still juicy. There beer battered fries are really good too. I would recommend you give it a try. 4 stars instead of 5 because it smelled like mothballs.

2nd time for Dinner at this restaurant, last second decision on a quiet Wednesday night. Nice when a quick plan comes together so well! Service was excellent, as you would expect on a weekday. Nice selection of draft craft brews, and they sell taster portions at a reasonable cost. Food was well above average, and I would return again! Why not 5 stars? Our salmon dish was a little overdone, tasty but cooked a tad too long.

I’ve been here numerous times now and I am a big fan. I usually comes for lunch with my coworkers and very much enjoy the affordable lunch menu. I’ve never sat anywhere but the bar area and the bartenders are quick to serve and do a great job helping you get in and out. Which is nice because I don’t really love long lunches when it means I’ll still be working at 6 pm trying to get in all my hours. The lunch menu has a lot of great sandwich choices and my friends have said good things about the grilled cheese. I’m partial to the buffalo chicken wrap and sweet potato fries. It’s been delicious every time. I recently met a girlfriend there for dinner and I got to check out their tap list. They had quite a few offerings and a good variety. I had no problem picking out something to drink. Plus if you can’t find something on draft they have plenty to offer in bottles. The dinner menu is a nice alternative to the lunch menu. It still has a lot of great sandwich options but also included some very tempting mac’n’cheese. I tried out the turkey cobb panini and enjoyed it. The service was once again great and I will keep coming back!

We’ve been here numerous times over the past 2 – 3 years, and every time we leave happy and full. Middleton’s is located in a very old building with lots of charm. I think it was a brothel at one time, but don’t quote me on that. When you walk in you are greeted by a friendly hostess. The bar is off to the right and a dinning room is off to the left. When the weather is nice the open air front porch offers a wonderful relaxed option. The food is very good and portions are big. Yesterday four of us went for breakfast. We started by splitting one of their homemade cinnamon rolls — it was awesome. I had biscuits and gravy with two eggs over easy. My wife had one of the eggs Benedict variants. My kids both had crepes. All the food was excellent. Our total bill was $ 53, which seemed very reasonable. My only knock was my bloody mary. It was weak and bland. Overall, Middleton’s is a great place to come with friends or family. The restaurant is quaint and very family friendly. The bar is a great place to watch a game, and offers an extensive list of craft brews. Sunday evenings a magician walks around and does impressive table-side magic tricks(reminds me of the good old days at Schulien’s in Chicago). If you are in Wauconda, and looking for good food in a relaxed atmosphere — I highly recommend this place.

Fell in love with Middleton’s on Main! The set up is really cool. It’s clearly an older building but is holding up quite well if you ask me. There’s two levels, main floor and an upstairs– both have outdoor seating which is neat. I sat on the balcony upstairs, getting a nice view of the street and enjoyed the nice weather. I ordered an appetizer, Pretzel with a cheese dip. The cheese dip was amazing! I couldn’t stop dipping my pretzel in it! The only downfall to it were the pretzels. They appeared to be the kind that are from a box and can easily microwave it. The entrée I ordered was the Chicken Caprese Panini. It had a balsamic glaze with a pesto mayo and the combination was delicious. It gave the panini a nice flavorful juice. The chicken was a tad dry but thankfully the juice from the pesto and glaze helped. Service was decent. The employees are very kind but a tad slow. Which was odd, considering when I went it was on a Saturday afternoon and wasn’t nearly close to being full. Then again I didn’t see many employees around… Overall I would return in an instant, good location, atmosphere was good, and the food was the best part!

Absolutely love this place, the building with open window walls to sit and enjoy the weather makes me think of New Orleans. Located in the middle of cute Main Street Wauconda, walking distance to the lake. The food is exquisite Irish style gourmet. Pork belly bruschetta, beer balls, roasted Brussels sprouts all were so tasty. The beer menu was huge! I liked the grapefruit beer. Only downside, so many things I want to try and pricy for lunch. Excellent for dinner.
