Barrett Moving & Storage

I used Barrett for a cross-​country move as they were recommended by a co-​worker. I lived quite some distance from their offices but they were able to send someone out the very next day to do the estimate and give me a quote. Because of existing work obligations, I had very specific dates that I could do pickup and delivery but they were very accommodating — even narrowing down the delivery window to just four days. They also had the same team do both pickup and delivery so as to minimize the chance of delays.
The only issue with the move was that they did not do a good job of updating me on the delivery date; they would basically let me know at the end of the day whether they were able to do the delivery the next day. One day, I didn’t get a call, so I had to call them myself. And of course, my move was scheduled for first thing in the morning so it was barely over half a day’s notice and I had very little time to clear my schedule. Otherwise, the move went very smoothly — no missing items and no damage, and that’s the important part.

I recommend Barrett/​United to EVERYONE I know.
I have now used Barrett for 2 different residential moves and could not have had a better experience (which is beyond rare in the moving industry — you hear such horror stories!). I used them for a long distance move across the country a couple of years ago as well as a local, city to city move this year. Both experiences were phenomenal and I will be using Barrett/​United for the rest of my life.
Barrett — Coordinates — Super Friendly
Barrett Moving essentially coordinates your entire move from getting you an estimate, organizing the dates of the move and collecting the payment (as well as free box pick up after you unpack!). They are very friendly and responsive. They stay in constant touch with you from scheduling the move, to ensuring the guys were on time the day of the move and check in that all is going well, to follow up. Wonderful communication.
United — Packs & Moves — SO Careful & Courteous!
Barrett then works with United, who does the packing and actual move. The guys from United are extremely careful and courteous! We selected the option to have them pack our home up (which I thought was weird at first, but I will never go back to packing myself ever again). They are so efficient and careful with all of your belongings. They packed our entire home (3 bdrm) in one day! –they are CAREFUL– They wrap everything extremely carefully — including furniture, dishes/​china, pictures/​artwork, etc — to ensure nothing is broken/​scratched/​dented. If you are doing a long distance move, everything is also tagged and tracked on a form to ensure that your full inventory arrives at your destination (sometimes they have to switch trucks cross country). In both moves, not a single item of ours was lost or damaged! When we moved in, the guys even made sure that they didn’t cause any damage to our new home as well. I had made a big scuff mark on the wall the day before they moved us in and while they were moving us in, they made sure it wasn’t them that had done the damage. They called me over to point the mark out and I had to assure them that it was me the day before! — they are COURTEOUS– In addition to how careful of a job United does in packing/​moving, the guys are also just extremely courteous. In the first move, I had to work from home while they were packing and was just swamped with no time for breaks. The guys actually brought ME back lunch from their lunch break! The second move, I had a 3 week old baby in my arms and was home alone while they packed/​moved. The guys completely worked around me and fully accommodated everything that I needed for my daughter. When we got to our new house, they set up a chair for me at the front door and just said I could sit there with my baby and direct them to the right room with all of our stuff! They’re just good people.
Cost — Very Reasonable
Overall, the cost is very reasonable — especially to get all of your stuff from point A to B in perfect condition. I’m a pretty big penny pincher, but also understand the value of great service. You can’t beat the service you get for their prices.
