Rt. 66 Vets in downtown Waukegan is a nice little place, although not very big the prices are reasonable. Not much selection to choose from but that may get better with time. The folks running the place are very helpful and accommodating. Clothes and housewares mostly, and very light on the electronics choices. Waukegan seems to have quite a few thrift store choices so 66 Vets may have a hard time keeping up with the high volume stores on Grand ave.

I dig a REAL thrift store. You know the kind I am talking about. Like back in the old days when a thrift store meant that the things were priced as if they were donated and every dollar made was 100% profit! Yes, this is the place. Tucked on a cute street in the downtown area of Waukegan, this gem is off the beaten path of the standard suburban sprawl but worth the trip. First, the man running the store was so helpful and nice. Let us shop without interfering but when I had too much stuff in my arms he let me put it on the counter and neatly folded everything up in a nice pile and then put the cost on a cute post it note on top of everything. Super great finds. You have to dig, it is a real thrift store, remember. It is not really organized but that is ok by me. I don’t mind digging. The prices are great and I walked out with about 4 bags of stuff. Truly a good place for vintage items too, not just Old Navy throw aways! Total spent: about $ 42. Mamma like. I will be back, be ready for me!
