This is a nice local establishment that makes you feel right at home. The drinks are cold and service is good. Russ’s has the best pizza in Waukegan and probably Gurnee too. On Friday you can’t beat the fish fry! Why drive to WI when it is in your backyard? If that isn’t enough… You can pick up some to go at their adjacent package store.

Solid, friendly, locals bar, package store and small restaurant. Great small sideroom for about 50. Wonderful service by Gino for a private party, although we did have to pay him a little extra to keep his clothes on, worth it. Good $ 10 Walleye dinner, and fish fry in general. Good enuf pizza and burgers, didn’t find the magic in the BLT pizza but you may. Street parking, find a streetlight. Nice people and place. Come here a couple times and they will know your name.

This is a solid neighborhood pub that anyone can enjoy. From the outside, the place may seem like a bit of a dive, and the inside looks like any other bar around, however the price is right and the food is well above average. The Friday fish fry is worthy of anything you find in Wisconsin and is one of the best in Lake County. The place is populated by a wide assortment of regulars. On any given night, there about 10 folks who you might see there who were occupying the same barstool the night before. They are surrounded by people, much like myself, to make it by once a week. Everyone seems to know everyone there and anyone who is willing to make themselves known is soon to be a friend. They have some wonderful bartenders; specifically, John and Diane who have been there a long time. The owner Mickey is usually around in the daytime and is a very nice guy. His sister Carol waitresses. Football Sunday is a special day. Although the kitchen is open, they put out free food at halftime. It’s definitely a Bears bar, but you can count on a few Packer fans too. It’s not hostile. Sum up: great people, good prices and above average bar food. Stop by if you are close.

A neighborhood style Bar located in Waukegan is reminiscent of my old Chicago neighborhood bar which was on every other street corner. A favorite among the locals and brings any visitor back. Burgers and pizza are on the menu and served at the bar or in the seating area as well. A complimentary Popcorn or Peanut bowl on the bar to enjoy with a great selection of drinks. Sunday has a great Breakfast along with the available bar.

Russ’s is a nice quiet place to enjoy your happy hour with a sandwich or a pizza. I recommend the BLT pizza. That is just bananas you might say. No — it is a game changer. You life is not complete until you try it. Skip the package liquors as they are overpriced to keep out the local hoodlum element. There was a time when the tacos were a dollar, the beer was about the same, and the Cubs were up 3 – 1 on the Marlins in the NLCS. This place was a madhouse! Damn you Ivan Rodriguez!

I wouldn’t consider myself a regular here, but I go in about once a month to eat and have drinks. A coworker of mine brought me here several years ago and I still keep going back. The food is great! I usually have pizza or a burger, but everything I’ve tried has been good. I like that the staff is always friendly and attentive. Nothing bad at all to say about this place. It’s a typical pub with a liquor store attached. I mainly go in during the day or early evening to eat. I’ve been in a handful of times late at night and the place feels safe overall. This is one of those places that’s hidden in Waukegan, but everyone should try. It’s a little out of the way, but worth the trip.
