Lets start when I arrived buy the way I don’t know who wrote the reviews but this is the worst place I ever been to. I arrived around 6 p.m. no one was there but us and the staff they had this rap music playing. When we came in they changed the music we sat at the bar we looked at the menu and decided to go with the fish and shrimp tacos we decided to try it first before we ordered anything else and some fries also a couple of coronas. The food came thank God we didn’t order anything else it was the worst ever we finish our drinks and left over $ 25 for the worst tacos I ever eating and the staff and 2 beers. We went to the hotdog stand and had a great meal there and time. So the whole night I spent about $ 60 not bad but if I would have gone to the hotdog stand in the first place and ice cream we would have had a better time and spent less. Go to the hotdog stand and have some ice cream u will have a better time. Cheers to the worst place ever.

Was really hoping to enjoy this restaurant since I live in Waukegan and I like to support local business. However, it started out poorly and finished poorly. First, our server, Xavier, told us we had to go to the bar to get our drinks ourselves. This is fine, however, the servers for the tables around us were bringing their tables drinks. We ordered the Cuban sandwich, and to say we were disappointed, would be a gross understatement. It was a essentially a pork chop served on a dry pancake. We each only could stomach a few bites. The server asked us if we liked it, we told him it was terrible. He said«oh» and walked away. We did not see him again until he brought us our check. We were charged full price for the sandwiches and were never offered anything else in exchange, even though neither one of us ate them. Will never be back!

«Under new management» is what they told me when I asked why they didn’t have a kids menu anymore. My first time here and was quite disappointed, especially from all the rave reviews from last summer. Our table had a large crack in it, with a napkin under one leg so it didn’t wobble. After the staff tried for a few minutes, no one seemed to know how to work the heaters when it started to get cool out. After about 15 minutes when I ordered a Manhattan, the waiter came to me saying they were missing one of the ingredients and asked if I wanted something else. The lobster sandwich was bland and sparse. My son’s burger was pretty tasty. The band that was setting up to play was yelling, «check, check, check one, check two,» for about 30 minutes at volume 11. Guess I am a year too late for what was supposed to be an up and coming Waukegan restaurant. Oh well. P. s. The bathrooms were quite nice.

We will be back. The location is wonderful. The«pretty» side of the harbor. Wait staff and hostess were attentive and polite. Nice views of the harbor and the lake beyond. Live music and nice outdoor seating. Now the food… Average at best. They are just building up and the menu is limited. Bar/pub food. Very basic bar. I hope it takes off and expands the menu. I would definitely give it another shot.

Although the food was good, the service left a lot to be desired. It is not self-service, but I had to get my own flat ware, napkins, cheese and red pepper seeds for my pizza. A friend of mine arrived late and it took over an hour for him to receive his hamburger. If the weather was not bad, the in adequate wait staff, manager, and busboys would have been hammered. With less than two dozen people in the restaurant it should not take 45 minutes to get a glass of wine. We will give it another try, assuming the weather is nice and there is a good band.

You have to get the Lobster Roll! As far as the review about weak drinks… Not even close! Enjoy this hidden jem in Waukegan.

If you enjoy making a reservation only to be told that the restaurant had closed because of a slight drizzle; if you relish being later told that the restaurant had closed(and your reservation and evening’s plans ruined) not because of the aforementioned light rain but because there was a private party; if it’s one of your dreams to later be asked(when you were seven miles away) where you are and why you didn’t come to the restaurant as they had been open the whole time; and if you truly appreciate freezer-burned sea food advertised as fresh, and food that comes out of a can; and, finally, if you’re just dying to walk around in one of the worst neighborhoods in the city because that’s the closest place you can park, well… This is definitely the place for you. On the other hand, if you’d like to eat a a decent restaurant in a safe area with fresh food and honest and courteous staff, I’d stay as far away from this hellhole as you can. The star I gave it is because you cannot post a review(more a warning) without giving at least one. So the single star is for this: it is open. Sometimes.

Got food to take out last night had chicken wings(formerly chicken bams) delish! A little spicy and a little sweet — yummy Pork belly and a steak taco they were both really delish too — avocado salsa with chips… well the avocado mash was just plain tart I couldn’t enjoy it couldn’t taste the avocado in it so unless recipe gets modified won’t get that again too bad I love avocado. Chips were nice and crispy though. Look forward to trying more dishes.

«Your next, new favorite restaurant», said my coworker, anticipating my first visit and knowing my taste. She was right on the money! Sitting outside by the harbor is awesome, but having high quality, flavorful food by the harbor is even better! And who expects a hostess to seat you outdoors?! A very welcome, warm touch. The owner and staff are indeed genuinely friendly people. The savory gazpacho soup is better than I had anywhere in Andalucia, Spain where it is very popular!!! I can’t wait to go in the evening when there is live music! The best of luck!

So great to sit on the lake and enjoy LIVEMUSIC while dining! We had great, fresh ceviche and an assortment of tacos. The beer was cold, the music was great and the view was terrific. Our server was super-friendly and there was a fun crowd at the bar.

Very impressed and excited to have found this new place. I like the fact that it’s beside the lake– coming from a Tropical country and being used to visiting restaurants by the seaside I had been yearning to find a place close to the«lakeshore» where I could feel close to home although far away. The food was pretty good we went on a Sunday for ‘brunch’. I would like to see more going on maybe it’s because I went on a Sunday it was a bit more«laid-back» I will need to visit again when they are having some live music as I see they have their little stage set up. It would also be a plus in think if they could play some soft reggae since it’s close to the waters I feel would work well even though it’s an American restaurant. I will definitely be back and tell family and friends about it and hopefully the next visit I make I will bring a crowd to enjoy before it gets too cold!!! Overall if you’re in the neighborhood and looking for a nice new local to wine and dine this is the spot!

Had a great Saturday lunch. Guac appy with homemade chips great. Fish tacos with mango salsa yummy and my sister had 3 burger sliders. All really good and beautifully plated. Ice tea and seltzer refilled often. Service attentive and friendly. Looking forward to returning for a night with live music. Enjoyed meeting one of the owners and learning how a local young man is making this lakefront gem a success.

I went during lunch. Great first impressions. Two hostesses with smiles and great tans meet you at the entrance. People having lunch under the tents sort of like what you get at a resort. Hostess gave me the choice of sun or no sun. I chose sun. Beautiful day with sun but not too overbearing. Glossy lacquer finished table a little warm to the touch for direct sun light — should use tables with a cooler finish or cloths to not burn someone by accident or get complaints. Real cloth napkins wrapping the ware. Menus styled with no pictures just text — classier than say a Chili’s. I got the chips and dip appetizer. I liked the avocado styled salsa sauce but had one person try it that said too much lime. Made to order Chips had sea salt I think. Server wasn’t completely knowledgeable about every dish on the menu. I like to ask specific questions about new food. There were a couple of «I’m not sure.» Spot is only few weeks old I hear. Got a sprite with small cubed ice in a small wine type glass. Looked refreshing till I got the bill. More on that later. Ordered the sirloin slider cooked medium on soft pretzel bread $ 11 with special seasoned fries with Parmesan sprinkles. Sides are not included. The wait was the normal 10 – 15 minutes I guess. Wasn’t timing it. Food was delish. Came out at the right temp. Sirloin cooked just right. Fries come out in a stylish stainless steal cup. Everything on white rectangular plates. Now the bill. For all of that, two glasses of sprite, plus the scenery and cool iPod music pumping at just the right volume out of a portable speaker I paid $ 28 plus tip. I give a four star because the it was a little pricey for lunch for me. Not that the value wasn’t there based on the location and the type of patrons they are trying to attract. I’m sure they’re not try to have the place packed with a waiting line for lunch. But, if they are, $ 3 per glass for a small wine glass of soft drink half full of ice is not a good way to start. No fries added on an $ 11 stake sandwich the size of my fist is cutting it close. With tip I was over $ 35 — for lunch — for one meal. I would imagine my family of five paying close to a Bill for dinner. So, there is a certain amount of exclusivity about the spot which could work and I might come back sometime with the wife and or a business partner I want to impress. –Jeff

We went there last night and were very impressed. The wait staff was friendly, all smiles, and really kept an eye on the needs of every table(including refilling your water glass from the pretty bottle supplied on each table). The harbor area has been in need of an «upscale» dining experience for YEARS. Finally… someone took a chance and thank god they did!!! The drinks were nice, but… yes, they were a tad expensive for the size of the glasses they are served in and overkill on the ice. The pitcher idea sounds more inviting, but the price of that should be curved down a tad. The food was delicious… beautifully prepared on rectangle white plates, which looked gorgeous and clean. The slider trio on pretzel bread was a score. Though, maybe something should come with it… homemade chips or something? We did order the fries, one of them being the sweet potato fries with the toasted marshmallows on it, BRILLIANT! They were fantastic. The tilapia with the dirty rice was enjoyed very much. Your chef was a fantastic choice for this establishment for the entrees… what talent!!! All in all… this is a WONDERFUL establishment and we will be back. I am also very glad to see you have a kids menu. PEOPLE… THISISNOT A PLAYGROUNDFORKIDSTHOUGH… they need to be on their good dining behavior and supervised. The only thing I would say this needs… is some sort of outdoor fireplace, brings a touch of romance. Now, onto your patio heaters… THANKYOU!!! They are wonderful and perfectly placed. The live music… what a great stage. Being able to watch local bands play is exciting. Especially outdoors Many thanks to the owner and to the chef… you have a taken such a risk and this is a gem in the works here… and I am excited to see it’s future. Please keep this upscale and gorgeous as it is now. This is one of a kind. This is a place not only to be impressed by when you walk in… but to also leave feeling great about our Lakefront… finally, a place by the lake to enjoy fine dining.

One of my favorite locations in Waukegan has to be the harbor walk next to the Yacht Club. With a view of the lake and boats, it’s absolutely beautiful. So what better place to open a new concept seasonal American restaurant? Right on Harbor Drive sits this patio/pop up location with a tent for dining, adjacent bar, separate restrooms, a food truck kitchen and a stage for live entertainment. Word is catching on fast. There is an appetite for this kind of restaurant. Open only 5 weeks, we stepped in without reservations on a gorgeous Friday night and were told there’d be an hour wait. Under normal circumstances, I wouldn’t wait that long. I however had purchased a Unilocal deal for $ 50 which gave me a food and bar certificate worth $ 75. I was in for the night. My dining partner and I figured we’d try some margaritas while we waited for a table. We were greeted by an incredibly gracious hostess who said we could wait at the bar where there were no more stools available or stand at a high top when one became available. We decided to take a chair next to the hostess station with our deadly pitcher of blood orange margaritas made with super high quality Don Julio tequila and blood oranges, limes and simple syrup. These were a lot stronger than they tasted and quite delicious. The managing partner and owner Le Qoinne Rice was handling the bar with another tender and explained the unusual addition of blood orange to the drink, which gave it a cleaner taste with no need for triple sec nor Cointreau. At $ 45, the pitcher was more than plenty for us, giving about 7 servings. Individually, these would be $ 10, so score on this devil’s bargain of booze. As we waited, we listened to a local band about 20 feet away from the patio from a shell. The atmosphere was lively, hip, and contemporary with a mix of locals here to take in the ambience. Our private table was ready in less than an hour, probably only 40 minutes. Previously, we saw a table go up with a red tablecloth, seating for 8 and special reserved signs right next to the hostess. I thought, wow, somebody important must be coming! Just after I had placed my appetizer order, a group of familiar friends arrived and made their way to the reserved table, inviting us to join. We left our table and made our way to the table for 11 now. What was great about this was that we were able to see and sample more food, get a sense of how they handle larger parties, but most importantly see with how much ease all of these special accommodations were handled. The staff was incredibly great. We simply got smiles, «yes» and«thank you» when we moved our table. But what about the food? We tried the tuna and mango ceviche with fresh house made chips. This was really a tartare mixture as the ingredients were so fresh, the fish hadn’t yet cooked in the citrus juices. It was nevertheless delicious and would suffice for two. Next was a veggie appetizer which was listed with chick peas and spices. I was a little surprised when it came out as a hummus and crudité plate because there was a bit of a disconnect with the description. Served with jicama, carrot and celery, this custom hummus was a real tasty hit, with a nice balance of cayenne and lemon. Others at the table ordered the dirty chips, which was a generous poutine style order of fries covered with a hollandaise style sauce, parmesan and a real hit on the menu, pork belly bits. The fries were good, but this is a heavy dish. That pork belly, however was heavenly! Other nice options we sampled were the lightly truffled fries, super crispy. The trio of sliders on mini pretzel buns were raved about by another at the table. We tried a side of the dirrty rice, which had nice bits of fresh chicken liver and something sweet like pineapple. Yum. I had a couple of tacos, one fish and one pork belly. These three-four bite tacos were on the small side but packed a flavor punch. Again, the pork belly stole the show on taste. We tasted a bit of the three cheese pizza, which is another large portion, and very tasty if not a bit undercooked in the center, so a bit of flour flavor came through. The spinach salad was deemed a miss by my dining partner, a bit on the bland side. The rest of the menu included salads, burgers, pizzas and tacos. There is nothing ordinary about the quality of the food here. It’s quite delicious, of the moment and expertly prepared. All of the food came out quickly from this simple food truck acting as the kitchen. A couple of the people at the table tried some desserts and they looked super. We were surprised that the chef came to our table to greet us after the meal. She talked about how some of the meat from the restaurant was sourced from D’Artagnan gourmet meats, which explains why everything tasted so phenomenal. She has worked locally for Inovasi in Lake Bluff as well as the Tap House and Miramar Bistro in Highwood, a fine pedigree!

This place was completely wonderful! I work nearby. A friend and I went there for lunch. I had the fish tacos and truffle fries. She had the chicken tacos and sweet potato fries. We both really, really enjoyed it! There is no place to eat in downtown Waukegan so this was a nice treat. We’ll definitely go back!

we have enjoyed this brand new harborside venue in Waukegan several times, and are very excited to have this place in our truly under-appreciated Lakefront area. we have seen the menu change and improve every time we have visited, there is a nice variety and we LOVE the sliders, pizza, and fish tacos, and the staff seem genuine and friendly. There is a lovely lawn and performance stage, where we have seen great live reggae, salsa, and every Thursday we’ve really enjoyed the live rock karaōke. We didn’t realize how close the place is to the Union Pacific Train station, a few paces away… I hear they are planning lots of special events and shows this season. looking forward to seeing what they come up with…

This is a great little outdoor spot to grab a drink and relax by the waterfront. It’s very affordable considering you are right on the water and the beer selection is awesome! The tacos are really good, especially the steak. I also like the fact they have outdoor propane heaters under the tent. It definitely allows you to stay warm in case it is over cast. Overall, I really like this place. It is nice to have a solid place for business lunches in the area.
