Absolutely horrible experience with a firearms purchase. Not only did it take over 2 hours(despite pre-paying online and just picking up), I had the most inept, rude, and disrespectful person handling my ATF paperwork. That took over 90 minutes, mainly because he had no clue what he was doing(name was Kyle). Made plenty of firearm purchases before, from many vendors, so I’m very, very familiar with the process. It took less than 20 minutes at Dunham’s of West Allis and Brookfield on two separate occasions. It helps when you actually know what you’re doing. I highly recommend buying a gun elsewhere. They are grossly overpriced in-store(hence purchasing it online) and then furthermore Kyle made about 4 – 5 passive-aggressive comments about how cheap my gun was. Funny how I had to correct him on the gun’s warranty policy(lifetime warranty) and where it was manufactured(made in the USA). Dealing with a real firearms expert here people. Okay Kyle, if you have such an issue with my firearm, pick out your choice and pay the difference. Otherwise, shut your mouth and pay attention to the paper work(it had to be corrected by his supervisor several times). ATF paperwork took over 90 minutes(absolutely absurd) and we were in the store for over 45 minutes before we were even acknowledged by the firearms staff. I’ll never make another purchase at Gander Mountain ever again. Horrible customer service, terrible attitudes, awful in-store price that doesn’t match their online pricing… overall just an abomination of a store. Stick to Dunham’s, Fleet Farm(great selection and fantastic customer service) or a local gun shop. This store needs to cleaned house of all their staff and completely reevaluated, it is just absolutely awful. The kicker was how he complained about how he wanted to get out by a certain time, meanwhile it was my BIRTHDAY yesterday, which i had the pleasure of spending 2+ hours in Gander Mountain surrounded by the Brain Trust that was the firearms staff. Not only missed the Thursday Night NFL Game, but also had to cancel my birthday plans due to this store’s complete lack of efficiency and knowledge. It never even occurred to him that it was my birthday… just shows his lack of attention. PS — Kyle, if you actually read the ATF website, proof of a car insurance bill is an explicitly stated as an acceptable proof of residency on their website, so you might want to read up on that, or just stop being lazy… either one works. Pretty embarrassing on your part.

I never write reviews, but I have seen a lot of negative reviews for this store and didn’t have a bad experience the last few times I have been there(don’t go often). They deserved a good review from me because the staff each time I’ve been there was helpful and they have everything you need there. It is a little pricey but convenient if you don’t want to wait for things to shop online.

Went in to get line on a reel. Nowhere did I see that they charge $ 4.99 to put the line on that I purchased separate. Also, the checkouts are always extremely slow.

Stopped in at the Waukesha store last week. The kid at the front counter was rude. I sent an email to the Corporate office but never heard back. Don’t waste your time with this store. Head up to Cabelas for great customer service and a better shopping experience!

Really terrible customer service, and to be honest, I felt really uncomfortable. Seems like this place is marketing towards a certain crowd but nonetheless, I had no choice but to use this location to be able to attain my pistol purchase from another online salesmen. Very ridiculous prices, which can be found online for a lower price. No wonder they placed this store right at the end of the chain of business here. It is what it is, i’ll stick to online purchases.

They need to fire the guy in the firearms department with all the disgusting tattoos and huge holes in his ears. He doesn’t know anything about shotguns at all! And tried to sell me a .44 Instead cuz that what he prefers… A shot gun vs a revolver??? Are you kidding me? I believe his name was Matt. If you go there. Ask for someone else!

The worst customer service you will find esp In firearms. Came to buy a gun and waited and waited and waited. Ammo prices are very high and I was in the store for an hour no one said a thing to me. Save your time go to Cabelas

We stopped here to buy a cooler as we were heading out to a camping weekend and neglected to bring ours from home in Ohio. We could see the store from the highway but it was like 8 circles of hell trying to figure out how to get into the damn parking lot. Seriously, I don’t think I could find it again if I tried. So annoying. Once inside we located the cooler section which was fine. Good selection, average prices. When checking out, the completely uninterested high-schooler ‘helping’ us sleep-walked through his encounter with us. When I asked him to please cut off the(huge and probably intended to be reused) price tag card, he looked at me as if he’d never heard such a stupid question. Eventually he complied and we were on our way. I certainly wouldn’t attempt to shop here again but I suppose if you live close and know the magic secret of entry to this place, it’s your average Gander Mountain.

This Gander has the worst service at the firearm department. I walked in to buy a pistol and waited for 20 minutes before walking out twice. I ended up going to the 27th street for better service.

Stopped in today to shop around This store was too big to shop in 1 hour but I plan to return as I was warmly greeted and assisted in finding a proper holster. We tried a few types to get the right fit. Most of the staff were interested in being helpfulI. Very refreshing usually retail employees are too busy hiding and trying to look busy, while socially loafing on the job.
