Booked a room with two Queen size rooms. A standard hotel room configuration. The room that I was provided had two full/double size beds. Very clearly not the same thing. The hotel refused to properly compensate me for the difference in bed types. Won’t be staying here again.

I had a pre-paid reservation to check-in on Oct. 10, 2015. I was working at a wedding all day so I wasn’t able to check-in until 3am, so it was actually Oct. 11 when I checked in. I have checked in after midnight previously due to working other weddings this summer and was told my reservation is guaranteed until 6am. When I arrived there was a sign at the front desk that said the attendant was busy helping other guests. After waiting for about 15 minutes, I started looking around and found a staff member sitting in the room where they serve breakfast. She came out to help me check-in. She could not find my reservation. I showed her the confirmation on my phone and she said there was nothing she could do with that information. I gave her my confirmation number and she could not find it. I asked her if she was looking at check-ins for Oct. 10 and she said she was. After arguing with her for 20 minutes I started to proceed to call the police and then she magically found my name for the Oct. 10 check-ins. She had been looking at the Oct. 11 check-ins the entire time. She gives me keys and I go up to the room. I go into the room and there are people in the room. So I go back downstairs and tell her there are people in there. She says that her list says that room is open. I ask her if she is looking at the correct date and she said she was. She proceeds to call the people in that room asking them how they came to be in that room and that they need to come down to the front desk to figure this out. This is now after 3am. I call the Marriott Courtyard who has a room available, so I leave to go check-in there. As I am leaving, the staff member says she can put me in an open room but at that point I have had enough. I just want to go to bed. The staff member’s name was Donna and she clearly had no idea how to do her job, zero customer service, was no help, and made this the worst possible experience I have ever had. As a result, I will never stay at this hotel, or chain, ever again. I called after checking in at the Courtyard and was able to get the pre-paid reservation at the Super 8 refunded. There are a lot of bad hotels in Wausau and I have learned my lesson that you get what you pay for.

For in inexpensive place to stay while traveling this is the place. Very, very clean and newer carpeting. The staff was so nice, the bed was comfortable, and a simple but abundant breakfast buffet. There is also a pool and a work out room.

This place isn’t the newest place but I can tell they are working at it. Newer carpeting, a nice morning breakfast, and clean. As far as mid-level economy chain this one is pretty solid.

Clean, quiet room. 24-hour pool. Friendly service at front desk(I locked my room key in twice, was never a problem getting it back). Almost everything works great — although the showerhead needs to be cleaned badly. The hot biscuits at breakfast win back the star, though. Did I mention a 24-hour pool?(It’s not that large, but it’s a good temperature.) My friends who arrived the second night agreed this place is a tremendous value and would also stay here again in a heartbeat.

Went here as it was pet-friendly. A super nice Super 8. The web site says that they put pets in smoking rooms, but we got a non-smoking king when I called! Pool and whirlpool open 24 hours so you can soak after you ski at Granite peak. Has the 8’s reg continental breakfast(waffles, fruit, bagels and boiled eggs) so that was good. It was very clean and newly remodeled. Will definitely stay here again. Close to Granite Peak, it was busy with skiers downhill and cross-country school teams, but we were down on one end so noise was minimal. In fact no one complained about our pooch who gave one loud yap whenever the outside door opened(he was in the kennel night 2 and quiet as a mouse, thankfully). The entrance is tricky — turn at McDonalds on Stewart Ave. It is right behind McDonalds.
