Little Read Book is a fantastic independent book store. It’s a cozy little shop with a surprisingly wide variety of genres, age ranges, etc. I like to gift shop there as they have a nice kids section and a selection of book related gift items. The staff is friendly and helpful. If they don’t have a title in stock they’ll order it and it’s usually ready to pick up in a few days.

I don’t really know what I was expecting when I popped by here but it wasn’t what I got. A single customer was in the store when we came in and we were not greeted. First put off immediately, not a good impression. And the place is incredibly small and quiet. You could hear a feather hit the floor in that place. There was nothing of interest for me there and being put off by not being greeted on top of that, I certainly won’t be back.

What I like best about Little Read Book is the choices they make in books to display. They grab me as I walk by! I always engage in friendly conversations with other customers. I received great customer service when I ordered a book through them. And there’s quite a large selection of Irish books!

«Awww» That’s the first thing I thought when I walked into Little Read Book. Not a bad AW!, but the cutest of the Awww’s. This place almost reminds me of the little library back home in small-town NE where I grew up. It’s comfortable. The owner was really friendly, answered all of my questions and helped me find the book I was looking for. It’s not a super huge bookstore conglomerate-type place, so they don’t have everything, but the selection is pretty good. They have a wide variety of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, cookbooks, etc, and even a section on Wauwatosa. Plus, if they don’t have it, they’ll order it for you.(there’s also a nice little gift-type section with some cute trinkets and games and such) Prices are not as low as you will find on Amazon or the discount racks at Barnes, but that’s not the point here. You’re supporting a local business that can’t survive selling hardcovers for $ 3.00. Lots of good feelings to be had here :)

Cute little bookstore with a good selection. Their prices are standard, but I especially like them because they have a whole section dedicated to local books mainly Wauwatosa and an Irish book selection. Nice little gift selection here too, I bought a gurgling pitcher for my wife.

I love Little Read Book. It is an awesome, local book store with a great selection of books and gift items. The staff is very helpful. They can special order whatever you want. They also host book signings, kids events, etc. very valuable business in the Tosa Village.

A BOOKSTORETHATFOCUSESONSELLINGBOOKS. What a NOVEL idea! A short but not complete list of things you will NOT find at Little Read Book: electronic books and readers, national coffee chains, music albums & DVDs, stuffed animals, puzzles, photo albums… you get my drift. LRB makes me realize how much Barnes and Noble is more like a Target than an actual book store. I shop Amazon for used books but I prefer to purchase new releases from LRB. Little Read Book has been in business for over twenty five years. Unchain and support local businesses.

Great little local book store. Both times I have been in the owner/employees have been very friendly. I like to be able to go in to a book store and not be completely overwhelmed. Both times I have gone in I didn’t have a specific book I was looking for. So, I started in their recommended section, that is an additional 20% off. Found books I enjoy each time. If you are looking for something specific, just ask and they can order it for you. Still trying to talk myself into buying a pair of the cool hand-made mix-match socks they have for sale at $ 17.99(per sock)!

Remember when book shopping was all about the experience of going into the shop, touching the books, and chatting with the well-read booksellers? What about browsing the community events posted on the wall? Or getting that personal phone call when your much awaited pre-ordered bestseller has arrived? Well, that’s what you’ll find at the Little Read Book. This old fashioned book shop isn’t the biggest… or the brightest. But, it might just be the best. With sales people who know what they’re talking about(people who’ve actually READ the books they’re recommending to you), and a quaint interior that contains a pretty impressive selection of books — both new and old. The cookbook section has most of your classic favorites — along with a few new tomes from those Food Network chefs thrown in for good measure. And the display tables in the middle of the store feature a great, and ever-changing selection of books — many times staff recommendations — that will make browsing a joy. Particularly impressive is the fully stocked room of Children’s selections at Little Read — including whimsical picture books, Classic story books with accompanying stuffed characters, and a great selection of poignant & up-to-date young adult novels. Can’t find what you’re looking for? I’m fairly sure one of the friendly booksellers can order that for you. It might not be instant gratification, but you can leave feeling good about keeping 68% of the money from your purchase in the local economy.
