Beautiful interior, well put together. Food was good, found the half carafe option and kids discount menu nice. Delay on food and error in delivering dressing on side as requested lowered from 4 to 3. Had salmon with Apple Gorgonzola salad while wife had panini and kids had buttered noodles. Good lunch, but fix the small errors

A go-to for a night out. The gourmet pizzas are all amazing — the white pizza is my fav. Worth a few minutes wait.

We had heard rave reviews about Pizza Man, but on our first visit there were disappointed. The pizza was not bad(it’s hard to make a terrible pizza), just mediocre and it certainly wouldn’t be something I’d recommend above other area pizza joints. The prices were also extremely high. For two small pizzas and sodas we paid $ 62 before tip. We aren’t likely to return.

A friend suggested this place saying that hey have great pizza and sandwiches. I was in the mood for a sandwich and got the meatball submarine. The sandwich came with three or four big meatballs. As I started eating the sandwich, something didn’t taste right. The meatballs tasted kind of bland, there wasn’t any real flavor to it. The sandwich fell apart on me, but that was my fault, so I started eating the meatballs with a fork and as I was about to eat one, I saw a hair on the meatball. Lost my appetite after that. It’s a nice looking restaurant with a wide selection of wines and beer. I’m always a sucker when a bar has all Wisconsin beers on tap. If I go here again I’ll have to try one of their pizzas.

Whenever I think of Pizza Man, I think of Lakefront Pumpkin Beer. Although I was never a huge fan of the old North Avenue/Oakland Avenue Pizza Man(RIP), it was a block from the old apartment I rented in my early twenties, and for a year or so it was a fav place to go for dinner. I remember the warm cozy wood interior, the little side court yard and for some reason, the fact that I first tried(and first heard of for that matter,) pumpkin beer! And it’s going to sound crazy, but I also used to love either a dish or pizza there. I’d order it specifically. Today, I have no idea what that dish was.(Maybe the white pizza?) So talk about out with the old and in with the new. This is not your mother’s pizza man.(Or even that lady on Unilocal who’s maybe your mom’s age, or maybe mom’s younger sister’s age, anyhow.) It’s out at the brand new Mayfair Crossing with a huge parking lot that probably has the old parallel parking spots in front of Oakland and North turning in their graves. It’s got a beautiful wood and Edison lamp interior and in contrast to the old building, is airy and spacious. Despite the differences, it somehow still brings to mind the old place. There’s a huge wine menu(like the old place) and the menu retains much of the old stuff, with all kinds of interesting items, vegan stuff, white pizza, rapini, seafood, wild boar ravioli(if you’re obviously not vegan), non alcoholic«mocktails», etc. What we ordered: –Calamari. –Several chicken parmigiana were ordered and declared a little dry. The pasta was plain pasta with red sauce –Interesting looking cheese plate –Baked shells(served bubbling with cheese — really looked good.) –A pizza that looked good. –The worlds largest order of onion strings. Seriously they were huge, and suddenly the kitchen sent out another whole platter. They were served with white sauce and evilly good. –Carrot pappardelle. So carrots, sliced into really long thin strips and cooked like pasta tossed in kale & hazelnut pesto, with mushrooms and ricotta. Had I not also eaten the weight of my head in onion strings, I would say this was a healthy and delicious meal. It’s a lot of carrots, but it did taste really good. Conclusion? I really liked this place and would return. Our server was excellent. Everything came out quickly, well timed, and there were no errors with anything anyone ordered. She offered refills right away, and didn’t seem annoyed with any of our requests. From talking to people who had been there before, the pizza is probably better than the pasta, so I’d go with that next time. I’m a fan, Pizza Man! Even when you too move out to the western suburb’s.

Beautiful location! Such a nice ambiance for a pizza place — -you can actually go have a nice romantic dinner here, if you want. I highly recommend the hawaiian pizza with cream cheese, canadian ham and pineapple. Still thinking about it!

I attended a going away party at Pizza Man Wauwatosa and thought everything was great! The company I work for booked The Wine Room. It was a cool room and has sliding glass doors, which is nice for keeping out the noise from the rest of the restaurant. Also, the general ambience and interior design of the restaurant is pretty cool and classy. I ordered a really nice Pinot Grigio. We also ate a lot of food! The fried eggplant appetizer was very good and the cheese bread was super gooey and cheesy(duh!). The house salad and Caesar salad were only so-so, but we ordered a cauliflower dish that was amazing! And, of course, the pizza was great! We had the thin crust and it was just right. The servers were prompt and attentive. It was hard to hear the servers at times because of the noise of our group, but I thought they did a good job with clarifying orders and making recommendations. I would definitely go back to Pizza Man Wauwatosa!

Have given this place three chances since it opened. Was at a different time of day each time and on different days of the week. Saw totally different staff working each time — all horrible-to-not bad, but not good either. Most were surly to just plain weird, as in, «Oh, so there’s only three of you?» said as if the hostess just could not be more disappointed. Ordered garlic bread each time — why? — kept expecting better and never got it. Their version is a hard, stale, hoagie bun sliced through the middle and cut into small pieces with almost no butter on just the top and the faintest hint of garlic. It’s reminiscent of the 1970s frozen stuff that came in a box. The various pizza options we’ve had during three visits were all on thin crust. Don’t know how the Pizza Man ‘chef’ can manage to both blacken the bottom of the pizzas AND have them come out swimming in a soggy liquid mess. There were thin slivers of red onion sparsely scattered on all pizzas, but that shouldn’t be enough to account for a soup bowl’s worth of liquid on the pan after the pizza slices were removed. Besides, blackened anything — including pizza crust — tastes like licking an ashtray and is also a class-A carcinogen. Clean the ovens. Pizzas had no discernible sauce, and we did order sauce. Each time, we paid extra to get«fresh» mozzarella(as opposed to what, I can’t imagine — maybe pre-shredded stuff with anti-caking agent). On all three visits, there were slices that had NOTHING on them — no sauce, no cheese, no toppings. Each time, all pizzas were so soggy that there was no way to pick up or eat any of it other than to use a knife and fork to avoid getting the wet, gloppy mess all over. Three times, we ended the Pizza Man ‘experience’ with tiramisu, and while that has always been very good, what constitutes a serving has become smaller with each visit. Though our topping choices varied, each time we ordered ONE large pizza, two coffees, one order of garlic bread, and one tiramisu. Each time, our bill with tax and tip was between $ 52 and $ 60. The prices, on top of consistently bad food and not-good service, are why we won’t go for a fourth visit. Three strikes and you’re out, Pizza Man.

My family of 4 went for lunch today. When we got to the host stand? I asked for a booth. The man said«sorry, none are available». Although I could see many open booths. He asked if that was okay. What should I have said? No?! We sat at a table and placed our order. It took quite some time for our apps to come out. They were good as well as our pizza. Definitely will try again.

Horrible service! I went here with my wife and 4yr old daughter just to try out their pizza. Our waitress was not very professional and lacked customer service. We only wanted water and she gave us a rude gesture. Our waters were never refilled until the end, when we were ready to leave! She also slapped the bill on the table, what a bitch! The pizza was so-so, we ordered the Pizza man Special(The classic). I feel like I could just go to a grocery store, buy a frozen pizza, bake it and save $ 15.00. Pizza was way too overpriced for its value! $ 20 for a medium pizza? C’mon now! Even a $ 5 little caesars pizza is better. Never coming back here again!

First time at this location(on Monday eve, 9÷21÷15), and what a beautiful space it is! Lotsa wood. Upscale«lodge» feel to it. Distressed wood booths. Beautiful hardwood flooring. Impressive, huge chandeliers hanging throughout the restaurant, made from glass wine bottles. Pretty amazing.(See my pix) Food-wise, our group ordered a large thin-crust pizza and all agreed: The best thin crust pizza they’ve ever eaten in MKE. Better than Balistreri’s and a LOT less greasy. I had the veal Milanese and it was outstanding, as was my side Caesar salad. I can’t wait to return and try other items on the menu other than pizza! Drink and food specials abound, either on the regular menu or the specials menu. On this Monday evening, wine was half off; bottles of wine(I believe) less than $ 100.00. This is a weekly special. Pizza Man has a very impressive wine cellar and an array of wine to choose from. Believe me. You oenophiles will be in 7th Heaven, especially on Monday nights. Service was extremely friendly, efficient as well as educational: Our server, Tim, has learned quite a bit about wines and particularly the wine and vineyards represented on Pizza Man’s incredible wine menu and, thus, he basically gave us a real education Monday night. Thanks Tim! The location is in the new Mayfair Collection shopping center on Burleigh and has plenty of lot parking.

Visited today for a rehearsal lunch party which we had previously rented out a room for. We were greeted by our awesome server Zach who was attentive throughout our whole lunch. We pre-ordered appetizers and pizza. We had the calamari which was delicious and cooked perfect. Next was the eggplant fries which although good, I still wished they were cut thicker to get more of the eggplant flavor. Lastly of the appetizers was the cheddar potato skins which was a meh for me(not a fan). Next was the pizzas we had a variety of options. One with lamb, curry seasoning and goat cheese yum! I also loved the Hawaiian pizza and the vegetarian pizza that had arugula, goat cheese, mushrooms, and a white cream sauce a must try! I did also have there Caesar salad and I didn’t enjoy it much as I though I’d thought. It was drenched in dressing and croutons which made the lettuce and croutons soggy:(After all this they brought us a champagne toast. Overall it was a good experience and definitely will be back.

The newest P.M. location and whoa are they keeping busy. Was just in here on a week night after work and thought we wouldn’t have an issue walking in with our group of 5. Boy was that a misjudgment. Walked in on a one hour wait but managed to find a couple seats at the bar. After a while gave up and finally ordered food at the bar and had the rough part of my day. Shortly after I placed the order they offered us a table, and then told us we couldn’t transfer our food to the table. I found that not only was this a pretty bad policy, but the way I was told was a bit rude and left me with a bad taste in my mouth. Beyond that our drinks were good(I really liked the silver bullet) the pizza was good and their prices are very fair. Honestly without the BS this was a 4 star place… We’ll see how it goes if/when I try it again.

I finally decided to try out this Milwaukee classic on a weekday to avoid any possibility of a wait. Impressively, at 9PM on a Wednesday, the place was PACKED — literally packed. This was shocking as the layout is very spacious and this was the non-downtown location. Clearly, Pizza Man knows the way to attract customers. Fortunately, because we visited on a Wednesday, the special of the day was«buy one large pizza and get one free.» With a special that fabulous, it was obvious what we were having for dinner. We went with the pesto pizza and the artichoke a la mode pizza. While these were standard menu items, Pizza Man allows flexibility, allowing two ingredient substitutions [at no additional cost, at least vegetable substitutions]. The ingredients were very fresh. Although the pizzas had unique qualities, such as the artichoke a la mode pizza had cream cheese, I was not overly impressed. It was just not for my palate. Overall, despite a brief 5 – 10 minute wait on a weekday, I enjoyed my experience at Pizza Man. While the standard menu pizza options are not to my liking [as I needed to substitute ingredients], the variety of ingredients here facilitates a potential for a great customized pizza [as there is an option to create your own pizza]. The price particularly on Wednesdays, is very reasonable!

Our first time today for lunch. What an awesome lunch. We tried their Calamari, it was cooked perfectly, served hot and with an excellent batter and dipping sauce YUM! I hate my food serve luke warm or worse yet cold. Tried their house Malbec, not bad for a house wine. It paired well with the Calamari and extremely well with our main dish the Carnivoro Pizza. What a superb meat pizza. For two of us the 12″ pan was huge! We had plenty for leftovers, is there anything better than leftover pizza? The atmosphere is excellent, a well thought out and managed restaurant. the staff seemed very dedicated and professional. Our server was one of the best we have ever had! I kid you not… he was friendly, knowledgable of the products on offer and not obtrusive. We were able to truly enjoy our fabulous meal and have excellent service at the same time.

New location saving the trek to downtown Milwaukee. Same amazing food but need to work out the kinks of opening month. Food: 4.5 Atmosphere: 4 Service: 2 Cost to worth it rating: 3(large specialty pizzas $ 20 – 25, pastas ~$ 15) Eve award: best Monday wine deal: half price bottles of wine Return worthiness: yes Highlights — Food: Same exceptional fare as the original. — Pizza: love the special. Classic sausage and pepperoni and veggies. Cracker crispy crust is my fave. — Garlic bread: another one of my favorite versions. Crispy charred garlicky but not too bitterly oily. — Shells: stuffed with ricotta and spinach and baked with a thick layer of cheese until bubbly brown. — Alfredo: just the right amount of creamy cheesy for the fettucini — Wine list: 2 pages with each available as half bottle amounts or full. Less than the book at the original but solid collection and impressive they will pour you half a bottle of any item. Half priced bottles(under $ 100) Mondays is the greatest deal — Deep dish: only on Mondays. Flakey golden brown crust and stuffed with cheese. Takes. While if they don’t warn you Midlights — Wine consultancy: instead of going through the waitress who had admitted to only trying a few selected wines, I would liked to have been able to talk to someone to learn about the wines – especially when pondering the spendier bottles. In a place touting great wines, having a waitress need to go check with the bar and come back each time with a simple answer instead of having a conversation wasn’t the best scenario. Lowlights — Service: actual waitress was excellent pushing her coworkers in the right direction. Our first batch of garlic bread was too charred so she intercepted the order and ushered the others to the right tables after they repeatedly tried to deliver us someone else’s food. Knowing we had antsy kids after waiting an hour for our table, I would have appreciated someone making the call not to hold our entire order for 8 of us until everything was done. Hostess up front wasn’t a good start: she did not permeate knowledge of how to handle the job or communicate effectively. Still love the food and wine being closer than the trek downtown, but the experience won’t be on par until they streamline the level of service.

Wow is this place every amazing. Spectacular service and spectacular food! Didn’t expect to have to wait on a Monday night and boy did I underestimate this place. There was a 30 – 45 minute wait when we arrived at 7pm. If it’s any consolation though, they just opened this location two weeks ago so there’s still a lot of hype around it :) In any case, the wait wasn’t too bad — we(a party of four) grabbed and drink at the bar and started discussing what we were going to get from their extensive menu. Mind you, on Mondays it’s half off bottles of wine under $ 100! Great deal! We were seated in just about 30 minutes and quickly greeted by our server(can’t remember his name but he was great!) We ordered a bottle of Malbec, a large thin crust pizza(can’t remember the name but it had dollops of cream cheese on it. JUSTAMAZING!) and a pie crust pizza(Greco). It was more than enough for the four of us! And let me tell you, that pie crust pizza is super addictive. So tasty! We ended up getting some dessert too! My friends got a cold spoon gelato(sea salted caramel flavour) for $ 3 and we got the espresso float. I would say for $ 5, the espresso float ain’t worth it. Still delicious though! Had a great time and the atmosphere is lively but not so loud that you can’t hear each other talk!

I’ll be upfront — I never understood the obsessive love for«old Pizza Man» that so many Milwaukeeans harbor. Sure, I’d been there a few times in college and thought it was okay. So I did not have the period of sustained mourning when the old joint burnt down, nor I did I cream my pants when the new Tosa locale opened. Still, the Mister and I felt duty bound to check it out, for science of course. From the outside, it doesnt look like much — tucked at the end of a brand new strip mall. Inside, however, is another story — its way bigger than it appears with several rooms, a loft, a big fireplace and a 3-season patio. I love the wine bottle chandelier and sconces too. Let’s talk about wine, shall we? Pizza Man prides itself on their wine program. I like wine. So it should be a happy marriage, right? Well, they have an extensive list — at Bartolotta fine dining prices. Seriously, there was almost nothing on the bottle list under $ 50. Glasses were way pricey with most at $ 12 for a scant 5oz pour. To put that in perspective, I was at Sanford earlier in the week and their glasses were 6oz and all under $ 12. There was a huge list of «under $ 50» bottles. If Sanford can do it, so can Pizza Man.(I settled for tap wine for $ 7. It was pretty okay) Let’s talk about Pizza, shall we? PM has a bunch of entrees if you want them, but it’s not called«Chicken Parmesan Man», okay? So we had pizza. You can build your own or pick from one of their fancy house specials. We went simple, with their signature thin crust, the Italia sauce(crushed tomato) and Italian sausage. First, that crust is the shit — wafer thin, crunchy, yet strong enough to hold up to what proved to be the most cheese laden pie I’d ever seen. I’m from Wisconsin. I like cheese. This may have been too much cheese, even for me. It meant that he flavor of the sauce completely disappeared. That said, it was abolutely good — but at $ 22 for a large… well… Service was on point — helpful with explanations, fast with refills and really pleasant. In fact, I found the whole atmosphere to be very friendly. Two tables near us(they didn’t know each other) decided to share apps and pizzas, other tables were chatting to one another — so it’s a neighborhoody kind of place. Bottom line — beautiful interior, good pizzas, completely overpriced. Still, I liked it enough that I’d go back.

First Elite to Review :) Growing Pains — Stopped in the Monday after the opening weekend. Agree with other reviewers that the hostesses were somewhat rude. When we sat down upstairs, we had a very sweet young woman for our waitress. While she was very nice, I think this might have been her first serving job, but I am not positive. We started out with a few appetizers and bottle of wine. All was going well and we ordered three pizzas and some more bottles of wine. We ordered the Sanford Pinot Noir and she brought a bottle of wine to the table, opened the screwtop, and set it down on the table. No presentation or anything… now I’m not a wine snob, but the reason I commented about no presentation was because she unscrewed and opened a bottle of WHITE wine. Ooooo dear — Pinot Noir is a red wine. lol She then went on to politely say«No this is the correct bottle — this is bin # XYZ» LOL — no, I can promise you Pinot Noir is not a white wine. Luckily a manager walked by and overheard and got things straightened out. So, he agreed we did indeed have the wrong bottle and told the waitress. So a few minutes later, she comes back with a red bottle of wine… and oh boy, here we go again… no presentation, unscrews it, opens it, and sets it down and walks away! She just did this and it was the wrong bottle — why on earth she didnt show it to me and say«Is this the right wine?» is beyond me. She already opened and killed one wrong bottle — this could have been the second, lucky it was the right bottle. Esp for a place that boasts having such a «premier wine program»…I would have assumed training would have included the basics of selling a bottle of wine to a table. The pizzas were very good and the atmosphere is great — for that reason I gave it 3 stars. While this is a new restaurant«building» it is not a new restaurant and I was very surprised to see the lack of wine training.
