I encountered this diner by accident as i chose to exit the highway because I was getting hungry after driving for 3 hrs. I saw a little downtown area where I thought must have a few undiscovered places to eat. Long and behold, I spotted Becky’s Diner. Interior was clean with the true diner feel a few people were there eatting aswell. I ordered the Californian Omlet which contained beacon, potatoes, and sour cream on top with two slices of toasted bread and a glass of ornage juice(about $ 9). Overall it was delicious and a fulfilling meal to continue my drive back home.

Staying at the Hampton Inn in Sayre, PA and just not interested in another hotel breakfast. Found Beck’s on Unilocal and it’s only 1 mile away and you can walk the back way down Fulton. Bonus they open at 5am, so after a nice morning walk entered a nice clean place with locals having coffee and bantering in good humor. Sat at the counter and was quickly greeted; coffee, water and a menus came quick. Had eggs, sausage and pancakes. Food came fast and was piping hot! With a more than full stomach I enjoyed a second cup of coffee and look forward to the walk back to burn off at least one of the pancakes. As far as quality, it’s Breakfast; Becky’s is very good it was staple food and they nailed it! Definitely will be back.

Becky’s Diner is casual American restaurant serving breakfast(all day) and lunch located in Downtown Waverly. The bright dining room is filled with tables in the center and booths along walls and front window and counter seating in the back. Each table cloth and hard table surface has old classic newsprint ads. The walls are decorated with classic signs, old pictures, and local articles and family plaques. The breakfast menu offerings include egg platters, 3 egg omelets(with homemade toast), breakfast sandwiches & wraps, scramblers, pancakes, French toast, Belgian waffles, cereal, and breakfast sides. The lunch offerings include hearty burgers(with chips & pickle), wraps, hot & cold sandwiches(with chips & pickle), salads, soups(not on weekends), fried appetizers, quesadillas, fried seafood baskets, garbage plate, and desserts. Daily specials are posted on the board, all breakfast specials include coffee. The prices here seem reasonable, entrees are priced under $ 10. While driving towards Elmira on a Saturday morning, I exited off Route 17 in Waverly/Sayre PA, and I stopped in at Becky’s Diner around 11AM. The place was very busy and it was seat yourself. I found an open table near the front window and took a seat. An older gentleman dropped off a menu. It took me a few moments to decide whether or not I wanted breakfast or lunch. The waitress stopped over to take my drink order(I got an ice water), which was brought over promptly and I was all set to order, but the waitress quickly said I’ll get back to you and scooted over to several other tables to take their orders(they were already there before me). After the waitress put in orders for 4 other tables, she returned 7 minutes later to take my order. By then, I actually changed my mind from breakfast to lunch and decided to try the Garbage Plate($ 7.99 plus tax). The food arrived to my table in about 15 minutes after ordering. The Garbage Plate(Waverly, NY Edition) was piled with French fries, topped with Texas hot chili meatsauce(really wasn’t hot), melted shredded cheese, a thick cheeseburger beef patty with melted white cheese, and macaroni salad. This bounty of slightly greasy chow tasted pretty good and very filling, but this garbage plate was not even close to a Nick Tahou’s original garbage plate(a Rochester, NY staple), which is supposed to make your stomach rumble and TUMS would be needed. I did not need dessert and I was given the check when I was done. Overall, the food here was good and the service was delayed during a busy Saturday morning. The waitress was very cheerful when taking my order, bringing out my food, and giving me the check. The waitress did not return after 5 minutes, so I left the money with tip with the check on the table and took off back on the road.
