1. Coffee is diner coffee. Not the greatest, but if you want Starbucks, go to Starbucks. I’m a coffee snob, and I found this coffee more than acceptable; 2. Food is PLENTIFUL and traditional. Bring an appetite. Great place for a Sunday breakfast or breakfast before a Wartburg game; 3 This is a traditional diner. Nothing fancy, slightly quirky(my wife’s skillet breakfast was served on a plate from a Chinese restaurants and my silverware didn’t match). It’s the kind of place that makes you feel at home.

Be aware, cash/check only. But there is an ATM at the corner Kwikstar. In town for soccer and wanted to find something that was open before 11 on Sunday. The best breakfast in Waverly sounded appealing and since I’ve not had breakfast anywhere else here I have no reason to disagree. The skillet was very good and so were the boys’ pancakes. The pancakes are HUGE so yes, one is enough. Not the best coffee but it was ok. Good service and a very quaint breakfast diner atmosphere. Prices are what you might expect, very reasonable.

I’m not a coffee snob, but I don’t think you should be able to see through the pot of coffee. My wife’s biscuits and gravy were bland and cold. Pancakes were not on today’s menu. Not a very good value for mediocre food and terrible coffee. If this is the best breakfast in Waverly, remind me to sleep in and wait for lunch next time.

Best breakfast in Waverly! This is the place to go For your pancakes, cinnamon rolls, French toast and more. The building is small, so you may have to wait.

The food and prices are excellent here. You can’t get much better home cooking. The only complains I have is that it is small for the amount of traffic it gets and you might have to wait. Our server looked like she had been working there a long time and had zero patience and was a little rude. Solid 4 stars though.

Massive pancakes and cheap pricing makes Dells a fun place to go for breakfast. This diner is usually packed, so prepare to wait to get seated.

I have been a regular customer of Dell’s since the first time we went there in February 2014. One time me and boyfriend woke up at 7:30am just to have breakfast at Dell’s. We have always had a great overall experience at Dell’s. The server, the lady with medium short hair who I believe work there almost everyday, is very friendly and accommodating. There are only two times that thing did not go so well when my pancakes were a little bit burned and some bacons were overcooked. They were still edible but we just had to be more selective of the pieces. Though, we had always good experiences here! Their sausage links is very delicious and one of a kind. Their american fries is so yummy. Even their toasts taste so simple yet rich at the same time. The great thing about this place is the food tasted just like home-cooked!

Every town needs an always packed, friendly place to get an awesome breakfast. Only a couple draw backs. 1 — you can spend so much time chatting with friends that you almost forget to eat, and 2 — Sometimes when Dell’s is exactly what you want, they aren’t open. My family loves this place.

Dined here while in town for brother’s graduation, love the feel of the small town diner. Quick and friendly service. The chicken fried steak wasdelicious and so were the biscuits and gravy.

Best breakfast in town. However, prepare for a slight wait because this small diner is always full.

Dell’s is the very definition of «greasy spoon.» Located in the quiet town of Waverly, IA it is definitely an institution for those living in Waverly and the many students at nearby Wartburg College. I recently dined here for breakfast with several family members and came away impressed. The service was on point throughout and the coffee was hot — two early indications this breakfast gathering would be good. I had a rather simple breakfast specials — eggs, hash browns, and toast and was able to escape with a bill under $ 4(not including tip). The specials are varied and offer something for everyone. My dining companions sampled a skillet breakfast, pancakes, french toast, and more pancakes and all came away fulfilled and happy. Perhaps the height of the visit were the many humorous signs hung throughout the restaurant(including in the bathroom) which added a unique character to this charming little diner. I anticipate being back in Waverly many times in the future — and with the relative void of non-chain restaurants, believe Dell’s will become a staple of my visits to NE Iowa.

On our bicycle tour we found ourself in Waverly on a Sunday morning and found this cool little diner. Our breakfasts were well prepared, nicely served and delicious. Eggs over medium were perfect as were my extra crispy requested hash browns. It had a good crowd of locals. Staff was friedly. Give them a try f in Waverly, Iowa.

Formerly the iconic«Roy’s Place» that stayed open 24⁄7 at the intersection of Hwy 218 and Hwy 3 to handle the heavy over-the-road truck traffic. Old Waverly hands will fondly(or not so fondly) recall the egg cheese sandwich that made Roy’s famous as a greasy spoon. And their egg cheese was GREASY, flash fired(make that deep fried) in about an inch of lard. That’s LARD folks, none of that modern snivly sunflower oil or similar low grade substitutes for real grease. After the interstate highways reduced the volume of truck traffic through Waverly Roy’s struggled to stay in business; Roy’s finally regrouped as Dell’s Diner under new ownership and management with greatly reduced hours to accommodate a fairly small local business base. An egg cheese may still be ordered, albeit it is a much healthier version than the classic«Roy’s Egg Cheese.» Other breakfast and lunch selections are available, but I’ve never ventured beyond an egg cheese for nostalgic reasons. The walls are adorned with old photographs of various hash slingers and former patrons from its heyday. For example, members of W-SR Class of ’66 will recognize the backside of Steve Anderson in one classic photo.
