This is not my first time at this establishment. Growing up in Waverly you could say The OP was my second home. My parents took me here weekly to eat. Why? Free popcorn at this location. Parents dream that there’s something to feed the kids right away. As an adult you can’t help but eat a couple bowls of fresh popped popcorn while you wait for your meal to arrive. This particular visit we had a large group. Probably a dozen. It was a week night so the place was not overly busy. We were seated all together and the waitress was wonderful. She kept good tabs on us, got our drinks and orders quickly. I love their pizza but their sandwiches are also delicious. The ambiance is bar-like. Lots of tvs with various sporting events playing, full bar, booths and tables. The bathrooms were remodeled since my last visit and were clean. The outside of the building hasn’t changed since I was a kid. Doesn’t do justice to the treasure that lies within.

Best pizza in town. One of the better places for lunch too. The sandwiches are also very good. Could use a bigger tap beer selection.

The food is good but high priced for lunch. I always get charged a different price for the taco salad to go.

Don’t be fooled by the exterior. This place is legit. Excellent service, giant portions, great food.

Very dissapointed. We had a group of 7 and our food was delivered in 4 different batches with a extended period before the last meal because they said they dropped my sandwich because they were so busy. Waitress was not friendly and would take empty glasses but forgot we ordered more. Refills were non existent. We may try again because of the pizza but not top of our list anymore.

Pizza here was pretty mediocre, one person in our group commented that the crust tasted like it had been trucked in from somewhere. However, I came here during RAGBRAI and the pizza was like mana from heaven to me. Service is friendly though, and they were quick with the Diet Dew refills!(another thing I needed desperately during RAGBRAI)

Excellent food. I ordered a fried buffalo chicken sandwich. The bread of the bun was rather thick bit the chicken and the buffalo sauce was great. Their fried were nice and crispy.

Stopped here for an early dinner on our way to Indiana. Service was slow but friendly. Good value as four of us were able to eat for $ 50(and 1 of us had the prime rib special).

Awesome pizza that I go out of my way to pick up! Found this gem on a roadtrip through Iowa, and really enjoyed the food. The new york cheese steak sandwhich was excellent, as was the meat pizza. They really do pile on the cheese on the pizza so be ready for that. As far as pizza goes, this is great stuff, with tons and tons of toppings, and a nice thick crust. They have 1919 root beer on tap, which is quite a treat when they put it into a frosty mug for you. Overall, great pie, kind of a dingy environment, but its Iowa, right?!

We went here for lunch and some reason, the place smelled like sewage. Nevertheless, the waitstaff was friendly and knowledgable. Probably the best place in Waverly for pizza. As far as atmosphere, I would recommend the Cedar Falls location on College ave. Over this place.

Every college town has a place like O.P. II. Dark wood panneling, cheap lighting fixtures, vinyl booths with Formica table tops; you get the picture. Our server came with little personality and was not all that well versed when it came to the menu. Small salads were just like you could get anywhere else. The small lasagna was just o.k. too. All-in-all you could get a lasagna just as good in the freezer section of your local grocery store. The beer was cold, and the popcorn free on the plus side. My advise, find another restaurant… But to be fair it is a pizza parlor and we did not have pizza. Perhaps we just missed out.

Same great OP pizza, fresh ground sausage, dripping in whole milk mozzarella, secret homemade pizza sauce and Newcastle Brown Ale on tap! What more could you ask for you say? Well, there’s free popcorn too made with movie theatre style, artery clogging, coconut or palm oil.
