We live near downtown Waxahachie, so we frequent the downtown restaurants a lot. We met Barbara, the owner, one night while dining there and she is the«real deal» — lived several years in Germany and her recipes are authentic. I’d ordered a pastrami sandwich and had sent it back because the meat on it wasn’t pastrami. She came out to speak w/me and, while there, the replacement sandwich came out. Before the server even placed it on my table, Barbara plucked the plate out of her hands, inspected it, frowned and marched back to the kitchen. Long story short, I never got my sandwich because there was no pastrami in the house! Seems the meat order had gotten messed up. The meat was marked ‘pastrami’ but it was actually roast beef. The owner paid for my husband’s and my dinner(he had the half roasted chicken – crispy skin, YUM!) and sat and chatted with us for about 30 minutes. We’d had a glass of wine each, an appetizer, and dessert(apple strudel), plus she sent us home with another appetizer(German meats, bread and cheese). We’ve been back many times since then and have never had another«miss» like that night the pastrami was missing!

My wife and I came to Waxahachie for the Labor day and came in for lunch. Great service and the Ruben and fries were wonderful!

Went recently and had dinner there. The selection of German food is a little limited, but good enough. I had the Rinder Rouladen, and it was quite good. The spaetzle was among the best I’ve ever had. I’ll need to go back to try the Wurst Teller(sausage plate). The service was good.

Great food and atmosphere with an exceptional bar. Chef is always doing daily lunch specials and loves talking with his guests.
